Can you imagine how much Claudio would blow up at the Nigerian FA? Bet those guys aren't getting business class seats all the way to Lagos. UGH
I wouldn't bet on that... the Nigerian FA is known to be pretty damn corrupt. As a sidebar many years ago I used to play bball with Samson Siasia who was a former national team head coach and literally one of the most humble & genuine nice humans I've ever met. He got a lifetime ban from FIFA for match fixing a couple of years ago which blew me out of the water.
Sources saying he is/wasn't injured. He planned the trip after the snub. Rashford got injured and will not be with England and Southgate chose not to call Flo in.
Where is the 29 Instagram link or twitter link? I hear about him all the time on here and on the Scuffed Podcast. Where might thou find his "scoops," however legit or dubious they may be?
Balogun is trending on my Twitter. I know a few of the guys spoke to him as well." #USMNT— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) March 23, 2023
Is US Soccer drugging the water? How could all of the top prized prospects go their way? If last generation passed us over (Rossi, Subotic, etc) this one is doing the opposite.
“I spoke to Flo on Monday, he obviously completed 90 minutes on Sunday, felt his right hamstring an injury that he’s had previously," "The doctor has confirmed that with our doctor. So you can only take what they’re saying to be accurate. I then spoke to Flo on the phone, asked him if everything was OK. We spoke about the injury first, but then asked if he’s OK. Yes, fine. No problems." “He didn’t give me any inkling that there was an issue or that he was thinking of doing anything in the future," "He said he is looking forward to the summer (U21 Euros) and all the rest of it so will obviously follow that up after camp. I’ll make sure that I go over (to France). I’ve been to France a couple of times now to watch the players and I’ll make a point of going over and meeting Flo. “You can’t twist someone’s arms to play for England. You know we can only make him feel as welcome as we can. We rate him highly. We’ve supported him when things weren’t great. We called him into the 21s when he was playing for Arsenal’s Under-23s because I knew what potential he had. “He had the loan move to Middlesbrough which was OK. He’s done excellent this season, he’s really going in the right direction if you think about the development that he’s on he’s going in the right direction and hopefully we can still be a part of that. He is is big player for us.” - England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/folarin-balogun-usmnt-england-arsenal-26545969 Personally I think he will just do the pragmatic thing. If the prospect of a realistic England career doesn't emerge before maybe 2024 or so, then I think he will switch. This probably bodes well for the USA, because Southgate is quite principled about this kind of thing. He won't call people up just to cap them, even when he could easily explain the cynicism away.
That's what you tell a coach when you don't want to be there. 29, Wes' friend said he wasn't injured. Rumors are he actually participated in camp yesterday.
Well, look when those happened. The look of soccer here and now compared to 10-15 years ago is night and day. Money, facilities, exposure, quality, etc. If all a person does is live on these boards to complain endlessly, and tries to prove how horrible all is here and there is no hope, and every thing and everyone involved with the game here isn‘t authentic or smart, it‘s easy to understand. If you actually understand the game, what‘s happening, don‘t have emotional axes to grind, aren‘t self loathing and desperate, and project that while hiding behind cowardly anonymity then it makes sense. We are legit, not a novelty basket case anymore. Well, except to certain genius here.
I could be wrong, but this “29” guy seems to me a blow hard who doesn’t know what the heck that he’s talking about.
Is he? Tomori got cap tied by them after a 30 minute appearance against Andorra in 2021 and has had 1 appearance since.
The general consensus seems to be that Tomori should have had more game time, not less. Do you not think he's deserved his call-ups?
I think he does deserve call ups, but Southgate doesn't seem to agree. I'm sure though that had he not been cap tied, the opportunity to have played for Canada in the last World Cup would have been fairly appealing.
Somehow I'm not very optimistic, all these looks like a self promotion tour. More destruction than anything serious. Neither I believe that he would be that critical piece, might be one season wonder. Would be so much excitement if David was eligible?
It‘s not done. That‘s for certain. It just looks like there is a chance now. David is the past and he never considered us. He wasn‘t lost. He knew what he wanted to do. That one I don‘t even think about because he was very clear about his intentions. I agree that there is way to much hype already. That‘s how this stuff works. Still, that performance in Ligue Une would be one hell of a one hit wonder. Possible, but he ain‘t no Pefok. There are real tools there that aren‘t going away. For us he brings a completely different option immediately, so no doubt he would help IMO. Makes us harder to predict and game plan for. Still, a lot of over the top stuff going on as usual. The way it is.
The United States is a big place. That’s a hell of a coincidence that he chooses to go on a vacation / self promotion tour exactly where and when the United States soccer team will be there. Not saying it couldn’t happen. But he has to be greatly considering it.
I don't mean that we have or ever had a chance on David, but rather that neither would be an irreplaceable critical piece.
