Flick has always been a big Werner fan, he reportedly wanted him at Bayern instead of signing Sane and always strongly defends any criticism of him. Which is fair enough, as in general Werner’s productivity for the NT has been pretty good. On current form he shouldn’t be a starter though.
Going 4-4-2 to include a player in bad form just seems so silly when germany have so many central midifelders and attacking midfielders and wide forwards! Wide midfielders is something germany does not really have at all
I wish Flick and Kimmich would look back at 2014 and how switching Lahm back to RB was one of the main reasons we won the world cup. I love Kimmich and I think he is a good midfielder but he was a great RB "the new Lahm". For the good of the team switching him back to RB could solve so many issues both in the midfield and at the back.
Yep. But now that we have proper 9's in Fullkrug and Breshia, I dont see how Werner starts over the likes of Musiala, wirtz, Ganebry, Havertz, sane etc who are all better in the winger/attacking midfield positions. For me his best position is a impact sub off the bench.
From June onwards it's imperative he settles on his best squad and the starting eleven and stick with it!
I am not gonna blame any players particulary, the most responsible guy is Flick. He favor his own players Werner what had he done in 100+ minutes during this last 2 friendly games. Nothing. That boy since joined Chelsea is finished either caught offisded or trip to the ground. Why did Flick choose Kehrer who rarely play CB to man marking Lukaku. Why not Thiaw ? Thiaw is in good form he keep Harry Kane in his pockets both CL game. Not just that. Flick always play high line and was caught counter attack the first goal was very ugly Carrasco has so much time to put the ball in the net without any of our defenders close him down. same shit vs Japan. I am sorry but Flick lost the dressing room already.
If Flick constantly experiments with the defence we will continue to see gaps everywhere. We need a settled defensive line up and structure. Also, can we finally improve our set pieces. I know losing Samardzic is a shame on that front but seriously we can still do better.
I think CF=disengenous scapegoating and M thing is Bayern bias. sucks but think I saw mention that Dorsch is out again and might need surgery, it really hasn't been his season sucks....
he's a good coach but he's NOT Belgian. this isn't club football, your NT should have pride and its about representing a country......that isn't his......
Flick praises "aggressive leader" Can Despite the defeat against Belgium, there was one winner in the German team. When Emre Can (29) came onto the pitch with the score at 0:2 after the completely unsuccessful first half hour, the Dortmunder tore the entire German national team with him. "I tried to do what I do best: be active in duels and be present and help the team," said the midfielder, who carried his teammates away with his physical presence and duel strength, in the "ARD" Interview. This was confirmed by national coach Hansi Flick, who took the right action by substituting Cans. "You have to say that Emre showed what defensive quality he has after coming on. He was, if you will, the aggressive leader we needed. He won a lot of duels and shook the team awake," said Flick after the 2: 3 on Tuesday evening in Cologne. Can initially suffered as a substitute on the bench. "We were just too passive, not present in the duels," he said: "We didn't intervene, we didn't fight back. Then it will be difficult against a country like Belgium.” Then he came onto the pitch and the system was adjusted. Can vigorously defended himself against the strong Belgians - and his colleagues suddenly won duels as well. https://www.transfermarkt.de/flick-...n-internationales-top-niveau/view/news/419863
I feel like Can, along with others like Rudiger & Berisha have that nasty streak you need in your team to be successful. Others like Schlotterbeck, Wolf & Füllkrug have fighting qualities too. That should be the minimum requirement in every match. I’m also unconvinced that Kimmich is captain material.
Agree. As if we go in to a sleeping slumber. Honestly 5 years of absolute Tosh we've had! I'm getting xxssed off with this xxite. Players with strong personalities are paramount to success, and I'm afraid Kimmich lacks the steel we need as a leader.
Another thing that annoyed me this international break is how two of our most in form young players were handled. Wirtz shoehorned into a formation that doesn’t really suit him seemingly devised solely for Werner’s benefit, and then v Belgium seemingly scapegoated when the whole midfield was terrible minus Can. Thiaw not called up initially and then literally the only promoted u21 player not used at all, with Ginter & Kehrer being preferred at CB despite everyone knowing what their level is. Even Vagnoman who has something like 6 starts all season got minutes whilst he didn’t.
Agree. I'm begining to have my doubts with flick. One thing coaching club players, totally different to international football, and his bias towards some players is so frustrating. Can't believe how he handled Wirtz to accommodate Werner!
According to kicker, Augsburg's M Arne Meier might get Senior NT call up in June. According to kicker information, Maier was already a candidate for the DFB squad in March. If he stabilizes his performance at the current level, it could be enough for a first-time nomination in June instead. https://www.kicker.de/augsburg-maier-steht-in-flicks-notizbuch-944384/artikel#twfeed Our M pool (ignoring U21 and younger) looking like in random order Kimmich, Goretzka, Gundogan, Can, Neuhaus, Stach,Weigl, Dorsch, Maier, Janelt, Geiger, Promel, Serdar, Rudy, M.Eggestein, Kohr, Haberer, Khedira, Arnold, Andrich, Demirbay, Amiri
didn't say to complain only that you should be embarrassed that a foreigner did this against his own country....
We've been witness to the worst performing Germany NT ever for the past five years. No team cohesion, mentally frail and without any real leadership.

It's a quality to make things easy. In comparison a wonder goal wins you nothing. This generation is opting way too much for wonder goals.
It would be a lot easier if half the core didn't pull out because of injuries. Also the 05s are knocking on the door and should be given a chance. re: Werner - I didn't think he was that useful from what I saw of the game - Schade would have been a better starter?
