Feyenoord are through... As long as Arsenal can beat Sporting, I don't think there's a way that Portugal passes the Netherlands for 24/25 CL. Even if Benfica win every match, they wouldn't get enough points to hop into 6th.

So for next season's Eredivisie, 1st/2nd will be direct into CL GS. 3rd into CL qualifying. Cup Winner direct into EL GS. 4th into EL qualifying. I'm assuming they'll keep the playoff for the final spot (ECL qualifying).

No, it is the 24-25 CL season that happens. Next year is one group stage and one qualifier.

  5. That Lazio goalie had some great saves and also luck on his side (trhee times AZ hit the posts), otherwise the score for AZ could have higher, like that of Feyenoord.

probably goes to PKs. I don't think Arsenal care too much about this competition. They want to win the EPL

  8. This has been the argument used for epl teams sucking in Europe. However if you can't deal with an EL match, while competing for a CL spot, how do you think things will be when you play in the CL with heavy competitors to battle?

Really stinks about Sporting winning. But still, what great results… especially two wins from AZ over a top tier Serie A side.

  12. Not only that, but the way it was done. AZ was scary good.

Yep next years Eredivisie (23/24) will decide those places. As long as one of AZ / Feyenoord can advance OR one of Sporting / Benfica don’t, we should be fine.

Feyenoord get a favorable draw in the Europa league as ManU is on the opposite side of the bracket. First up is Roma.

  17. Italian papers were impressed by AZ.

  22. See my comments on it in the superleague threads.
It's still a wishfull thinking concept. He mentions the EU court case, but that already has been falling towards the UEFA/national Fa's.
He's clinging to a concept that requires the clubs to stay in the national leagues, which the FA's don't have to accept.
He keeps, like the former incarnation of the esl, insisting the UEFA/FA's keep them from going their way, which is a blatant lie. Nobody under EU laws is prevented from starting an own competition, especially an European wide one. The big hurdle they have is that it's dead on arrival when they do that. The single requisite of that concept is the deadly parasite form, by being part of the normal competition, while at the same time syphoning the bulk of the money for European matches away.
That concept has been torpedoed by the EU.
This was also what I years ago already in those esl threads predicted. When an independent esl was brought to the table I already wrote why that was economically impossible and why the clubs going in would be dead within two years. Than they came up with the parasite incarnation, of which I also years ago predicted how that would turn out into a failure, and everything why I predicxted that turned out to become reality.
Now this 3d form is simply a last gasp attempt to erect it within the national leagues system, which simply isnot going to be accepted by the FA's and with the EU judgement on the table is a futile execise.
It's telling that he thinks the verdict of the European Court still goes his way. He's an imbecil. Unfortunately I can't find the verdict of the EU Supreme Court anymore (I wished I made a copy of it years ago), but a similar case has been ruled by the EU SC where a business X was part of a cooperation of businesses that provided benefits for their members. That business X however thought it was profitable to join another cooperation of businesses, that was in direct competition with the first one. When that first one discovered business X was parasiting on them while member of a competitor they kicked them out, which was harmfull for Business X, so they went to court as far as the EUSC. The EUSC decided they were kicked out rightfully, as you can't expect from an organisation to serve a member of a competing organisation.

This AD article is simply lazy journalism without the right info, it's more a propaganda outlet for a losing party.
