-An Article on 04 W Bamba
U-19 players train with the Dortmund pros
Speed and finesse: little hint for Bamba

In the absence of a few regular players and top performers, junior players are currently allowed to show up in BVB professional training. One of them: Samuel Bamba - even if he's not completely new.

The Dortmund training ground is currently not full. Twelve players are on international duty, including Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck, Marius Wolf, Jude Bellingham, Raphael Guerreiro, Sebastien Haller and the subsequently nominated Dutchman Donyell Malen. In addition, coach Edin Terzic is missing some professionals due to injury, including keeper Gregor Kobel, Karim Adeyemi, Julian Brandt, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Youssoufa Moukoko.

It's the time when talented players from the U19s and experienced third division players from the U23s can prove themselves. At the public training session on Tuesday, Samuel Bamba was one of the players on the field and was able to compete with the remaining professionals around Mats Hummels and Marco Reus. This is not new territory for the 19-year-old, who made his mark on BVB's trip to Asia last year and scored three goals in three games there.
Bamba is still missing two things

In view of the fact that Adeyemi and Bynoe-Gittens are currently missing, the fast winger fits well into the training squad, and he also brings speed, finesse and dribbling strength with him. The U19s from Paris St. Germain recently had to find out painfully how he can bring this together on the pitch. In the round of 16 of the Youth League, the homegrown player equalized after a solo down his right side and a successful hook in the middle, which only brought the young Dortmund team to a successful penalty shoot-out.

Professional trainer Edin Terzic will be familiar with Bamba's qualities, hardly any other Bundesliga coach knows his own offspring as well as the 40-year-old, who last season worked as technical director at the interface between youth and seniors. Terzic also knows for sure that Bamba, despite all his talent, still lacks the consistency that is so important to be able to retrieve it. The U-national player also often lacks the effectiveness to consistently convert his many dribbles and sprints into goals.

    Germany U19 coach
"Of course we're disappointed with the first half because we didn't live up to our potential," said Streichsbier. “The team showed what they can do in the second half. The boys have great character, but again we defended too indecisively. At the end there were still enough chances to put the game on par.”

feels like deja vu, last year our 03s also had Italy and Belgium and both years wasted chance to win the game and pedestrian elements screwed us over.

So in order for the u19 to have any chance to qualify, it basically needs 2/2 wins v Belgium & Slovenia plus Italy to drop points in both their other matches. If Italy get 6 points they will have the head to head advantage which I think is the what’s used instead of GD?

For the u17 probably just need to beat Finland, as 6 points should guarantee top 2 in group and almost certainly one of the 7 best 2nd places.

reality in U19 Elite Round, once you lose a match your done for. And even more so if you lose to your main rival in group. Relying on others rarely amounts to anything.

and yes 1st tie braker=head to head

I find none can really judge 03 and 04 age groups.

yes yes doomsday for losing to minnow Italy who we have a crap record vs in almost every level. There is no shame in going out to Italy even if its 2 back to back seasons.

I just wish they would increase U19 Euro to have more teams. What is this 8 team nonesense.

Surely it’s better for everyone, more kids in more countries get experience in an international tournament. Euro u17 - 16 team tournament. Euro u21 - 16 team tournament. Why is u19 only 8?

imagine 1/8 of the teams is Host Malta, LMAO. How is that beneficial to anyone? Its cool for Malta and all but your taking out better teams for irrelevant host NT. Year before was Slovakia and year prior Armenia, before Finland, and Georgia.....how are any of these teams supposed to be real challenges?? No top team has hosted U19 since 2016, 7 years ago.....

I suspect reason why they keep it only 8 is due to it being in July during preseason if you go 16 it might drag to August. So they want it to be shortest possible.

    UEFA seems stuck in
    -U17 Euro=May
    -U21 Euro=June
    -U19 Euro=July

    1 per month.

    Jamie Leweling on...
... the evening together with the senior team: It's nice that we had the opportunity to meet with the senior national team. It was nice to see the players you look up to and get to know them. The proximity is good. When you see who's been nominated for the A-Team - the players you know well and have played with a lot. Things can go fast in football: fast up and fast down.

... his situation in the U21s: It's nice to be here, to see the people again, to take part in training, to collect minutes of play, to talk and to spend time. I like that. I wasn't there in November. Now I get the chance to show myself here. i know what i can do The coaches know me and know what I can do. The next two games should be good and at the club I should get good grades and play good games. Then I hope that I'll be at the European Championships.

... the opponents Japan and Romania: They are two good opponents. We now have a lot of players on the A-Team or are injured. That means that we have to get used to it and coordinate well. We will try to implement what the coaching staff expects from us.

... his strengths: the one-on-one, my dribbling, my speed. My finishes aren't that bad and I can hold the ball well.

... his situation at Union Berlin: I'm in contact with the coach. I know what I need to do better and what I'm doing well. I always want to play. We're successful at the moment, the coach has the line-up in his head. I have to fight my way in and I'm on the right track. I'm happy that I'm getting more playing time now than in the first half of the season. Sheraldo Becker is having a good season and is a leading player. The game is tailored for him. As a young player you have to queue at the back.

    Jessic Ngankam on...
... the evening together with the senior team: It was cool to see the senior national team and eat together. Since I play against most of the players in the league, it was cool to exchange ideas with them. We were mixed at each table - four A-Team players and four of us. We ate, chatted. Proximity is good and cool. You can see how they behave. I also sat at the table with Nico Schlotterbeck, Emre Can and Mergim Berisha. That was cool and fun. We laughed, but also talked about more serious topics. The road to the A-Team is not as long as you might have thought at first. With good performance you can offer yourself.

... his strengths and weaknesses: I'm a robust, agile striker, a mixture of a double attack and a clear 9. I want to say I'm ice cold. (laughs) I can still improve my header game. But there are always little things that can be improved.

... the EM year: There is still a long way to go before the EM. Now we have two friendlies. We'll have to see how they turn out. We're in good spirits, it's fun. But before the European Championship I still have to fight a relegation battle with Hertha. That's what I want to focus on first.

... his goals in the measure: If things go well: playing time. That we go into the details further, that I work on myself in both the offensive and defensive areas. And there is an exchange with the other players about what other ideas they might have.

... the situation at Hertha BSC: After the system changeover, we played a lot of good games. We're starting out pretty aggressively. On good days we can hurt other teams. In the relegation battle we need aggressiveness. We have everything in our own hands and have to take it from game to game. I wasn't really surprised that I got a lot of playing time again. I know what I can do and what I can give a team when I'm fit. I thought I can help. I worked hard on myself and bit into it.

... the possible dream of the Premier League: you never know. But I have tasks here at the U21s and at Hertha. The most important thing is that I stay healthy. Of course you always want to play for big teams. And the Premier League is a great league.

I think U17 will qualify to U17 Euro but as for U17 WC, who knows if they would.

on topic of U19 Euro. I really don't get dfb how do you play Ullrich and Baur at Ws??? Imagine you have likes of Diehl and Kabadayi on bench but you play 1 out of position and 1 lesser player who still has good potential.

if Gudra was fit, HUGE miss. Him and Diehl could destroy Ds left and right. Diehl should have scored a hat trick as a sub too, lol.

reminds me last cycle at how Wolf was obsessed with playing Amyn just for playing 3rd Liga like Baur is now. That's not good reason to be 1st choice.

-An Article on Koln U19. Not mentioned here are 04 LB Finkgrafe (injured) and 04 CB Bakatukanda (has made bench a few times).

The youngsters can train and probably also play
A good Cologne tradition: Baumgart gives five boys the chance

"They all have potential," says Pawlak about the players, whom he characterizes as follows:
Luan Simnica (19): "He's a strong six with a good left foot, a very aggressive player who has already developed well in terms of presence and has also presented himself in our units."

Meiko Wäschenbach (18): "Meiko can play on the six or the eight, a very intelligent footballer who still lacks the toughness a bit. But he is very agile, very agile and definitely a player that we will see over the summer be keeping an eye out for."

Emin Kujovic (18): "He is the prototype of the classic six, very fast and agile despite his height of 1.93 meters, robust and always ready for a duel. He can still improve technically and playfully."

Tidiane Touré (18): "A very fast right-back who still needs to improve technically. But he's only been with us since the summer of 2022, came from Kiel. Physique and robustness are right, he's been to the pros several times and is doing his job very good."

Damion Downs (18): "He was injured for a long time, is now coming back and has earned his appointment to the professional squad in Dortmund. He shoots with both feet, is strong in the air and very agile despite his height of 1.92 meters. Damian has everything to assert oneself in the professional field."

With Justin Diehl (18, U19 DFB) and Jaka Cuber Potocnik (17, U19 Slovenia), two top talents are still on the road with their national teams, who would certainly be in the pros. So a good tradition continues with the people of Cologne. And Pawlak promises: "The years below are also well occupied."

-01 GK Reiss, 01 M/W Richter 02 CB Laux, 03 M Shabani, 03 RB Kraft (looks like didn't lose his 1st prospects after all!!!), 03 CF Schmidt, 04 W Gudra, 05 M Gleiber look like training with 1BL Mainz 1st team.

so now that's 04 W Bamba, 04 AM/W Paula, 04 W Gudra who instead of U19 Euro qualifers they are training with 1BL clubs.

-04 GK Feller signs pro contract with 2BL Heidenheim. Not only is he seen as one of better 04 GKs in Germany but him and 04 GK Weiss (has 2XI) from 2BL Karlsruher actually have prospects to breakthrough at those pro clubs.

Professional contract for FCH goalkeeper talent Frank Feller
Frank Feller from the HARTMANN youth performance center has signed a professional contract with 1. FC Heidenheim 1846. From the coming season, the 19-year-old will be an integral part of the FCH professionals. The national goalkeeper of the DFB youth receives a contract until the summer of 2025.

"Frank Feller is one of the top talents in Germany in his age group in the goalkeeper position. We are therefore pleased that he will be an integral part of our FCH professional team from the coming season and hope that he will take the next steps in his development there," explains Robert Strauss, FCH Head of Sport.

In July 2019, Frank Feller switched from the youth of the SGV Freiberg to the offspring of the red-blue-whites. After four years in the FCH U17 and U19, this summer he will join the FCH professionals, with whom he has been training for some time. In addition, the 1.83-metre-tall goalkeeper has already attended four training camps with Frank Schmidt's team. Most recently, the Leonberger native and his team ensured early relegation in the A-Junior Bundesliga South/Southwest. The 6th place meant the best placement in the history of the FCH club in this division.

Frank Feller is currently in Bremen with the German junior national team. With the DFB-U19, the strong goalkeeper is currently taking part in the UEFA U19 elite round. In total, the keeper comes to twelve games in the DFB U17, U18 and U19 team.

“Despite the fact that I have been training with the FCH professionals for a long time, it is not a matter of course that I have now signed my first professional contract. I can learn a lot from the experience in the team here at FCH and I would like to develop as best I can over the next two years,” said goalkeeper Frank Feller on signing his contract.

    I thought Gruda was injured?

I find it a bit strange how some players will go and play youth level friendlies with the DFB during one international break, but then at the next one choose to stay and train with the 1st team at their clubs when there are actual qualifiers taking place.

I mean I get there is more chance for youth to get upped to 1st team training while senior internationals are away with their countries, but isn’t it also good to help the youth NT qualify and get tournament experience?

I think Gudra is one of those not fit enough to play but fit only for training. Paula is only recently back from injury so was left out and Bamba was point blank left out.

not sure how you leave out a Bamba but they did. Even if he needs to work on his finishing, his speed/dribbling would have been useful.

even Kaygin got left out too but was only at a U19 Camp this month only.

I think its not intentional but more like dfb leaves them out.

dfb would rather play a LB in attack and Baur (just for playing 3rd Liga) over others and then are suprised by the L. Baur is talented but don't see him as a 04 XI but bench-extended option.

    Antonio Di Salvo on...
... the past few days: The last few days have been extremely intense, but good. We had quite a program. We were finally able to train on campus, we found top conditions here. We had many meetings to fine-tune the processes. I'm very satisfied.

... the prospects for the upcoming games: They are international matches and they are always valuable. Even if we don't have some players available, we look forward to these games. There are also good opponents waiting for us. It's about improving and pushing the team forward - including the players who are a little behind. Due to the many failures, everyone has the chance to show themselves.

... the opponents Japan and Romania: Not only at the World Cup did you see that Japan has well-trained players and that they are very disciplined, like to run and are very good on the ball. Japan gives us a completely different impulse from an opponent, it will be a good test at home. We faced Romania in the last two finals. Both were very difficult games. We know that Romania is a team that has to be cracked first. We are also happy to be able to play these games in a host country of the upcoming EURO.

... Rudi Völler: I met Rudi a few weeks ago and found him to be very open. He always brings fresh air into a room, the attention goes straight to Rudi when he speaks. He has many great stories to tell. He is very good for us at the DFB.

... the visit of the injured Jonathan Burkardt: Jonny is our captain. If the distances to Mainz are so short, it was right and important for him to come. He said it was really good for him to see each other again. It's still a long way back on the pitch, but he's doing better. We keep our fingers crossed that he will return quickly.

... the captain against Japan: Yannik Keitel will captain the team. He has played a lot of games for us and was part of the team in the last cycle.

... Kilian Fischer: I'm extremely happy with his development. I saw him take off in the 2nd Bundesliga about a year ago. After his first invitation, he integrated into the U21s really well. Then he went step by step. He was patient in Wolfsburg and worked on himself. He is a top professional and always ready to learn.

... Newcomer Henning Matriciani: Henning deserves the nomination, he has recently played a lot in the Bundesliga - both inside and outside. I got to know him here as a very likeable and self-confident young man. He should put pressure on the players in his position and still enjoy feeling out for the U21s. Things have gone very quickly for him lately. We will see if there will be a few minutes in this measure.

... Newcomer Jessic Ngankam: All the players who are here have the opportunity to be at the European Championship. That's why they're here. I'm glad I was finally able to invite Jessic over. He hurt himself the last time. He's a good center forward who can hurt opponents. I expect him to give impetus to the team and be a good competitor for the other forwards in the squad.

Nagelsmann was never an integration coach and reality your not going to find many coaches who will coach Bayern worried about the axe and have courage to play 0 experienced youth.

speaking of Wanner and Ibrahimovic both are out to covid for 2/2 Germany U18 matches. Buchmann due to schooling is out for 1/2 Germany U18 matches too.

at end of day its rare for Germany to beat Italy at any level whether YNT or Senior NT. Ds and Ls are most common result.

its why our 2005s born did something rare where they beat Italy twice in same season including a tourney in U17 Euro.
