For the second time in a month, behavior among Groningen supporters has temporarily suspended play at a match. I’d imagine they are looking at a significant punishment now pic.twitter.com/tfMvBKF41d— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) March 19, 2023
Finished 0-2, Pepi playing the full game. They really shouldn't let Dutch fans drink heavily so early in the morning.
Sadly, there is nothing else to do in Groningen; get on your tractor, chug some Baxbier and plow your way over to the Euroborg... Just another Sunday for the Tractor Boys.
Actually Groningen is a buzzing, vibrant university students city with alot of hot places to go to and entertain yourself. If iirc there are about 40,000 students there in the city.
My niece was invited by Harvard to do a year research on cancer there, after they got to know her via cancer research at the university of Amsterdam. That was right in the middle of the corona crisis in the USA and I was like:"Nooooo, please don't gooooo". Thankfully she came back sound and healthy.
More like St. Louis, really. Or maybe a much-less-cowboy Austin or Atlanta pre-hip-hop. Still very small (less than a quarter million) and by Dutch standards is the "sticks" - probably the furthest "big" city from Amsterdam, and for sure the furthest from Rotterdam. It has a pretty quaint center, but is still very farm-oriented and full of nasty drunks who hate themselves with good reason. lol!
Haha, you can't hide your (spouses) Frisian roots with feuds towards the Groningers going back to the 14hundreds.
https://www.ed.nl/psv/psv-heeft-ricardo-pepi-van-fc-groningen-op-de-korrel~a0bb49e1/ Translation: PSV is targeting Ricardo Pepi from FC Groningen PSV is already busy in the search for offensive options for next season. Several players are in the picture for the selection for the 2023-2024 season, in which the names of Milan van Ewijk (sc Heerenveen) and Ramiz Zerrouki (FC Twente) have already been mentioned
Yea, PSV probably has a long list of players its looking at but it will certainly be interesting to see where Ricardo Pepi is playing to begin the 2023/2024 season.
Well, how about that. The youngster, who punched at FC Groningen former Orange international Willems has his father being charged for threatening a FC Groningen steward and for damaging the cell block in which he was held.
What number is Augsburg willing to eat on that initial transfer? They will never get it back. Maybe make a PSV (or any interested party) deal very appealing for them up front but they keep some of the next sell on? This one could get ugly. Let‘s hope not for Pepi.
I don't really pay too much attention to Augsburg but they have not scored a lot of goals this season. I wonder if a year of good, feisty "living-away-from-home" soccer for Pepi combined with weak output from Augsburg means the give him a second look? Any Bavarians in the house have a POV?
Word is Augsburg want to bring him back next year. Word is that Pepi does not want to come back. Since Augsburg is never going to get most of their money back it makes all of the sense in the world to bring him back. …..but you see other teams interested because Pepi‘s agent has supposedly told them he does not want to come back. That‘s why the description of playing chicken is apt here. This can go many ways. FWIW….Augsburg play a physical, tight style. That‘s how they get their points. Creativity and flowing do not exist there. As a forward you are better off being a battler. It simply doesn‘t fit Pepi. I can see him going back and doing better than when he came, but it really is a very poor fit. I personally think that Pepi is right to try and move away for his career. Deep down I think FCA knows it also. He won‘t work there. It‘s just that huge initial fee. That‘s the barrier. How much can they recoup, and how willing are they to play chicken.
In last two seasons, PSV's top transfer in was €6M, per Transfermarkt. How much would they spend on Pepi? How much of a bath is Augsburg willing to take?
