A Louisville Metro Police officer unleashed his police dog on a 14-year-old Black boy who was spotted lying on the ground, leading to severe injuries and hospitalization, according to a report published on Wednesday by the Department of Justice.

The findings are part of the DOJ's broader two-year investigation into the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government that was launched after Breonna Taylor was killed during a raid by seven officers in March 2020.

 

It is most definitely not just a "white people thing."

I have had to deal with 10 or 15 sovereign citizens involved in various lawsuits and most were not white people.
At my former organization we would have one wander in about every 6 months.
They would start into their legal situation, which would start out sounding rational, but within about 15 minutes, my associate (who often dealt with them first) and I would look at each other and just say "Uh, oh, here we go" and the sovereign citizen would be off about
land patents or
that taxes were illegal (or that they were "immune" from taxes for...reasons), or
that they were only "citizens" of the state where they live and not the United States, or
that their mortgage was illegal and, therefore, they did not have to pay the loan and the bank could not foreclose.

Most of the sovereign citizens I dealt with were fighting foreclosures or real estate taxes.

All were more than a bit out there. Many had genuine psychological issues and others, I suspect, were just assholes.

 

The West Memphis (AR) police and attorneys fouled up the West Memphis 3 case (including the wrongly convicted accused and the 3 killed kids). My true feelings would likely get me into trouble on this site.

 

Seems relevant…

“the city paid” is the problem. Cops will not be motivated to change abusive/aggressive behavior until these settlements come straight from their own pockets.

I actually commented on this tweet. This is the same city that a lot of drunk cop to go back to work because it's co-workers covered up from and since then the cop has been promoted. And this is the same police force that killed Elijah McClain.

Cops Sue Afroman for 'Emotional Distress' After He Made Music Videos of Botched Raid
A group of police officers who raided the home of rapper Afroman have sued the musician for "emotional distress" after he used footage of the botched raid in music videos for his songs “Lemon Pound Cake” and “Will You Help Me Repair My Door,” as well as in social media posts. The officers allege they have faced embarrassment, ridicule, humiliation, and loss of reputation from Afroman’s posts.

They're not wrong about that last sentence.

I can say with nearly complete confidence that I wouldn't have ever known how fat and stupid these dumbshit cops were if they hadn't brought this lawsuit. It's as if they wanted to prove the efficacy of the Streisand Effect.
