The "power of infinity" is how he manages to get his hair like that. Yeah, I don't really know what that means, either.
Oh, please don't say that your father's name was Daniel. "Book 'em, Danno" would have a whole other meaning.
I was just remembering how control of the TV was such a thing. My dad would get physically enraged if the theme song to coronation street or eastenders started. Literally shouting get those whinging ********ing poms off! It was a huge imposition for us to be allowed to watch neighbours or the Simpsons before the News seems bizarre now …
That was my Dad with The Carol Burnett Show. It came on after the lcal news. My brother and I would watch the news on Channel 19 for no other reason that Carol Burnett came on . No idea why he hated that show. He also hated Howard Cosell, so we would be treated to F-bomb ladened tirades several times during Monday Night Football.
I'm with you on Steve Spurier and Jimmy Johnson, but DO NOT bring Miami Vice into "sucks" conversation. If you continue that line, I'm gonna ask you step out back were we can have a "conversation."
Then they ********ed. Your parents ********ed. She rode him like a cheap rented pony. Their sinews and limbs interlocked. He plunged into her damp orifice over and over and over again, until she climaxed as if she had seen God and Death and chose both of them. You were a mere 20 feet away while they FUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED.
Sounds familiar. Only I'm a bit younger. Plus, Miami Vice was on TV on a Friday. I did miss shows like such as Magnum P.I., Night Rider, Quantum Leap. And I think The A-Team was on a different channel. Man, that is some terrible TV by today's standards, but back then it was awesome. (And did anybody watch LA Law?) I remember Thursday night as well. There was Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Night Court, and Cheers. I don't know of a better lineup, relative to the era.
Saturday nights on CBS circa 1973: All in the Family MASH The Mary Tyler Moore Show Bob Newhart Show [frankly, the best of the bunch, in my opinion] Carol Burnett Show https://www.womansworld.com/posts/entertainment/cbs-schedule-all-in-the-family-141332
No disagreement. But then Dexter is on a totally different level. It's on the list of greatest TV shows ever, which Miami Vice will never be. There are a couple of things, though, which are really good legacies of Miami Vice - the visuals and the music (yes, I liked the music. Not saying the music great, and not trying to bring the Racism conversation here). Regarding the visuals, I think it did help that Michael Mann was an executive producer - he has a great sense of the visual.
Yeah, there's an age gap here- I was headed out to drink with friends after it went off I got to stay up to see the first half of Monday Night Football when it was Howard Cosell, Dandy Don Meredith and Frank Gifford. The second half ONLY if the Steelers were playing. I remember lying in bed one night and hearing the theme from Banacek. The lights were on in my room, so it wasn't past my bedtime. Might have been reading.
My mom would get like that with certain musicians. No profanity but you could feel the venom. She hated Joni Mitchell (Disliked her voice), same with Bob Dylan, but she loathed and I mean loathed the song Muskrat Love. So much so that when a folk version of it came on (The original by Willis Allan Ramsey, not Captain and Tenille) when I was helping with dinner, the first thing she said was, "I hate this song! I don't care how it's played!"
So i got kind of nostalgic for the early 80s and how family life was so structured around TV lol? The anchor of the night was the 6.30pm news which dad had to watch religiously - even while eating dinner. He'd get mad if we talked too loudly during that. WTF? But i don't think this was particularly unusual in my friends families either IIRC. Before the news would be a cheapo repeat run in show like MASH which he also loved. We only had two channels, so either you were in a family that watched prime time soap (e.g an Aussie soap) or you were watching MASH and the News. We weren't allowed to watch the pop culture stuff so i had to go to friends houses to understand what everyone was talking about. This stuff was mostly for women and young viewers. Looking over old listings prime time was mostly full of current affairs shows, and domestic productions of the day Nothing good screened until 9pm i.e. Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice etc The channel that carried Miami Vice only broadcast 10 hrs per day lol! I do remember that when the powers that be scheduled a primetime show or two that you hated then TV was dead to you that night for 6 months or so. I really hated some long running series like Macgyver, Murder she wrote, Simon & Simon etc so i was shit out of luck. it wasn't like you could go play your ZX spectrum either - because that used the TV as the monitor
And here comes the flip flop! Maybe claiming Trump is correct about everything was just too 9D chess In new interview, DeSantis changes message on Ukraine, calls Putin a ‘war criminal’ https://t.co/Z2p7vHgd9h— Miami Herald (@MiamiHerald) March 23, 2023
I used to shout that… and I’m a Pom. It just show though how the majority of tv watchers can get caught up in crap. HTF did Friends…..and repeats of Friends keep regurgitating.
The flip flop hurts him two ways. First, it’s just fundamentally a bad look to not have a coherent position on the world’s most pressing foreign policy issue. Second, he showed he’s weak. Trump would never back down because the establishment criticized him. He effing attacked John McCain in the grossest, most personal terms, and didn’t back down. That as much as anything established his fascist psychology bona fides.
