The 5 subs really help with this situation. I agree with you about the risk of reinjury. I think with 5 subs it lets you start a guy who you know can only go or even less. First half injury substitutions aren't the killer they were in the 3 sub era. I think if he's got something to offer that starting him might be the best way to do things.
And who are our 5 subs? Thank goodness Ramirez and Vallecilla are avail. If they were not weren't we might have to suffer through watching our latest homegrown CB make us ask why we signed him to an MLS deal. We might just see a slightly varied formation. Zawadski and/or Parente will likely get some PT. Is Medranda avail? Shoot who else has two working legs at this point?
Yeah, I hadn't really considered that we barely have 5 guys on the bench. But, between starting JRR or Ramirez, I say start Ramirez. You don't want to bring him on at 60 and take him off at 80 because he comes up gimpy. Start him and if you have to pull him off you have a fully fit guy who can come in. The rest of the lineup pretty much picks itself as there isn't anyone else to put in there.
Looks like we have 28 guys under contract. From that, subtract: Out due to int'l call ups Degenek Room Zelerayan Out due to injury Cucho Molino Williams That gets us down to 22, already. You can dress 20 players. Even without Room, we have three goalkeepers on the roster, so you assume one of those won't dress. That only leave one more player if we intend to have a full bench and no one else is hurt.
Me: So.. we knew about LZ, Degenek, and Room… now Cucho tweeted out that he will not be available. Markus: Who is Atlanta missing again? It might not be totally bad. Me: Well maybe Crew will not look great, but finally we get to go to LDC. Markus: It will be awesome.
Latest weather is temps are better than it was looking earlier in the week with mid to lower 50's at kick and upper 40's by end of game. There will be some gusty winds though clocking in over 20 mph.
Forget Alameda. They're going to jam The Greek Freak down our necks. It'll be his MLS coming out party, and a long night for a patched together, jury-rigged, undertalented defense.
Heard a rumor that the Nordecke is planning a massive Welcome Back Miguelol Tifo. Gonna be a special night. Can't believe LaMacchia is missing it.
Unless something has changed, Giakoumakis will be in Portugal for international duty. Or did Atlanta sign Giannis and I missed it?
sadly, most of our our biggest heroes could not be there for filming this upcoming episode, as it took place during awards season.
Fuson and Miccaletto are probably available as a callup. It looks like Arfsten is in the plans for this weekend.
When did that happen or is MLS roster broken still/again Noah Fuson, on what the club says is a short-term loan from Crew 2, makes the bench.— Bailey Johnson (@BaileyAJohnson_) March 4, 2023
Thanks for posting that from Bailey (who, once again, shows how much better she is at her job than her predecessor). Yeah, from that, it sounds like - yet again - the info on the MLS roster page is bullshit. So really, if my math is right, we only have 21 players on MLS contracts who are available to make the 20 man matchday roster on Saturday, and three of those are keepers. Unless, of course, there are other errors on the roster page.
Save the Date, Chris. April 15th (normally tax day..). Be there or be square. Of course, I jest. Saturday is a test run for us. A 'getting our feet wet' gameday. We are focusing on getting to Columbus, parking, and then trying to enjoy the experience with three kids. April 15th and this summer will be more of a chance to get into a groove with how we want to spend the day - starting at Geeg's house, stopping by some stops near the stadium, seeing old friends, etc.
Is it the northwest corner that has the benches down? My dad will be at the game (remained a season ticket holder '20, '21, '22 - hardcore y'all, has not been to LDC), and I am trying to be mindful of him.
The top 10-15 rows of sections 124, 125, and 126 are down. 125 is right below a big lower.com sign. The higher you go the more likely people are sitting through the game. In the first couple rows we stand during the game and sit before and and halftime.
