I know many players will go through long periods they're forced to go through matches carrying injuries... but this doesn't sound great coming from Oberdorf...

I'd believe you... if it wasn't for a pretty consistent trend of Wolfsburg appearing like this away from home in the UWCL lol.

I still feel like Wolfsburg haven't produced one performance as good as the peak we saw from them last season...:cautious:; and you can tell from their post match interviews it was never the plan to allow PSG to remain so comfortable in possession of the ball over the 90 mins.

You know where she's even more effective on the elite stage... centrally, inside the opponents PK box lol...:whistling:

In the past, Popp's general quality more than enough to allow her to remain a very relevant presence within the mid-field battle of the games elite level matches. But now she's in a time frame the higher general technical/tactical quality of female CM's, demands a far more impressive skill set to destroy, or control the flow of play.

And it's within this scenario I'm watching Popp in CM role, running around kicking people, or launching random long balls into space, no longer appearing productive to her team in the way it used to.

HA! Stanway thinks this seasons Bayern aren't aggressive/physical enough for her liking...:giggle:

Athleticism will only take you so far, if your tactically, or technically limited. Hendrich, Brand, Pajor, Oberdorf, SJJ, all being very technically gifted players in various aspects of the game, to help elevate their impressive levels of athleticism...;)

What the US players all have is a very clear IDENTITY to the way their nation is meant to play soccer. Like I keep telling you, this something Germany also have, but lost for many years via extremely poor leadership.

Plus it's funny having anyone highlight Wolfsburg for their supposedly oppressive physical attributes, when the foul count between PSG Vs Wolfsburg actually 13 : 14... This surely just another example of people seeing whatever they want to see when it comes to German players/German teams.

Are you attempting to ridicule me with this lol...:cautious:

Anyway way... in a year I predicted Wolfsburg set to finally lift another UWCL trophy, I'd just like to believe German players, or Bundesliga clubs, finally receive some damn respect within a competition they've had a long history of impressive performances.

If we're being honest, Jones should still be regarded as the best CB the wnt ever seen; this simply based on the level of success her career had in helping establish the wnt as the best in the world over the duration of her career.

But yes.. technically, I'd defiantly say Hegering probably the most impressive wnt CB I've seen, with the WC probably the last time we'll have an opportunity to see if her partnership alongside an equally impressive Hendrich, finally ready to win Germany a major competition again...:cautious:

Meaning... should Germany win the WC, then we can talk about Hegering, or Hendrich, potentially being elevated into the status of Jones, and Krahn. But right now... Hegering has to make up for lost time, and start wining as many major competitions as possible.

@hotjam2 It looks like Endemann joining Wolfsburg really hurt the interest in the team at bottom of this league...

Hoffenheim losing two key players for next season, could still be a very good team with the right recruitment policy. This is a good sign...

If they couldn't even score against Postdam, it's difficult to figure where that could happen. :coffee:

Away to Arsenal, Vs at home to PSG... in view of both clubs next matches, it's interesting to see Bayern the team who leaves out one of their most important players.

So lets see how this works out for them...:cautious:

I always liked Krahn, way better than Peter and Henning lol. Bartusiak was also a solid CB, despite her obvious weaknesses too... but it's terrible when you think that Peter and Henning were next in line for so many years without bringing someone like Elsig into the team...

Only early, but so far it appears Wolfsburg haven't left Paris lol. Generally poor short passing continues, with everything focused on forcing long passes towards Pajor to chase...o_O

The way they're forcing Popp into a what... left forward role instead of playing her as the main striker...

Peter was always a better FB than she ever was a CB, with Henning never developing into the player many thought she would be once she started to deal with major injuries. So yeah... compared to those days, it's significantly better for wnt CB selection.

It's been a huge issue all season... but both players continue to score goals, regardless of how poor the teams general performance remains...

Stanway against the bar. Bayern is the better team.
