I want to go to STL for sure. I've been to LAFC, that atmosphear is incredible. I want to go to ATL and Austin as well. nashville is also on my list because well music
Not roadtripping until the team improves, but I would like to see LAFC at some point. Nashville and Austin would be fun too, except I have no reason to visit either
Well few points MLS should have taken an International Break, LA Galaxy are vastly better with Chicharito, they are very mortal without him. Portland has a very small bench. I ate too much Dominos One things for sure, The Quakes games are at least entertaining because someone loses.
I generally root for draws when western conference opponents are playing. It’s a good result for us. Maybe we lose a fair number of games but it’s OK as long as we are also winning games and not getting too many draws. In MLS it’s all about the wins. You can’t draw your way into the playoffs.
Wow, I guess at this point it’s not all luck but I don’t know who was there and missing for each team.
True, but in any case the Earthquakes aren’t nearly alone in having lost to an expansion team. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
St. Louis has outscored its last three opponents, 9-0, since Portland got an early tally. Ain’t any of it luck. Looks like they’re the MLS equivalent of the 1950 Cleveland Browns.
I still think they will come down to earth at some point but right now I think you have to just tip your hat.
St. Louis have a good game plan and execute it well. They’re getting better each game. They could win it all. How many teams have ever won 4-0 at altitude in Salt Lake City? Ever? I feel marginally better about the Quakes. Our team is not playing well but maybe all hope isn’t lost. Tutul Raman told me at Jacks Bar that STL runs the Red Bulls press, so it will be interesting to see how the Quakes handle that match. Tutul said few teams are capable of running it. STL appears to have mastered it.
We're doing OK. Not great, but OK. I know people don't want to hear about "process" over results, but if your process is solid the results will come over the long haul. Luchi has been saying these kinds of things, and IMO it's the kind of attitude you need to stick with to make it thru the ups and downs of a long season. I think we've been the better team in 3 of the 5 games, which is not bad, and turning 2 of those 3 into wins is not bad. Not great, but not bad. We are still tied for 5th on points, but we're starting to get a bit of a glut on home games, and if we don't win next week, we are likely going to slip, over the next month, to our familiar spot around 10th or so.
St. Louis isn't just lucky, they're good. Very good, but they really haven't been tested yet. Let them trounce LAFC and then we can speak of championships.
Also, it will be interesting to see how high pressing team sustain over a season or even multiple seasons. Will the second strong players provide the same coordinated effort and intensity? Liverpool was very successful pressing the other team out of the game but now they can't sustain any more. Personally I hate teams that get a free pass from overly physical play in the name of high pressing.
