Cowardly penalty. Why has the best nation at penalties changes from old school? Just put it in the side netting.
I only started watching in the 2nd half, but I'm seeing a lot of Germany's trademark defensive casualness, difficulty finishing, and offensive indirectness.
I did like the balance of the initial lineup with Can as a physical defensive presence at 6, did we look solid in that alignment?
with Can we didn't allow anything which can't be said for 2nd half. Because neither Kimmich nor Goretzka are DMs but CMs.
Schade bringing in an important element with his dribbling and has a header game too. wish we can see all of the youth playing together instead of always seperate.
Fair, but "can play" and "is optimized by" are two different things. Wirtz is better more central to me, and I want him at his best.
I mean we won a WC with Ozil, Muller, Gotze playing and all of them are more central. reality all of our players are flexible and that is important thing to have. Your attackers if non-CF should be playable at AM/W MIN.
Good win overall, but Havertz missing his penalty is indicative that newer German generations lack the steel of previous ones. That ref was very nice to look at.
one would also say Musiala's best is AM but they can't all play there and he does have speed+dribbling to be more useful for us at W too.
Flexibility is the key. The attacking players behind Fullkrug all should be able to interchange, Musiala, wirtz, Werner, Havertz, Ganebry, sane, Shady, Brandt, Hoffman, any of these guys should be flexible off the focal point who is Fullkrug.
Peru was awful. However, their players made good runs into our penalty box, and if any of their crosses had connected, it would have been a far more interesting game. Getting into a good position on our defence is far too easy. It's gonna be tough against Belgium, hopefully we can play better.
