I wish to Christ that the flaws/greed inherent in the US financial system would stop fukking things up for innocent people in the rest of the world.
I hear this term 'woke' thrown around all the time by the right. This person was asked to define it Celebrated US right wing hate monger Bethany Mandel is blabbering on about wokeness when the host asks her to define it. Enjoy… pic.twitter.com/JHsQbwtA13— Joe Brolly (@JoeBrolly1993) March 15, 2023
But look at all the books she has on her shelves. She must a an intellectual, a deep thinker. She obviously knows her stuff.
The end, where the interviewer suggests she can take her time...!!!!! So...I had to look it up...this is what I found:
The Mathew McConaughy flick ‘Interstellar’ addresses this when he trots of into space and comes back to visit his young daughter (well she was young when he left) and finds her in hospital dying of old age.
In 2008 Iceland put their bankers on trial and “jailed” a lot of them. In the US the bankers flew off in their G5s to their estates on Caribbean islands. To rest up before their next assault on our economy.
So just for fun I googled ‘Bank CEO homes in the Caribbean.’ Jesus christ on a skateboard!!! https://www.google.com/search?clien...n0KHTriAD4QBSgAegQIBxAB&biw=653&bih=914&dpr=2
Wow - that is incredible - and pathetic...and...I can't come up with the right word... But let's put it in perspective... I doubt many of them are making 300+ pounds a week...
All of those ideas are peculiarly linear, though .... which is a problem with ideas speculating amid the tricky duplication of matter!
For the uninitiated, the term 'woke' comes from Black American culture. It started as a reminder to Black people, in particular youth, to 'stay woke" to the systemic racism that gets Black people killed by cops or thrown in jail. It's been culturally appropriated by bigots on the right to denigrate anything that seeks to shine light on systemic racism or anti-LGBTQIA bigotry in the way that Critical Race Theory has been turned into a buzzword about teaching history appropriately in schools. There's an essay in my forthcoming book about this.
Trump Era Roll Back of Bank Regulations Resurfaces Amid SVB Collapse (newsweek.com) Under the new rules, such institutions no longer had to submit to "stress testing" by the Federal Reserve and were no longer required to keep a certain amount of cash on hand to protect against the effects of financial shocks, the newspaper reported. The Times noted in its report that the bill was championed by SVB CEO Greg Becker. Becker had pressed lawmakers in Congress to lessen regulation that placed higher scrutiny on certain banks, claiming that SVB had a "low risk profile of our activities and business model." By 2018, his bank had spent roughly $500,000 to lobby for the changes that Trump ultimately signed into law, according to The Lever, an investigative news outlet.
Looks like Sinema was taking from anyone who offered money. Regardless. Gallego Says Lobbyists 'Bought Sinema's Vote' That Resulted in Bank Collapse: "When bank lobbyists asked me to weaken bank regulations, I said no. When they asked Sen. Sinema, she asked how much—and voted yes," said the Democratic Arizona congressman, who is running for Sinema's Senate seat. https://www.commondreams.org/news/ruben-gallego-sinema

Lumpy says he’s going to be arrested and arraigned on Tuesday. Let’s assume so. Now Lumpy has called for “patriots” to rally and protest this arrest and arraignment. His call and his putative arrest and arraignment have preemptively been called out by the GOP establishment - McCarthy, Stefanik, MTG et al. - giving aid and succor to these perhaps “spontaneous” demonstrations. So the simple question, assuming arrest and arraignment: Any and all protests, demonstrations, rallies and gatherings before and during - and anything that occurs pursuant to the aforementioned - are Republican Party authorized, yes? And officially Republican Party policy?
musk is such a total POS..... https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-64989720 I had just finished my investigation into whether Twitter can protect users under Elon Musk's ownership, when - to my surprise - the man himself tweeted about it. "Sorry for turning Twitter from nurturing paradise into a place that has… trolls," he said in one tweet, posting a screengrab of the report. According to Twitter's own data, that tweet was seen by more than 30 million profiles. "Trolls are kinda fun," Mr Musk said in another reply, in his response to my BBC investigation - Twitter insiders: We can't protect users from trolling under Musk.
It was 60 years ago today!! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more… “Everybody knows I'm 100% innocent, including Bragg, but he doesn't care. He is just carrying out plans of the radical left lunatics. Our country is being destroyed, as they tell us to be peaceful!"
