Hansi Flick about... ... his impression of the team: It's refreshing because there are new players, it gives new energy. We are very happy with the development. We are also very satisfied with the training sessions from the entire team. It's a high intensity, a lot of attention, the quality of the pass is very good. We're really very happy with what we've seen this week. ... the newcomers to the team: I can't single out any individuals. We invited players that many didn't have on their list. If they were all further along in their development, they would have been with us longer. That's why it's important to encourage and challenge the players and give them the chance to show themselves. Malick Thiaw does it very well. You can really tell he's taken the next step at AC Milan. Felix Nmecha is a player who has tremendous qualities. Mergim Berisha has also shown in training that he can score goals. Marius Wolf has a lot of speed on the flank and brings in a lot of dynamics. Those are the things we need. Josha Vagnoman shows what we expected from him. He has a different approach to fulfilling his position, we like that. ... Marc-André ter Stegen's style of play compared to Manuel Neuer: We have a lot of quality in this position. Marc will do the two games. I don't think it changes that much. Marc is a fantastic footballer who controls the space behind the chain very well. He is always playable when in possession of the ball. ... a starting line-up with two strikers: We'll play with two strikers, with Timo Werner and Niclas Füllkrug. Both have done very well in training and have a strong presence in the penalty area. ... Emre Can: Emre does a good job. He showed up straight away, is loud. Those are the things we hope for from him. He is very experienced and knows what is important. ... his sometimes surprising nominations: We have great confidence in the players who are there. When new players join, something develops within the group, which we also wanted to provoke in part. It is also part of a development that you show yourself, present yourself and push the team. We need a team that also talks to each other on the pitch. I have to say quite frankly that we are very happy with the intensity we have in the group. But we all know that in the end it's always the games that count. We want to win the duels, that's our big goal - and we'll do everything to achieve it. ... tactical changes in defence: Every player is jointly responsible for defence. We practiced a lot against the ball this week. The back four must be well-rehearsed, the automatisms must work for 90 minutes. The two sixes are also important. It is elementary that they also do their defensive duties. Those are the priorities we set this week. ... the goals against Peru: In addition to the knowledge we get in every game, it's a fact that we also want to win the games. We want to show that the team approaches the game with a lot of passion. Those are the things every fan would want to see too. If the level of commitment that we have seen here can also be found on the pitch, then we can be very happy with it.
2 CF formation works best with wingers/wide midfielders though. We need a new Bernd Schneider lol. Otherwise it is the same issue we have seen previously with everyone coming narrow and overcrowding the centre.
can everyone at DFB+German Media STFU already. The former world-class striker gave little hope in the debate about a real nine. "Of course it can't be solved within a year or two that we don't have this classic centre-forward now. That's just a fact," said Völler. It will take a few more years "until they are used again, but we are working on it," promised the 1990 world champion. what fricking nonesense is this BS??? so they continue to insist that nobody is a real 9.......can someone explain why dfb doesn't give 2 shits about complete CFs like Fullkrug, Berisha etc and how they never STFU about wanting classical CFs like Sandro Wagner. I'm no expert but who gives a shit about classical CFs they are irrelevant. and also lies there are classical CFs in Germany like Polter, Terodde, Selke etc but they aren't Senior NT material and that's what all these clowns ignore. And 2BL is a HEAVEN for that type of CFs too because classical CFs is perfect place in 2BL.
What do you guys think of the 4-2-2-2 that is talked about I think it would be interesting with Havertz playing of Füllkrug up top, with Wirtz and Musiala (sadly injured this time) behind.
Have to see how it works, as long as we don't overcrowd the centre it could be good, but my concern is that is what will happen especially against bus parking teams.
True, seems like almost every team is more or less bussparking against us to. Might work though with Wirtz and Musialas creativity
I agree full backs are key. Wolf and Raum have good attacking attributes, I guess Can will be asked to hold when they go forward. I hope we see some better crosses as with Füllkrug up in attack we have a presence in the area. Not everything needs to always be tight combination play into feet. Also I hope we play at a good tempo. Most of our recent friendlies have been pretty boring and stale. Let’s get the fans excited again.
Imagine Füllkrug and Berisha together, we could have the option to either play through or bulldozer most bus parking defences lol.
Berisha is a player even ex players are I wouldn't want to play against him aka he's an A-Hole who shoves himself on Defenders and purposefully draws fouls too.
I think what they mean by a real #9 is a striker that can play well alone upfront. Besides someone like Gerd Muller, most successful NT strikers were always part of a tandem, a 2 man strike force, so we never were good at producing real #9s.
but by today standards Gerd Muller isn't a classicl CF given how short he is. there is no such thing as a real #9. Whole point of a CF is to put the ball in net and historically speaking majority of our CFs were not even classical CFs if you look at their height. Klose was a classical CF even without height in 190s but transformed into a complete CF later on. just for unknown reason dfb is obsessed with height/Classical CF. Complete CF is the ideal CF NOT classical. and Fullkrug has shown that he can play sole CF for Germany and be a hit but everyone pretends like he doesn't exist.

1st XI for Wolf (NT debut and trying out RB options), Wirtz and Fullkrug (yeah, LOL on Flick) for me Wolf is funny in that the RB position is the most open position in NT, so yeah Wolf has a shot to cement himself.
