For the newbie fans who may not have experienced this history. The Edmondo Zura signing (2011). GM John Doyle reports to Quakes ownership .
Remember when these 2 were the face of MLS along with Josh Wolff, Clint Mathis and Damarcus Beasley? Too bad Carrieri blew ass.
We traded for this jackass a week after this goal and sent Lawrence Lozzano down south. Karapetyan went from a decent player with the galaxy, to below moo shit with us THEN we went and got him again in 2000.
These highlights bring back nightmares of David Kramer, the only Clash/Quakes player i have ever booed. .
Thats pretty bad... we've had some boo worthy fellas... Nick Garcia... Eduardo... Mike Burns... Dan Calichman... Mark Sherrod
I miss ol Pat Onstad. Good dude, great player for us, even better player for Houston Dynamo, not so good with DC United.
We always used to park on the grass behind the stadium and kick the ball around with the kids after games. More than one did we happen on DeRo and his family hanging out in their van. Nice people and great memories!!
Good catch! I thought the signature in the upper left hand corner was Craig Waibel, but it must be Wondo. Yeah, I was thinking, "Did they have this marketing campaign back then"? In any event, I'm hanging on the wall in my garage!
I am assuming there still a few people on here who traveled to Columbus for MLS Cup 2001, just wanted to get any recollections from anyone of things you remember, anything interesting happen while in Columbus etc. I booked for my sister and I , she got cold feet and was afraid to fly since it was so close to 9/11. Decent amount of Quakes fans I saw downtown and at the stadium but since i didn't know anyone I sat by myself in the upper deck which was a strange feeling. Anyway if anyone can share some memories of their trip to Columbus it would cool.
I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. What I remember at MLS Cup 2001 was blacktide yelling in my face "We won the cup! We won the cup!" when DeRo scored the golden goal. I'm not sure I remember who else was there, and I'm not sure who's on bigsoccer and wants to keep their real name out of things. Katilyn posted a video not too long ago of a San Jose fan jumping around - that guy's name is Dave and I don't think he's on BigSoccer but he was one of the old Club Quake / Casbah guys. I think I remember seeing ThreeApples in Columbus, but it may have been for a WCQ instead of MLS Cup.
