Wild thought, maybe CL knows that RottenFish means to sell the team following the ‘25 season? If that we’re the case, then CL might be right that we’ll be competitive in ‘26. OK, that’s a reach, but it does fit at least some of the facts. Go Quakesfans!!
I just posted on MLS threads, just like most serious fans of the league and the game, I think we are all sick of seeing Over 36’s coming to the MLS to collect their last big paycheck! If Messi does come , that would be cool for a while but after the initial novelty wears off, we are still left with watching a 36, 37 or 38-year-old superstar who probably doesn't even care about being here other than going to Miami Beach. After all these years of signing Over 35's, when exactly will the day come that MLS starts forking over Beckham or Messi money for a 24-year-old Kylian Mbappé? Just curious....
That remains to be seen. Messi will do well at first but after the travelling, complaining of playing on turf or in the hot summers and the more he ages, the initial lure and novelty will wear off.
that does seem like a stretch. more likely CL was trying to buy himself some time, hoping fans will buy into a year's long rebuilding-through-youth approach, which was always going to be a tough sell given how long we've had to wait to be competitive, already.
They would probably manage his minutes and where he plays. Beckham and Henry I don't think played in New England often.
Three games in Houston, Dallas or Orlando in Summer with 85% humidity will convince him he made a huge mistake.
