Our best chance is Bellingham wanting only Liverpool . I don't think we could match some of the big money which undoubtedly will be offered to both him and Dortmund.
Liverpool could replace Joel Matip by signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka on a pre-contract agreement before the transfer window opens.
his parents should never have given him a name like that. you can see it now -- "Evan I could have made that tackle".
Liverpool are close to signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka on a free transfer ahead of the summer window. Rumoured Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Napoli that will keep the Georgian international in Italy until 2028. Liverpool have been handed a major transfer boost, as reported midfield target Enzo Le Fee has told his current club that "it's time for me to leave". Liverpool may be kicking themselves for years to come after missing out on Brighton's Evan Ferguson, a player they made an offer to prior to his joining the south coast club. Liverpool may have a chance of signing Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic this summer, but no contact has been made thus far.
I'd take anything reported about Bellingham (price, interest, injuries chronic or not) with a great deal of skepticism. Until Liverpool are doing a medical, and see a problem, I'll reserve judgement as to whether he has a "chronic" knee problem. Supposedly it is bursitis, which if he doesn't eventually give it some rest could turn into arthritis in the knee. But man if that is a "disqualifying" chronic knee injury, probably half of all professional athletes that run a lot have suffered from that at one time or another. This just seems like another red herring story that has popped up over time. I honestly think Bellingham is going to be like Mbappe... someone who is constantly talked up as a potential transfer but never ends up choosing LFC.
Matip himself was a free transfer from a mid-level Bundlesliga side. Liverpool might be trying to repeat history to get his replacement. I haven’t watched him enough to know if he would be a good signing, but the price is good. Is it true he can also play left back? I like the idea of centerbacks playing fullback since it seems to be a trend among the best teams. Gomez can do it on one side, and getting a left footer who can do it on the other side would give us good options.
Liverpool have made contact with Sporting centre-back Jerry St. Juste over the possibility of a summer move to Anfield.
❗️X News #Lindström: Liverpool highly interested! Next to Arsenal. Understand both clubs were already in contact with Frankfurt about a transfer in summer. #SGE bosses open to let him go. Price expectation: €50m. Realistic: €35-40m. Poker has started. #LFC #AFC @SkySportDE 🇩🇰 pic.twitter.com/Qwh2LSfxxu— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) April 2, 2023 Another link to an attacking midfielder. Lindstrom, Mount, Bellingham. Seems like every link is to a midfielder who can best be described as a number 10. I find this very confusing. This season has been defined by the failed experiment of Harvey Elliott in our midfield 3. Fabhinho and Henderson looking like their legs have fallen off. Thiago constantly injured. The defense looking exposed constantly. Zero presence in the center of the park. How is the solution to buy more Harvey Elliot type players? If we want to play with these types of players, and try to be more like City, we better learn a lesson from City. City played with 4 centerbacks yesterday. 4 centerbacks, plus the best defensive midfielder in the world. That is why they can get away with playing so many attacking midfielders. They are not leaving themselves exposed at the back. If Liverpool plan to rethink the way their midfield operates, they better rethink the way they defend. Matip and Gomez have had bad seasons, but there have been plenty of times where Virgil and Konate have looked exposed as well. We know they aren't bad players. But maybe it is just impossible to be a centerback for Liverpool at the moment.
Worrying times. We've allowed the team to collapse and there doesn't appear to be a clear way forward regarding the rebuild.
my hope is that the way forward is crystal clear to Klopp and his coaches. if he kinda starts over - i.e. takes the approach "what would I do with this squad if I just arrived here?" - we'll be fine with the rebuild. for the midfield, what really helps is: he knows already that next year we'll be without Ox and Keita, and that Millie's playing role (if he has one) will be further scaled back. he doesn't need to learn the current squad's strengths and weaknesses (which any new manager would need to do). our needs are glaringly obvious.
Then there's that annoying little detail about the owners - whoever they are going to be - opening up the purse strings to make some serious acquisitions. And the other annoying detail of getting top talent to come here without European football.
To be fair, it’s likely to be agent (or selling club) talk more than anything. The reconstruction is likely to be deeper than just midfield. I’d say even the style of play will come into it. That’s going to be over at least two transfer windows.

Danny Murphy: “Fabinho’s got to go. Milner’s got to go. Keita’s going. Ox is going. That’s 4 midfielders there. Liverpool need major surgery. They don’t just need a huge chunk of money pumped in, they need to sell a lot of players who aren’t good enough and free up the wages.”
