Can Ronald Koeman Lead the Oranje Crush to Victory

I would phase Memphis out slowly, starting now. I don't care how many goals he has. It is key goal in crucial time/match that counts and Memphis has not risen to any. Time to slowly bring it Dallinga. Memphis may still have a spot but he is not the focus or leading the attack anymore. If Koeman still stick with Blind, Klaassen, Cillessen, De Vrij, Berghuis, Wijnaldum, De Roon, Clasie (or Hateboer, BMI)...I think I can forget about competing for any title. Take advantage of this opportunity and phase out the oldies.

I've been calling for his removal from the starters line up since along time, already when Koeman was in his first stint. He simply plays shit for a long time now.

Yup. Simons runs his ass off half the pitch to stop a Frenchman to get into the box and bloody Taylor falls on his ass after a confrontation with Griesman and thinks it's a good idea to stay on his ass while Griesman gets on his feet fast and runs into the box to score a goal.

 

Do they fecking scout Orange candidates (Koeman and staff) or do they simply use the players list of the Dutch top 3 plus a bunch abroad they know.

 

Huge problem without Frenkie as we expected but also Koopmeiners who can play some football also.
De Roon and Taylor you could tell immediate we’re not comfortable on the ball and the French could see it.
Geertruida was food out there for French.
Lucky not to get sent off, but does his hamstring should have come off with Taylor.
Oranje badly need to change things by finding someone to run with the ball to put pressure on the opposition by playing with a greater tempo.
No Gakpo who can drop in and run and need to feed Xavi more to get the attack going moving forward.
Frimpong can’t play in on the right even in attack for Koeman?
Last I saw he plays well in Bundesliga and Champions League.
Koeman way off on this decision.
Second half I was disappointed with Oranje allowing France with more time on the ball.
We get subs of Blind the human cone and Klaassen who can’t find a touch or pass for Orange but for France.

I think to be fair after witnessing this beat down we have to question why not take a deeper look at some guys.
Memphis had crap match and was not working hard enough for me off the ball should have been subbed off.
Give Brobbey a taste of the action, but no.

Koeman can be pardoned on this one, Even though he will try to cover up his selection fragilities with the illness that struck the team but If he doesn’t take the heed from this game, he shudnt be around for long.

There no rooms for berghuis, klaassen, blind, De Roon and wijnaldum in the team. It’s time to clear these dead woods and I hope we will see the changes vs Gibraltar.

Geertruida, first game, defensively looked ok, but was clumsy with his tackles. Again to start him at CB backfired and offensively at RB , no cutting edge. Hence is it worth investing in him when Dumfries brings the same style of play. This question needs to be answered and also whether he can be upgrade to dumfries. Otherwise the French were very active on his flank.

I thought instead of weghorst, Malen should have replaced Taylor. Depay on the wings kills the momentum of the flow as he tends to pause in between. With Lang, Danjuma and Gakpo, they bring more fluidity to the game than Depay who seems to be far off from his best days. For me koeman got this one wrong and again while weghorst work rate and energy was quiet evident, He was just lurking in the back ground and never really pose any danger to the French defense compared to when malen came on. I think weghorsts story is the same at United currently. To think about it you need clinical strikers in these types games to stand a chance and you have to admit with weghorst this often is scarce.

Simons showed flashes of brilliance but then again players around him were poor. I think he started on the left then went in the middle and then ended up playing what looked like double pivot with de roon at point back wijnaldum on the left playing high and him on the right.

In generally the faster this game is forgotten the better. There is really nothing positive to say about the game apart from the French being on another level. I think all the doughts, evaluation on which he selected certain players should just end here and make way for a good transition

 

Geertruida was piss poor and showed no awareness especially on 1st and 3rd goals.
Dumb cheap foul which led to goal # 2 with one of his many mistimed challenges.
Slow and ponderous on the ball with a ton of backpasses proved his game is not worthy of wearing the Oranje shirt.
As I’ve stated before Oranje speed of play and lack of proactive movement was quite poor so Koeman and these players need to dig deep and fix immediately.

 

So are we allowed to criticize Koeman now?

I mean Christ… I did not expect us to beat the French today, especially with the exodus of key players due to injury or a virus. But starting a debutant at CB whose real position is a FB against the runner up of the WC and arguably the best team in international world football is absolute madness.

Aké or Timber should have been CB and Geertruida at FB. I never liked Timber as a FB. Actually should have been FRIMPONG at RB. Koeman looking like an absolute clown with his Frimpong comments. The latter must have looked at this game and reconsidered playing for England or Ghana.

Then shifting over at the starting midfield and the French would have laughed incessantly. Taylor who just always looks bang average to me. I pray that he won’t be this generation’s Blind. De Roon, same story basically. And Wijnaldum, who can be forgiven because he’s been out so long. However, I still feel as if his time at Oranje is over and we should move on.

I feel that Xavi is more effective as an attacking midfielder as opposed to a winger. With him and Frenkie in midfield we’d be a lot more creative going forward.

Lastly, Memphis just isn’t it of late. Hard to criticize a guy who’s the second top scorer for the Dutch NT but you can’t deny what’s evident. We need a revamp of our attack. At the very least there won’t be a drop off in quality cause this was atrocious.

 

Can’t solely blame the lack of talent when you start a debutant FB at CB against arguably the best and most talented NT on the planet. Can’t solely blame the lack of talent when your selection criteria is crap.

You leave our most talented RB at home cause of some BS reason. Look at what the “right” player for his “setup” resulted in. Lmao. It’s so ridiculous. You leave some in form midfielders out because they play in a league you don’t follow or rate but you take some average ones from the Eredivisie. K den.

That midfield was atrocious.

Again, I didn’t expect us to win either, but this absolute embarrassment could have been avoided IMO.

Anyway. He’ll get away with the excuse of the exodus of key players which is somewhat justified of course. But I also hope he takes a good look at his selection criteria and gets his head out of his arse for the next time.

De Franse media zijn niet onder de indruk van het Nederlands elftal na de 4-0 nederlaag in Parijs. Sportkrant L'Équipe laat geen spaan heel van het elftal van bondscoach Ronald Koeman, die zelf ook een 2 krijgt toegedeeld. Lutsharel Geertruida, Jurriën Timber en Memphis Depay moeten het eveneens doen met dat cijfer. Nathan Aké krijgt de hoogste beoordeling aan de kant van Oranje met een 4. Ajacied Kenneth Taylor, die al na 32 minuten werd gewisseld, krijgt pijnlijk genoeg niet eens een cijfer.

L'Équipe oordeelt dat Frankrijk onder leiding van aanvoerder Kylian Mbappé veel te sterk was voor Oranje. “Ze hebben de tegenstander verpletterd. Frankrijk speelde met veel plezier tegen een verzwakt en bij vlagen rampzalig Nederland.” De sterspeler van Paris Saint-Germain, die in het Stade de France tweemaal trefzeker was, wordt dan ook beloond met een 9. Antoine Griezmann, die al na twee minuten de openingstreffer maakte voor les Bleus, krijgt een 8.
De beoordelingen van de Nederlandse internationals zijn moordend. Enkel Aké kan rekenen op een lichte onvoldoende, terwijl het gros van de spelers het moet doen met een 3. Ze werden gedragen door het duo Mbappé-Griezmann.” Ook RMC Sport richt zich op de prestaties van Mbappé. “Bij de vierde treffer kreeg hij de Hollandse defensie letterlijk op de knieën.” Frankrijk speelt maandagavond tegen Ierland, terwijl voor Nederland een thuisduel met Gibraltar wacht. De EK-kwalificatiereeks voor Oranje kon niet slechter beginnen. De uitwedstrijd bij Frankrijk ging na een dramatische eerste helft met 4-0 verloren door het elftal van bondscoach Ronald Koeman, die al na dertig minuten ingreep en Kenneth Taylor wisselde. De Ajacied krijgt dan ook veruit het laagste punt van alle internationals.


De beoordelingen van de spelers van Oranje


Jasper Cillessen: 5
Het was een van de belangrijkste speerpunten van Koeman: de keeperskwestie rustig oplossen. Of Cillessen dat in Saint-Denis gedaan heeft, is nog maar de vraag. De goalie uit Groesbeek ging niet vrijuit bij de 2-0 van Dayot Upamecano en hoewel de overige tegengoals hem niet aan te rekenen zijn, staan de cijfers toch ietwat pijnlijk. Vier tegengoals leveren Cillessen geen plusje op zijn rapport op.

Jurriën Timber: 5
Timber wilde heel graag vooruit en vergat daardoor af en toe dat het met ruimte in de rug lastig verdedigen is tegen Kylian Mbappé. Die kon daardoor meermaals ontsnappen over links en de derde goal van de Fransen kwam tot stand toen Timber nog op de vijandelijke helft stond. De defensie van Oranje zag er na rust wel een stuk degelijker uit, al had dat ook te maken met minder inzet aan Franse zijde.







Lutsharel Geertruida: 6,5
De verdediger van Feyenoord werd meteen voor de leeuwen gegooid, want tijdens zijn debuut moest hij onder meer Mbappé zien af te stoppen. Dat dat niet altijd kan, werd duidelijk bij de 3-0 van de aanvaller van Paris Saint-Germain. Geertruida was hem kwijt en werd op de tegengoal aangekeken door Memphis, maar helemaal terecht was dat niet. Geertruida speelde, op dat ene moment na, een goede wedstrijd als debutant en het was extra zuur dat juist hij geblesseerd van het veld moest.

Virgil van Dijk: 5,5
De defensie van het Nederlands elftal had het in de eerste 45 minuten zeer lastig en ook Van Dijk kreeg de organisatie maar niet op orde. Samen met de bondscoach werd het in de rust echter een stuk beter neergezet en dus werden de Franse aanvallers, die ook niet echt hun best meer deden, grotendeels onder controle gehouden in de tweede helft. Ondanks die vierde tegengoal van Mbappé krijgt Van Dijk een hele, hele krappe voldoende.

Nathan Aké: 6
Frankrijk had weinig kansen nodig om aan doelpunten te komen, maar zonder Aké waren les Bleus nog effectiever geweest. De stopper van Manchester City voorkwam immers een zeker doelpunt van Kingsley Coman door net op tijd zijn been uit te steken. Coman was sowieso de minst actieve aanvaller van de Fransen en dat had alles te maken met het degelijke optreden van Aké. Hij verdient als een van de weinigen een voldoende.

Marten de Roon: 4,5
In de eerste helft waren het aantal foute passes van De Roon niet op een hand te tellen. De Golfbreker, waarvan toch vooral degelijkheid wordt verwacht, bracht niet wat hij moet brengen en stond met balverlies ook aan de basis van de 2-0 van de Fransen. Dat De Roon zeventig minuten mocht blijven staan en Taylor er na een half uur al vanaf moest, was eigenlijk niet helemaal eerlijk.

Georginio Wijnaldum: 6
Oranje moest het maandenlang noodgedwongen en ook niet noodgedwongen zonder Wijnaldum stellen. Dat de vice-captain weer terug is, hebben we tegen Frankrijk kunnen zien. Het was weliswaar een moeilijke wedstrijd om je als Nederlandse speler te onderscheiden, maar Wijnaldum was betrokken bij de meeste gevaarlijke momenten die Oranje bij elkaar speelde en wist Memphis zo nu en dan als vanouds te vinden.

Kenneth Taylor: 3
Na dertig minuten voetballen had Koeman genoeg gezien van Taylor. De middenvelder van Ajax veroorzaakte in het eerste half uur de 1-0 van de Fransen door balverlies te lijden én het duel met Antoine Griezmann te slap aan te gaan, waarna in het vervolg van de wedstrijd zelfs de simpelste passes mislukten. Taylor zakte compleet door het ijs in het Stade de France en moest uit zijn lijden verlost worden.

Steven Berghuis: 5
De Ajacied werd niet vaak gevonden aan de rechterkant, maar als het dan lukte, deed Berghuis zijn uiterste best om nog wat van de aanval te maken. Toch leek het telkens alsof de spelmaker uit Apeldoorn net iets te veel tijd nodig had. Na de rust kwam Berghuis ook nog eens veel minder aan de bal en het was dan ook logisch dat Koeman met nog twintig minuten op de klok besloot om Donyell Malen te brengen.

Memphis Depay: 4
De aanvalsleider van Oranje werd een aantal keer in stelling gebracht, maar evenzovaak leidde de aanval tot niets. Dat had vaak te maken met de foute beslissingen van Memphis. Het gebrek aan wedstrijdritme leek hem parten te spelen, al was het zo nu en dan ook schrijnend om te zien hoe weinig dreiging er van de aanvaller van Atlético Madrid uitging. Zijn gemiste strafschop in blessuretijd voelde iedereen aankomen.

Depay, Wijnaldum, Van Dijk.... deze kunnen echt niet meer, wat is toch de drijfveer hen de hand boven het hoofd te houden?? De Roon, Blind (cadeautje: 100e cap halen), Cillesen, Taylor....trrrrrraag als slakken op een teerton, voorspelbaar slecht. Geertruida was, in tegenstelling tot wat menigeen schreef, één van de beteren. Maar met pannenkoeken om je heen valt jouw kwaliteit ook moeilijk te meten.
Beste bondscoach: in dit geval hadden de 17 miljoen andere bondscoaches wel gelijk!!

Whether we like it or not

 

Bottom line is we just dont have a very good generation right now.
We'll have to wait until we have the following:

1. A world class striker.
2. Maybe a false striker as well.
3. A much better midfield to compliment Frenkie.
4. A better keeper
5. A good RB

You guys can argue Frimpong and Lang shouldve started, but I dont think it wouldve made much difference. We might have lost 3-0 instead of 4-0. Whoopie fukcing doo!!

So for now our expectations shouldnt be very high.
We are certainly not going to win any tournaments over the next few years.

Thats the harsh reality

 

Starting different, better players would certainly have made a difference. Having better outlets for the ball who can actually advance the ball forward and create something instantly changes the dynamic of a game where it’s constantly one-way traffic.

Saying the contrary is just counterintuitive. If we can say Frenkie would have made a difference then a couple better players would certainly have done the same.

No one is claiming we would have beaten the French, but this humiliation could have been avoided. That’s what it’s a about.

Koeman failed in his selections and then failed in putting together a better starting 11, simple as.

 

Geertruida a 6.5 is ridiculous and people have no idea what they’re watching or talking about.
