When I think about it they probably are the fourth best team in the competition. What I should have written was that they are a lot closer to the rest of the teams than they are to the top three, if that makes sense. The number of points they had scored in the first half of the season was a touch inflated and made them look better than what they actually were. But to be honest they have looked a lot better in the second half of the season, despite not winning a game. They should finish off the season quite strong. The battle for fourth is actually pretty interesting along with the battle for the league.
U16 member for Montaigu international competition (April 3-9): http://www.jfa.jp/news/00031864/ I know a few members; of course Shinjo, Kinoshita (Cerezo) and Hara Hibari.
This week-end NWSL re-started, and we already had some Japanese goals (and a disallowed one, by VAR, that was introduced in the league this season )! Let's see it, game by game (I am not even sure if I do remember all of the players we have in NWSL: please, someone correct me if I forget any): - On Saturday, the 25th of March, North Carolina Courage-Kansas City Current 1-0. Narumi Miura played the full game for the Courage and she assisted the goal. Highlights: - On Saturday, the 25th of March, San Diego Wave-Chicago Red Stars 3-2. Yuki Nagasato played the whole game and she opened the score for Chicago of a game that they will end up losing in the dying minutes of it. Highlights: - On Sunday, the 26th of March, Portland Thorns-Orlando Pride 4-0. The game was kind of a Hina Sugita's show: she assisted Christine Sinclair in the box for the first goal (that was actually scored by Morgan Weaver from the rebound), she scored one for herself in the 2nd Half and, please, if you want to uplift your spirit ahead of the next World Cup, jump to 3':47" of the highlights and look at the way our top-player set herself free from two opponents to start the action of the 4th goal! Highlights: - On Sunday, the 26th of March, Angel City FC-NJ/NY Gotham City FC 1-2. A purple-haired Jun Endo was the first victim of VAR, seeing a beautiful long-range goal disallowed for I am not sure what! Nahomi Kawasumi wasn't even on the bench for Gotham, but she wasn't listed as injured, so I have to suppose it was tehcnical choice? Highlights:
It was a very good week for Japan internationals around the world... Damallsvenskan KIF Orebro 1 - 3 Linkoping FC (attendance: 382) Saori Takarada and Yuka Momiki played full 90'. Momiki noted an assist (still to check - don't quote me on this). Hammarby 2 - 0 Vittsjo (highlights) (attendance: 6 125) Maika Hamano played 68 mins, she was sub off in 2nd half when the result was 1-0. No doubt to save her strength as she played 120 mins in Cup semifinal lately and Hammarby will play another league match vs Uppsala in four days. FA WSL Everton 1 - 1 Liverpool (attendance: 22 161) (IN FOUCUS - Fuka Nagano) Fuka Nagano played full 90' Manchester City 2 - 0 Chelsea (attendance: 5 222) (highlights) Yui Hasegawa played full 90. She was awarded POTM. Manchester United 4 - 0 West Ham (attendance: 27 919) (IN FOCUS: Risa Shimizu) Risa Shimizu played full 90. Honoka Hayashi played 79 min, she was sub off in 2nd half when result was 2-0. (Both Hayashi and Shimizu are too good for this otherwise very medicore team). Tottenham 1 - 5 Arsenal (attendance: 3 754) Mana Iwabuchi wasn't even on the bench (was there a provision in her loan contract that forbade her playing this match? or did she refused on her own accord?)

Same goes for Gotham's PK btw. In both cases the need for use of new toy was stronger than the reason. Even if that was a foul in the build up (I'm not convinced ther was any) it was incorrrect use of VAR as it happpend waaay before the goal action. You can always find something if you rewind action far enough. I will say it again VAR is only a tool - it's in the ref decission how to use it. This ref was just bad (nothing new in NWSL).

By the way WE LEAGUE attendance in this matchweek was again the lowest of all to date. Total: 4 114 , average: 822 after 12 matchweeks: total 87 805, average: 1 463
I had looked for her, and a few others, over the last couple of weeks with no luck, apart from my girl, Shimizu Anna . Here's the list of players going overseas I got while watching the Nadeshiko league player transfers. Maybe you'll come across a few of them with your greater detective skills. Moriya Kanna #24 - Ange - Box Hill Utd (Aus) Doi Asuka #17 - Bunnys - Box Hill Utd (Aus) Shimizu Anna #17 - Ange - Actonians (Eng) Sato Yuka #19 - Ehime - Southern Utd (Aus) Okino Kurea #9 - Iga - Boroondara Eagles (Aus) Yano Amanda Yukari #11 - Anclas - Robina City (Aus) Hirakawa Anna #11 - Nippatsu - Virginia Utd (Aus) Egashira Ichika #18 - Iga - Excursionistas (Arg) Yoshimi Miki #21gk - Ehime - Marconi Stallions FC (Aus) Shimano Mio #5 - Iga - CD Parquesol (Esp) Chika Chinatsu #10 - Orca - Secció Esportiva AEM (Esp) Sumitoku Aya - Diossa Izumo - Eastern Suburbs AFC (NZ) Watanabe Toyoko - Diossa Izumo - Broadbeach United SC (Aus)

Weather conditions?
Denmark roster for upcomming friendlies vs. Sweden and Japan Notable absence: Pernile Harder outstadnig players I've watched (in last weeks): Sevecke, Veje, Boye, Gejl, Holmgaard, Sorensen
It rained a lot over the weekend and it was the weekend before the new school year. The WE League also had a pretty big drop in numbers. I went to the Omiya vs Nojima game and I was surprised by how few people went, especially given how many people normally go to Omiya games. I was happy Nojima got a draw, but it was not the most pleasant of experiences. I like warm weather, unless I am snowboarding.
I know Orlando were down by three goals at that point in the game, but the lack of pressure from Orlando after Sugita broke free was really bad.
Sara Thrige Andersen and Frederikke Thøgersen both play in Milan, respectively in Milan AC and Inter. I wouldn't define them "outstanding" but they're sure good players. I like what the guy wrote about "small players": as Japanese, we'll always have a small team, but we'll anyway have something to say and to show to the tall giants from Denmark and Sweden.
Yes, the part I like about her action is especially the magical trick she used to get rid of the only two who were presing on her at the same time. The rest of the action was in fact too much easy.

Nojima’s Matsubara has been diagnosed of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN1). I don’t know much about this disease but she will be unable to participate in games until further notice.
It was incredible how well she played against Chelsea despite being played out of position. She did lose the ball a couple of times and I’d say it wasn’t her best performance but she still managed to be POTM. comp ↓ Edit: For the first time I managed to watch all games with Japanese players from the WSL, NWSL, and UWCL last week. We have some good players playing overseas.
Norddea - Time/Distance for the 2023 season, away games, by team bus, round trip, approximate. vs Tsukuba - 32 hours - 2,206 km vs Fujizakura - 35 hours - 2,472 km vs Diavarosso - 52 hours - 3,940 km vs JFA - 37 hours - 2,552 km vs Anclas - 60 hours - 4,500 km vs Veertien - 42 hours - 3,038 km vs Kibi - 50 hours - 3,644 km vs Viama - 64 hours - 4,578 km vs Bell - 50 hours - 3,644 km Total 442 hours (17.5 days) - 39,574 km (18,998 miles) Quite some expense. For the 2022 season, total home game attendance 1,430 (9 games, 67 the lowest, 302 the highest) So. Would it be better for the Nadeshiko League organisers to change from Divisions 1 and 2 as they are, to Division 1 as is, and create 2x Division 2. Division 2 East and Division 2 West. As it stands, it's quite the jump in finances and travel time to go from regional leagues to national league. So you'd get.. Division 1 - 12 teams Division 2 East - 10 teams Division 2 West - 10 teams 1 team from each Division 2 would be promoted each year. Alternatively the 2 Division 2 champions would have a playoff for promotion. If they lowered the requirements for entry and invited some of the teams from regional leagues.... Diosa Izumo and OSA Rhea have been trying for several years for promotion to the Nadeshiko league, then there's Consodole, Vonds Ichihara, Nankatsu Wings. Renofa, Lilywolf, Imabari, Ryukyu Deigos etc This would also free up some slots in the regional leagues for teams in prefecture leagues to be promoted in turn, eg Orca Kamogawa BU attempted promotion to the Kanto league last year. Making slots available for junior, academy and highschool teams in the prefecture leagues.
She has barely played over the last two seasons, so at least she knows what is wrong. I hope she can make a full revovery. Another Nojima player - Hikari Hirata - was diagnosed with Graves' disease in January. They also do not know how long she will be out for.
