Can Ronald Koeman Lead the Oranje Crush to Victory

Discussion in 'The Netherlands' started by Orange14, Dec 10, 2022.

  1. Actually Geertruida got the same remarks from commentators etc.

  2. Unfortunately those who are better than the players in the Orange Squad dire positions are foreigners:ROFLMAO:

If Koeman keeps looking at the past and present instead of present and future, he will fail to qualify and gets fired before that.

This result was unnecessary and Koeman must take the bullet for his selections and tactical gameplan.
Bad time to experiment with the 2 noobs like Geertruida and Taylor and there were other options despite the chicken curry victims.
Koeman also looks extremely stupid with his comments about Frimpong.
I thought Timber would have had a greater impact bringing the ball out from the back, but De Roon and Taylor both checked back looking for the ball and showed little confidence when doing so.
France just waited to seize and you could see this happen about 30 seconds into the match that the food was coming.
Taylor and De Roon are bad on the ball but Koeman thinks otherwise.
I would have had Wijnaldum who is stronger on the ball playing deeper instead of Taylor but it’s over with now.
Defensively there was no cohesion between Timber, Geertruida, and the midfield which was just frightening to watch.
The attack needs a reshuffle and hopefully he’ll figure out that Berghuis plays better in MF and is NOT a RW.
Actually Berghuis would have been better checking into MF over Taylor or De Roon because he’s better on the ball.
Oranje with Memphis have been playing a False 9 like many teams due today because of the lacking true #9/Striker, but Koeman has to figure out what the combinations will be up front and the #10 Playmaker
    Xavi, Gakpo, and the others.
One last note is how badly Gravenberch and Danjuma are hurting their careers because of their club problems by riding the bench.
Gravenberch certainly is better than Taylor.
Enough with the garbage selections of the older guys who can’t run or play proper football.

I’m quite aware. It’s truly insane.
What the hell are they looking at?

  7. Let's face it, the defenders couldnot deliver the ball into the midfield as these were uncapable of doing anything good with it. So having the ball delivered to the midfield or the French having the ball there was a receipe for chaos.

Verbruggen also returns… give him the gloves!! I am so done with Cillessen. He’s old, way past his prime, and has given enough heartache for Oranje. Time to move on.

Lang is a disaster at this level, not because of his ability but because he is so undisciplined. It's why EtH banished him from Ajax. I know he has supporters on this forum but I believe they are wrong!

At the moment I think the best 2 options are Malen and Frimpong which Koeman did not call up the latter.

Frimpong could certainly have been given chance at RW if he’s so incapable and inept at Rightback like Koeman suggested.
That would have made sense right?
No I guess not will play Berghuis there despite the fact he’s playing mostly midfield and does not function well at RW.
I like Koeman but he better find his head from his arse quickly with his first selection and tactics failing miserably.
Just watch the video it does not lie and it’s absolutely ridiculous to play certain players who can’t play at this level.

This is a welcomed news! I know it's "only" Gibraltar, but Koeman needs to get as many players settled, as quickly as they can, in whatever system that Koeman envisions... especially the core team. Dumfries, De Ligt and Gakpo (among absentees from the France match) should get the bulk of the minutes. I believe the next match after Gibraltar will be a cracker v. Croatia in the Nations League final foursome in June...

Malen is just a bench player at Dortmund. He needs to move on.

  18. Some idiots in the media are now suggesting van Gaal might be correct with his adapted system:rolleyes:

Koeman made the right system choice, but broke it with his piss poor selection and as a result a piss poor midfield configuration.

USA beat Grenada 7-1, and the Dutch need that kind of score against Gibraltar not 2-0. You need dispatch a minnow thoughly. Sure people will say it's only Gibraltar but the point is you want to go out there and execute properly and get into the habit of executing as you should and treat it as an high intense training match.

    • Move on from Blind, Cillessen, Wijnaldum, Klaassen, Berghuis, de Vrij, de Roon
    • Add Dallinga, Summerville, Struijk, Bakker, Bijlow, Karsdorp
    • Monitor/scout: Justin Kluivert, Quentin Timber, Calvin Stengs, Sepp van den Berg, Maatsen, Rensch, Meijer, Reis, Zirkee, Boadu, Redan, Tete, Van de Ven, Teze, Wijndal

    Nobody here disagrees with this
I watched a lot of Leeds matches until Marsch was sacked. Summerville is an interesting play but like Kenneth Taylor not ready for the NT. Struik is an average LB at best and perhaps a touch too slow and while he can play in the center there are many better choices. Bijlow has been out with an injury as is Karsdorp. Bakker is not good enough.

I am sure that all those players are being monitored but they are either inconsistent or just not good enough.[/quote]

The reality is that there is no better option. Both veterans and young players are not good enough. So what message the head coach is going to send for provisional squad to encourage young players that there are opportunities for them to play for national team with their good performances or to remind the veterans that there are still places in the team for them due to their past contributions? I would choose the former and build toward the future.

I have no issues at all with players such as Struijk and others being called up. We just need to be realistic about their abilities. It's the same with Joey Veerman who is a decent Eredivisie MF but woefully short of what should be NT standard. The immediate thing as everyone has already written about is to cull out the aging veterans who cannot help the team going forward.

  24. Well, it might comfort you all. Regarding matches against France we almost never win qualification matches, but at tournements they almost never beat us.
