Nice GW assist from Gutierrez. Noel Buck also had a game-winning goal. KEI KAMARA IN STOPPAGE TIMEDid @keikamara just score the winner for Chicago??? pic.twitter.com/eg2LEm9vbf— Major League Soccer (@MLS) March 26, 2023
always liked the guy as a forward hopefully it’s a trend At a Sac Republic game currently. I’ve been so impressed with Connor Donovan since last years cup run. You can’t tell me he’s not good enough to not be even on an MLS bench. He’s plenty good enough to start. USMNT? Obviously no, MLS? Unequivocally yes
Tommy Thompson brought back into midfield by Luchi, second game in a row. Oh, what could have been….. played left today and center last week benji k has fallen off a bit this season so far
Jordan Morris putting up Donovan numbers With seven goals through the @SoundersFC first five games of 2023, Jordan Morris is tied for the second-most goals by a player in his club's first five games of a season in @MLS history. Only Landon Donovan (8) of the 2008 LA Galaxy scored more in his team's first five games. pic.twitter.com/wqj43S3mAa— MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) March 26, 2023

The American central midfield talent coming through has been impressive. A 442, flat or diamond, should be considered for the friendly against Mexico Looks like Pomykal has been injured
If these numbers are right, the Revs and Nashville start the most Americans with 9 and Orlando the least with 2 followed by RSL with 3… every other team is in the 4-7 range. We should just start a Paxton Pomykal injury tracker at this point. Pomykal was taken out last week with a minor hamstring issue. Leaving him out as a precaution this week. But hell, when does Pomykal not have a minor hamstring issue? With the core USMNTers ahead of him, and the young USYNTers pushing hard behind him.....................Pax is one that might be pushed aside. He has the talent to be part of the national team program as a depth piece. But we're always left wanting more consistency of play at a high level.
Buck was very good, even outside the goal. Panayotou was OK. I can kind of see the fascination. He's pretty polished and has some ideas + skills. His potential comes across as mid-level though. That's just first impression. May grow on me (even more). Esmir is higher potential, but super raw, and struggled. For DC, TKDP has cooled off. Tough time getting involved on the wing. He's more of a box-to-box guy, 433 10/8 type. He can have big moments, but I don't know if he's elite in that regard, and outside of a super sub role, that's not worth enough if you can't make an impact on build-up & defense. Aidan Morris, like Buck, was a difference maker outside the goal. And has been this season. He does it more w/ his destroying. And his passing has been better. Making quicker decisions. Nancy continues to have a positive effect on him. Gutierrez also, in reality, assisted Chicago's 1st goal. Przybylko whiffed and the cross went on thru to Mueller, who buried it. I think officially they gave the assist to Przybylko cuz he nicked it. He's becoming a more consistent creative fulcrum, and that's what we wanted. Brady doesn't seem to be a good place psychologically right now. He's usually allowing late goals to concede results. Last night he got caught in between minds and allowed a header w/ him out. He's not ready. Speaking of gk's, who who is ready, is Celentano. Posted another clean sheet. And it was earned. He came up with some big reaction saves. Good technique to parry away the ball to the side to avoid rebounds. I think he should start v. Mexico, but it'll probably be awarded to Slonina or Johnson. Jordan Morris should also start. And we'll see if he's recovered now. Is it round 2 of his renaissance, as he gets further away from the (2nd) ACL? You can't kill this guy off. A segment of the base desperately wants to, in spite of his contributions. Overcame type 1 diabetes and maybe now a 2nd blown acl. And a heck of a nice guy. He should be beloved. Instead he's be-hated. Maybe, to ruin his marriage, they can find a picture of him at a strip club and speaking fluent spanish to a stripper in the champagne room even though he only knows a couple words like burrito and taco.
Great to see Morris putting up big numbers early. Hopefully he can stick around the top scorers list all season.
It’s becoming quite a common joke in the quakes community too. He has an unnatural ability to hit the post regularly
because the Krafts will always seek out the cheapest solution to every Revs problem. Can't wait for the new stadium to open
You can never "overcome" Type 1 diabetes but it is a heck of the thing to deal with as a pro soccer player. Gotta root for the guy!
It will be interesting to see how many minutes Morris gets as a forward vs winger, after his 4 goals with Ruidiaz away on international duty and Heber injured... at this point if the Sounders need a late goal, they have to move him up top right? All four goals were one touch finishes from close range... also let's remember his late header to save us in El Salvador...
With Pomykal it’ll depend whether it’s a one week thing versus somethwr that has him out longer. For now he has the advantage that he plays a position where we have lacked depth. So he’ll get chances as long as that remains the case (which it probably won’t for long). Even a minor injury though might mean Dallas doesn’t want to release him for the Mexico friendly. Which is not ideal for him in that there’s where MLS guys are going to be able to make the case to be included for more competitive matches.
Even with a striker in the game Morris plays more as a wide forward than a winger, he's always likely to be crashing the box or making central runs.
