I really wish we would start looking more into Omar Carabali and Gianfranco Gazzaniga these guys are young. Omar changed teams and is finally playing 90 min in Chile. Gianfranco Gazzaniga I know he plays in Spains 3rd division but if he were to come to Ecuador he could easily play for any of the top 4 teams. They both have Ecuadorian citizenship.

Enner wont be at the games with Australia.

Good opportunity to try someone else.

Piero playing as left wing back? Never seen him get that high up.

Gruezo & Plata are also out and he called up Marco Angulo & Joel Ordonez. We need to call up more stickers. I really would have liked to see Jordy Caicedo & Justin Cuero on the list.

I read this comment on YouTube and someone mentioned that Plata is the new Montero and now that I think of it, he is right. Montero was plagued with injuries y nunca despuntó. At one point he was unstoppable. Jordy, I would just let him do his thing. He hasn’t proven anything yet other than be a liability to his teams.

I just hate that our only 2 options as FW right now are Estrada and Rodriguez. Estrada hasnt been playing at all and Rodriguez hasnt really impressed at club level yet.

Our current talent of forwards is so sad lol. So disappointed in Plata… keeps getting hurt and messing up. Seems like he is not mature enough to keep getting better and jumping to the next level. The rest of the lineup is pretty good.

If he would have called Justin cuero I really would have applauded him. His track record in the u20 is great 18 games 12 goals and a call up in a friendly like this prior to his u20 WC would have probably gone a long way in motivating him.

Caught the coach really yelling at the players to position themselves. From what I saw he is instructing them into position correctly. That was really nice to see. That pass from Caicedo to Cifuentes was pure beauty.

I don’t get how Hincapié makes such dumb mistakes.

Not sure what to think about this team. How can we win when we have no forwards other than Valencia? Mena was terrible. Precisado was bad. Hincapié with stupid mistakes all the time. The right side is just not good at all. The more I see the less I am enthusiastic about Ecuador’s talent other than Caicedo, Mendez, and Estupiñan. Can’t grade the coaching because they just got here. The players have been playing together for a long time so that is not an excuse but they can’t produce. It’s sad Ecuador sucks so much.

I actually woke up at 5 to watch the game but decided to go back to sleep, looks like I made the right call. Haven’t watched the highlights either but the general consensus seems to be our players are at fault and Felix Sanchez can’t be blamed lol.

I don’t know why Hincapié is getting all the blame for the second gol when Ramirez decided to play from the back with the Australian forwards putting that much pressure in the area.

I hope this process isn't painful. Felix Sanchez style of play kinda requires that all our players can play from the back. Our gk and cb aren't really strong in that aspect. Especially when it also requires that our gk can play well with their feet.

Any high pressure uptop while trying to do that can result in us getting scored. Him getting his style to the players will be a challenge. I just hope we can get enough friendlies and microciclos going to work on these things.

Angel Mena won't be with the team much longer. I suspect Estrada will be a bench player and we'll be putting lots of attention on Kevin Rodriguez and maybe later give Jordy another chance, too.

Expect some turnover in players over the next year. I'm assuming we'll see some tweaks to the lineup for the next game - he needs to rotate and see who can step in. By the time the eliminatorias are back, we'll have a better shaped squad.

This system will take time to assimilate. As such, we're forced to be patient.

Hopefully the jitters were shaken off and the guys will come out smarter in the next match.

It wouldn't surprise me if this happened. I was at the game and posted my first thoughts on another thread which I will paste below

"Some amateur analysis from someone who has just attended their first international game since 2017. Ecuador have a team full of players with very impressive ball skills. It was a joy to watch some of the things they do with the ball. These skills don't seem to translate into a lot of clear cut chances for some reason. If they can start to generate more chances they could be a very good team indeed. Interesting to see if the new coach can take them to an extra level.
We didn't have the ball skills of the opposition but in this game we seemed to do more with what we had than Ecuador. No Var meant that Australia's first goal was allowed even though it was clearly offside on the replays. The 3rd goal also had some doubt but it was very close and after watching a couple of replays you would need the VAR technology to work it out. Linesman should have picked up the first one considering it was from a deadball situation but the 3rd goal I can't blame the linesman. In pre VAR days it would have been given the benefit of the doubt.

Overall happy with the win, it was an entertaining game where both sides played competitively with the final margin being a bit flattering to us. Looking forward to seeing the second game in Melbourne. I would expect to see some changes to the starting lineups to give a few others an opportunity."

With the first of our goals definitely offside, the second from a mistake (although very well finished) and the 3rd with some doubt and with lineup changes for both sides expected it wouldn't take much to reverse the result. Some of the previous posters here have seemed a bit negative to me. Having watched this game I think there is considerable scope for improvement for you guys. Your players are more skillful than ours, and its really a matter of getting used to the patterns of play your new coach requires and your team can be very good. He spent most of his time in the technical area yelling instructions which hints that he needs more time working with the players to get his ideas across. In contrast we played basically our first 11from the world cup and still have the same coaching staff. Our coach spent most of his time sitting on the bench.

Good luck in the next game and also good luck in coming international competitions.
