My best guess is Inter Miami. That's if he has an itch to live in the US while being paid. Otherwise, if I were him, I'd honestly just retire. Nothing else to win and nothing else to prove.

If he does come back to Barca for a year or two, I'd only be OK with it if there are no sacrifices made by the club. Financial or roster wise.

Right. That comes to mind. But we shouldn't be a team for a player to keep in shape just to play an NT competition.

He wants to compete in UCL. So likely he wants to continue in Europe. Problem is that only PSG can handle his wages but their relationship is not really smooth for now.

And I am hearing that Barca has some €200mn to offload this summer (net) due to its continuing financial issues that were compounded by not going very far in the CL and Europa. So, we can forget about the idea of Barca taking in someone that costs nine figures annually.

We had Messi for almost his entire prime. Now that his prime is over its time for the club to move on.

The club says they've already made up a good part of that 200m with offloading Pique and Griezmann and I think other cuts. But from what I've read, Tebas has reaffirmed that it's 200m. Don't know who to believe.

As for Messi ... yeah, it doesn't make sense financially and honestly not even from a football perspective. The team on the field has moved on with a system that is more or less working. As I've stated, the press and work when not in possession has been at the core of Xavi's system. When I re-watched the game vs Madrid, I was surprised by how much even Busquets was working when pressing high. He isn't fast, and he almost did us with a bad pass in front of our box late in the game, but his work rate is still good.

Messi hit 2 FKs on the post at the very corner of the frame today in the game vs Panama. The 3rd one at the end of the game he scored it. 800th career goal.

I think Messi and other veterans like Di Maria will play for another Copa. Though if he retires from NT now that is simply perfect ending.

This is not true. Their style can match. Problem is high quality opponent can prevent them by destroying PSG's midfield (which is a big joke now).

The first international treble CA21, CUC22 and WC22. Previously the closest were France WC98, EU00 and Brazil WC02, CA04, but they didn't win their Confederations Cups.

According to Catalunya Radio, Messi has made it clear that he wants to rejoin Barcelona in the summer. Despite offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, Inter Miami and Inter Milan, he is not interested in moving to any other side. He has requested another meeting between his father and Laporta.

Take it for what it's worth.

I think for the first time these sources might be correct, because Argentine sources close to Messi are leaking this.

From what I read, Messi was willing to reduce his salary to 10m Euros for Barca right before he left. Now these reports I don’t know how true they are, but if he agrees to do so, or some other similar amount, that would go a long way.

Reports also that while the Messi family is settled in Paris, Messi’s wife and kids miss Barcelona a lot. Again, not sure how true these reports are - but family will go a long way toward determining where you want to end up.

Messi apparently wants to win a Champions League with Xavi as a coach for his career to come to a full circle.

On the flip side, Qatar has given PSG owners strict instructions to renew Messi at all costs. But because Messi is going to be a free agent, then he won’t become a “prisoner” if he doesn’t want to.

He has 22 goals for the national team since begining of 2022. Not sure if a player in that form should retire...
