    Litchenstein and Luxembourg are the first 2 opponents for Euro 2024 Qualifying - really no excuse but to get 6 points here and lots of goals.

    The callups are as follows

    GK - Diogo Costa (FC Porto), José Sá (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Rui Patrício (AS Roma);

    Defenders - Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), João Cancelo (Manchester City), Danilo Pereira (PSG), Pepe (FC Porto), Rúben Dias (Manchester City), António Silva (SL Benfica), Gonçalo Inácio (Sporting CP), Diogo Leite (FC Union Berlin), Nuno Mendes (PSG), Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund);

    Midfielders - João Palhinha (Fulham FC), Rúben Neves (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), João Mário (SL Benfica), Matheus Nunes (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Otávio (FC Porto), Vitinha (PSG);

    Forwards - Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr), Gonçalo Ramos (SL Benfica), João Félix (Chelsea FC), Rafael Leão (AC Milan), Diogo Jota (Liverpool FC)

    No William, Horta or Andre Silva, and 6 center backs. Seems clear we're gonna go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. But disappointed we don't see Florentino or Pedro Gonçalves.

    No Pote ffs!!!! And play JP it's more often.

    I think with Romar we're going to see a different formation... 3-4-3, more on attack, as we should.

    • Costa
    • Dalot | Pepe | Silva
    • Cancelo| Mario | JP | Mendes
    • BF| Ramos| Felix
    - This is a competitive winning team.
    - JP over Neves. Keep Pepe in there.
    - Mario over Bernardo.
    - I don't like 3-5-2 for Portugal tbh.

    costa
    cancelo dais silva mendes
    jp
    felx b.silva

    rafa ramos leao

    i know rafa is not on the team, i dont care..... hes starting.

    drop ronaldo, he plays in Saudi Arabia.... bruno fernandes is a pussy hole... yes he's good sometimes.... but i cant stand that guy. truth is if we play our u21 squad we should beat these two teams. anything other then a convincing 3-0 win in both game will be a failure.

    I’m pretty disappointed Martinez picked Ronaldo.

    I was hoping he would start fresh.

    Hooefully he lets him play these first qualifiers, Ronaldo gets the send off he deserves then doesn’t select him again.

    Not enough changes for my liking. Mendes 2.0

    Ronaldo is going to be at the Euro Cup at the very least. You all know this. You guys sound like a broken record.

    How about we sit back and see what this coach can do . Not one game and we are already criticizing him ? Maybe he is selecting players that he feels fits his system for this team .

    System? What is his system? The Fernando Santos system? He chose the same crap players or maybe was told who to pick. How did they work out for us the last time? We might of just kept Santos if he will be doing the same thing.

    I don’t know how good or not this guy is . I honestly don’t know . All I’m saying is give him a chance . He at least is getting out there and watching players . I love Renato and what he can potentially bring to a game but fact is he has been injured a lot . We have not seen a game under his leadership yet

    This is Portugal we're talking about here. A team who loses to teams they should beat in deciding qualifying matches at home none the less. A team that should be finishing first in their group and never does and has to go to extra games to qualify. So yes I am going to be critical of what the new manager is doing no matter who we play.

    I for one am hopeful, from the words of the manager and captain we're gonna be more attacking, they're clearly taking shots at Santos's defensive tactics. Martinez has typically been really good at qualifying campaigns with Belgium, they never struggled to qualify.

    I've been a fan for long enough to know exactly what your talking about and for the most part i agree but leicheintine is not one of those teams, half their squad are firefighters..... but Ill be looking for are the trends we saw under santos. will JP be a starter? will ronaldo start? (he shouldn't and it will set the tone in regards to what Martinez is about) what position will bernardo play in? what is he going to do with leao/felix? that's whats going to be interesting. we could play our u21 squad with couple of girls from the women team and we should get a solid result.

    Looks like Martinez is going with a 5-3-2 Screenshot_20230323_144832_FotMob.jpg

    I dont hate the line up but wish he would put another CB in there instead of Pereira...

    Happy he picked Palhinha.

    but why the fark isn’t Antonio Silva playing instead of Pereira. Mendes needs to be in the starting lineup.

    Why is a player that plays in the crappy Saudi League starting. Disappointed in Martinez, he doesn’t have the balls. That was evident during the World Cup when he let the players take control of the narrative, same will happen with Ronaldo

    Don't understand how Martinez says we are going to be more attacking yet he plays 5 defenders. Makes no sense. Against Lichtenstein.

    Really in a 5-3-2 like this Cancelo and Geurreiro will not be really defending. So it not a really defensive approach.

    Yes I know ... but I was kind of hoping that he would try to get the offense from offensive players like Vitinha and Leao rather than it come from his fullbacks.
