Of course, but my point wasn't to point that out, it's to point out that he starts slow. It took him years to get Liverpool and Dortmund where he wanted. He'll need to have a team like Madrid playing somewhere around peak Dortmund/Liverpool from day 1. That's pretty impossible, and he wouldn't want that for himself either.
Part of the reason for that is that Dortmund and Liverpool had less resources than Madrid. Once Klopp assembled Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson and Mane, that team started flying. But that took a couple of years (the first one he arrived after the transfer window if I recall correctly), whereas here it should be achievable in one window with the Mbappe package and the release of Hazard and co. And we already have the Courtois, Militao, Fede, Tchouameni, Cama and Vini core in place.
Reliable Brazilian journo: 🚨🌕| Real Madrid want to decide who will be Carlo Ancelotti's replacement ASAP, the list has been set:🇩🇪 Julian Nagelsmann🇫🇷 Zinédine Zidane🇦🇷 Marcelo Gallardo🇦🇷 Mauricio Pochettino@brunoandrd #rmalive pic.twitter.com/lNLCB4wj3Z— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) March 26, 2023 🚨🌕| Real Madrid want to decide who would be their manager if Ancelotti leaves ASAP, so that they don't lose another top candidate like Tuchel. @brunoandrd #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) March 26, 2023
Think Ceballos could also press pretty effectively. But yes I was thinking of Vini + our midfield young guns.
Zidane does play favorites. That may be detrimental to a rebuilding team. Klopp or Alonso would be nice.
Every manager plays favorites. You people repeat this as if Zidane were an alien doing something unfathomable.
The Nagelsmann option is interesting to me, I think he will do well with our group of young players, they’re at a point in their career where they need a coach with some tactical know how more than a man manager, the latter is great for veterans who mainly need to be motivated but not so much for young players.
If the club decides to switch now that Tuchel isn’t an option, I’d go Nagelsmann. A tactically inclined coach could do this next generation some good. Let Xabi get a little more experience and see how he progresses for later. That being said….we still have 2 major trophies to go for. 90 minutes from the copa final and alive in the CL. Could still be a good season.
Nagelsmann is younger and less experienced than some of our players. Mourinho didn't achieve much but he at least gave it an honest shot. Nagelsmann is 35 and has less experience in coaching than some of our players have while still being active. Hard pass for a club of this magnitude. People see football as a video game, where you set up the pieces and it just works, but Benzema will have a tough time going from being coached by Zidane to somebody his age that grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Experience and pedigree matters.
‼️Carlo Ancelotti fully trusts Dani Carvajal, he believes that he’s a player who often gives the necessary balance to his team. @marca #rmalive 🇪🇸 pic.twitter.com/pzbHhrjyYU— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) March 25, 2023
Why Nagelsmann? I also don't get Poch. What significant trophy have they achieved with stacked teams that they weren't automatically expected to win? At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Jose Mourinho is back.
Same could be said about Zidane though. I will trust that Nagelsman might not be for us but not for that reason. We definitely need guys that can win with big clubs. To me is should be Zidane unless he is not interested
Yeah, I would like that also but whomever published that scathing letter when he quit did some damage to his relationship with the club upper mgmt imho.
Absolutely no for me, best days long behind him and wasn't a fan when he was here before, did not like his style.
Mourinho was tactical, he laid the foundation for the success we’ve had in the past decade, Zidane 2.0 was pretty tactical as well.
