I was referring more to a Benzema back up for this up coming season.

If we get Bellingham, go with 4-4-2 and get a good RB. Can't bench any of Fede, Tchouameni and Camavinga next season. If we get Gabri instead of Bellingham, 4-3-3 could be the option.

I think a change in formation is the way to go based on the players in the squad and available targets.

Play a narrow diamond midfield, 2 strikers up front.

Forget any formation that requires width from the fullbacks. That’s catering to the worst parts of our squad and not the best.

I expect a change for next year. Fran should be joining the team next season, hope to see Tobias given a chance before end of season to see if he is up for it.

desperately need a RB, RW, a CF and some creativity in midfield or a signing to help with that

The team barely has one reliable striker now.

    Why make the problem worse?

Whatever happened to Peter? At this time last season, he seemed to be a future prospect on the right wing.

Damn...didn't know Moussa Diaby was like this. A natural at RW it seems. I might need to get on this train especially that he's a compatriot (Mali origin). Looks like a serious handful for defenders.

It seems you didn't receive the memo: no natural right winger out there is better than Valverde on the right wing, and if they are, they are too expensive and thats why we need to buy Bellingham for 150 million.

From my limited time watching Diaby he doesn’t float my boat much, will be 24 years old this summer so is playing close to his peak. I’d say it’s the depleted right flank in football today generally that makes him look better than he is, but that’s just me.

Is he better than Brahim who will probably be a role player here next season? And if he is not that great, the next coach will continue to deploy Fede over there and send Rodrgyo back to that position where we actually won the Double.

Hey, someone changed his wiki page.... he is now a Real Madrid player since 2018. :)

Another journalist, from the same publication (Marca), has said that we will NOT bid for Jude this summer:

Jude is clearly a great talent, but in a position I think we have well covered. It's a shame our entire summer planning and seemingly a bunch of renewals are being held up by this one signing that looks less than 50/50.

Mbappe last summer vibes where we put all of our eggs in one basket.

No we don't have it well covered. Modric and Kroos shouldn't be counted on as starters next season.
You try everything for Bellingham to technically secure middlefield for the next decade. Hell we can even go for the Celta kid.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll buy a striker or get rid of pretty much anyone. Don't even think we'll get fullbacks.. I think Bellingham and renewing Ceballos or getting the Celta kid would be great considering my expectations.

TL;DR : I think the club will use excuses of 2024 being a massive year with Mbappe, Haaland. Excuse of 70M on a 16yo teen.
Excuse of Last Dance of Modric, Kroos, Benz, Carvajal.

We have Tchouameni, Valverde, Camavinga and Ceballos in midfield, all of whom could start. Then you add in Kroos and Modric who can still play better than all of them on their day but don’t have the legs to do it all season.

There is no club in the world that has this midfield depth. Adding to it without fixing the other areas is a luxury. It would be like buying the second best goalie in the world despite having Courtois.

If there are no great options at RW, RB or LB, then fair enough, go for a top class midfielder and shuffle Valverde into RW. But let’s not pretend there’s some big gaping hole in the midfield positions that we need to fill.

I see a report that Calafat is in Brazil and RM might be ‘Hijack’ Vitor roque from Barca which he is very linked to them. No doubt he great potential and has good numbers, but it seems Madrid bet on Endrick and Alvaro Rodriguez
