That's not a bad team although I agree the centerbacks are a potential issue. I also don't understand the Jorginho love still. Scamacca is the wildcard. Will we see the physically dominant striker with a lethal right foot? Or will we see the mentally fragile player who struggles with his left foot?

Scamacca is not a bad choice given he has some familiarity with the players he's up against.

.That's a pretty big gamble, this isn't a friendly match, we are in qualifying. This is not the time "to make a point".

I hope it works out but it's definitely not a risk I'd personally take.

It could be a star making moment for him if he comes in and scores a goal or two. He has never played a game in Europe and now he might be given the start Vs. England in his first match. It’s a lot of pressure but pressure makes diamonds.

On the other hand if he plays bad, Mancini is going to get eviscerated

Reports Mancini goes with a 4-3-3 with Barella, Jorginho and Veratti as mids. I don't like Jorginho and Veratti being two of the three midfielders as they are both slow and typically will not give you goals. Stature wise that is a weak midfield and Barella is the only one who can be a goal threat that has speed but he's on the smaller side as well. I hope we don't get bullied in the midfield. This lineup banks heavily on offensive contributions from Di Lo and Spina because we definitely don't have the type of forwards that will just make things happen if you get the ball up to them. Really missing Chiesa

Listening to a podcast right now and they all agreed that this is a good midfield if the year is 2020.

Odds makers have England at a slight favorite. I think we could get a good result here. We are England's bogey team in recent years

If he doesn't score, Mancini will just put Scamacca in eventually and the commentary will be about what Retegui did right and his potential to become something great. The media has really taken to this kid, probably due to comparisons with Bati.

We're going to see Spinazzola and Veratti working that left side with Pellegrini trying to feed this Retegui kid a lot.

Jorginho is going to sit deeper providing some cover for the defenders and then trying to hit wingers for breakouts. Barella in a typical box to box role.

Mancini is going for an early goal and lots of pressure here.

Spinazzola has been looking closer to his old self lately and is one of the only electric players we have likely starting. Hope he finds plenty of opportunities to make Englishmen look like statues

Dang it Southgate finally figured out he should start Grealish instead of choke master Sterling! I loved how England put so much confidence in Sterling and snubbed the much more talented Grealish. Twas to our advantage

I have to say that the CB pairing doesn't give me much confidence. Acerbi has been playing good but both he Toloi play in 3-man backlines. I don't know what to expect. Pellegrini is going to be a false winger, cutting inside while Spinazzola flanks him. I think that's going to be a nice combination.

Let's see what Retegui can do

I hope Retegui can deliver at least a decent performance, obviously he will rely on good service.

I see I am not alone in being concerned about the central defence. I think Gianluca Mancini has been the best central defender in Serie A this calendar year and should be starting instead.
