Maguire in a nutshell - receives the ball, passes to oppo player, commits to tackle he won't make (gets retrospectively carded too - as is nasty stamp on players foot), out-of-position, slow to get back, oppo player scores from where he should be at LCB. Bro, how is Maguire still playing ahead of some other fantastic players. HOW??? pic.twitter.com/Su04zp0wEu— KAYP (@ndi_Kayp) March 23, 2023
if there is one thing you can't accuse Bayern of it is not being decisive i believe this is more of that "progressive passing" on display. thank goodness ten Hag has him drifting out the door already
Maguire is great in the air and those 50 50s but his passing Vs a press is. Horrible tomori or white should be in there
IMO Tomori and Smalling deserve more consideration. Maguire needs to be a lot better in the air, but I remember Steve Bruce being very similar in that he didn't jump high. Difference was Brucie liked to get into the mixer (it's how his nose got bent two ways) and at least threw himself at the ball. That's why Lisandro scored against Arsenal on the corner. Brave and just threw himself at the ball. Maguire is a lot like Wout: they don't use their size effectively enough. They should be bulls in the box, but the way they act it's like they're afraid they'll step on their granny's garden flowers.
That's wild stuff. Tuchel's first game in charge after this break is against Dortmund and on April 11 face City in the CL QF.
How it started. New manager, new era, let's go! 🇳🇱 pic.twitter.com/US8eAnEY1w— 𝐀𝐅𝐂 𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐗 💎 (@TheEuropeanLad) March 24, 2023 How its going. 1-0 France. Not a big MLS guy, but our local expansion team is just smashing people at the moment. 5-0 and off to the best start of any expansion team in MLS history. STL SC are one of the few MLS teams I’ve seen that implement a proper press and the overall quality in the MLS shows that teams are just technically incapable of dealing with it. So many of their goals so far have been gifts due to pressing and causing turnovers.
Remember all those ex-player pundits like Carragher and others who laughed at us getting EtH and said we should have got Conte …
I totally forgot the Lou got a team. I saw my Red Bulls playing Charlotte and forgot they got a team too.
Austrian NT reporting Sabitzer picked up an injury while there. Great, back to McFred for the next few weeks. Squad depth is really being exposed lately.
MLS has become ridiculous. 18 of the 29 teams make the playoffs where teams can have an average or below-average year and just need to start playing well come October for the playoffs. I'm not anti-MLS, I've attended about 60 games in 20 years and will go to Red Bull Arena again a few times this year but jeez they may as well take the "League" out of MLS and just call it MS.
