My friend in the black army said, San Jose allocated 12k tickets to traveling LAFC fans if they want them. Any unused go back to San Jose. They're also offering special parking etc for them. Apparently we're sucking the mighty LAFC penis and rolling out a red carpet for them.
Tell you what if you think actually having to be out there in the middle of s storm is easy try it. My cousins husband was a lineman for over 30yrs, during storm season she would go weeks without him being home. Fine to be "mad" at management, but those lineman put their life at risk every time they go out.
They don’t live in Wichita by any chance do they? Yeah and we are experiencing weather extremes that are making things difficult, whether it’s these massive winds and storms or fires (and yes I know that some of their aging equipment caused some of the fires). They have to try to make their infrastructure more robust and it’s going take time and a lot of money. And unfortunately the extremes may continue and get worse.
38-36. The Golden State Warriors won a nail-biter at the Dallas Mavericks. Next up: Chase Center hosts the Philadelphia 76ers on NBC Sports Bay Area HD on Friday. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
The workers who put their lives on the line are also being treated badly by PGE. I have every appreciation for them. I'd guess that most people feel that way too. Corporate PGE though -- seemingly prioritizing profits over infrastructure and service -- all the ire I hear (and express) is directed at them.
Yep, those linemen are heroes, they do a hell of a job. The power goes out in our area frequently when the weather gets bad so I have met many lineman over the years, and all were great. A couple months ago PG&E replaced the power pole that went to our property. They have a company that does the actual pole installation and they were incredible as well, very positive and uncomplaining, even though the weather was poor and it was the middle of the night.
I am a lineman for the county And I drive the main road Searchin' in the sun for another overload I hear you singin' in the wire I can hear you through the whine And the Wichita lineman is still on the line I know I need a small vacation But it don't look like rain And if it snows, that stretch down south won't ever stand the strain And I need you more than want you And I want you for all time And the Wichita lineman is still on the line And I need you more than want you And I want you for all time And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
I chatted with her too, she said up to 25K fans will be making the trip up North, most of them taking up my damn parking space!
Check out the kit on the soccer-player kid, from Amherst High School, circa 1975. Heavy rugby style fabric. I played a few years later (my high school was the next town over but a different league) and several of my teammates wore the same rugby-style kit with the contrasting collar color down to the laces, but my kit was even older and without the contrasting color at the laces. For you youngsters, in those days, you didn't keep your kit, it was handed back to the team and seemingly used for a decade or more, resulting in a mix-and-match of styles and slight color variations. And it was heavy when wet (but kept you warmer in the snow). #OTD in 1975, citing differences with owner Paul Snyder, Eddie Donovan steps down as General Manager of the Buffalo Braves. pic.twitter.com/8xU1yz4wn6— ThisDateInBuffaloSportsHistory (@BuffSportsHstry) March 21, 2023
There is a train station nearby the stadium you can take (real train, not light rail)... maybe it has a viable schedule? Edit... I just looked and it only runs M-F now :\ You can park in Mountain View and take light rail from there. Not sure it's any safer for your car though.
Pedal in on the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail, runs south to north right to the stadium. That's how I got to the stadium at that stadium opening game - Quakes vs. Seattle (1-0 Quakes victory on a Djalo goal!)
I don't know how you read derision for the employees who actually go out to do repair work out of what has been said. The management of the company has done everything in its power to skirt responsibility for its terrible decisions and the deadly consequences of those decisions. That's obviously not the fault of line technicians and nobody suggested it is. PG&E treats everyone as if they don't matter. They don't care about their customers, they sure as heck don't care about their employees. It's why the private sector shouldn't be allowed to control utilities. Profit incentives are in direct opposition to doing what utilities are supposed to, which is provide essentials for living. I know we have to compartmentalize under capitalism or else we'd never be able to do anything out of the crushing reality of its cost, but come on. Criticisms of companies like PG&E are almost always targeted at the people who run it, and not the employees they exploit. I can't believe this is something that needs to be explained. You're leaving out the decades of neglect and willful mismanagement of funds that led to those disasters. Don't give PG&E a pass. The major disasters they caused were easily preventable, they just didn't care to do it because they figured the cost (that is the death of human beings) was worth it.
Article re every state's best BBQ place, based on Yelp reviews. I can confirm Joe's is excellent if you make the trip to SKC. It's in Kansas, just over the state line. https://fox2now.com/news/missouri/the-top-barbecue-joint-in-every-state-according-to-yelp/
The quote I responded to began "PG&E is straight-up awful" That would seem to cover every individual who works for the company.
I think that is a purposeful skewing of what someone means when they invoke the name of a company. If I say Apple doesn't pay as much tax as is owed, I don't mean the kid at the genius bar is committing tax fraud by falsifying their W-4.
Yes, but sometimes we take out frustration with a company on the "leaf" workers, which is not really fair to them. After advertising all over the place about flu shots, Safeway told me they couldn't give me one because I have Kaiser. I expressed my frustration to the pharmacy worker, but soon realized obviously there's nothing she could do about it and it's not her decision.
Really? The next line "It was just last Tuesday that many people lost power and didn't get it back for 3-4 days." is a direct jab at the people who actually do the work.
