Liverpool have just scored as many goals in 1 game as we have since the end of October. I'm starting to think the scoreboard at the bridge would malfunction if we would score twice in a game. It's in Binary at this point. Can you ever imagine a Potter team scoring 7 goals in one game? I just cannot see it, ever.
As recently as 1 week ago there was a percentage of Liverpool fans screaming for Klopps head! Even after all he's done there over the last few seasons. Most of them weren't quite so quick to throw him under the bus though.
The question was. . . Can you ever see a Potter team scoring 7 goals in a game? I mean nobody is throwing Potter under the bus . . . scapegoating and betrayal. So in your view Potter is in no way responsible for the current results? so who is? Graham Potter has made the worst start by any Chelsea manager in the last 30 years. We should pat him on the back for that?
I simply stated the fact that.......a week ago a minority percentage of Liverpool supporters were screaming for Klopps head, they had been beaten by 3 - 0 by Brighton, they had been beaten by 3- 0 by Wolves and they had been destroyed at home by Madrid and had shipped FIVE goals in that game. For 'some' it was enough to ask for him to be sacked, for 'others' however they thought that based on what he has done for the club recently he should be given a fair 'crack at the whip', that he had earn't the right to rebuild again. You could just as easily say that one thumping of Manchester United is not enough, I think though we will probably find that the trajectory of the team will likely be an upwards one, even if its a slow ascent to begin with. I posted this here on the 'Other teams thread', I didn't refer to Potter at all, I wasn't intentionally comparing, Klopp has been at Liverpool for quite a while now. Potter has only been with us for 1/2 a season.
You were replying to my post in which I asked. . . Could you ever imagine a Potter team scoring seven goals. Question: Can you see a Potter team scoring seven goals in one game? Did you know Graham Potter's Brighton went three months without scoring at the Amex between January and April 2022? Three months without a single goal. AND that was when Potter was at his "peak". Considered by Brighton fans to be his Best match ever was: Brighton 4-0 Manchester United, Saturday 7th May 2022.
Back to fifth. With Tottenham being Tottenham and Newcastle seemingly fading, they could actually salvage a top 4 finish. At this point, I’d expect them to.
Klopp had built an exciting League winning side in Germany, against the Bayern odds, before he came here and built against the odds a League winning side. Pep won everything in two countries with dominant high scoring teams before he built City fully. You could always see the vision and way they liked to play in Pep and in Klopp. Even with Arteta you could see what he was working at and towards even if his defense was undisciplined and shite at first. Potter before he came admirably built a frustrating hard to beat low-scoring possession based team that frustrated mid and upper-tier teams and nicked the odd goal to win a third of its matches, draw a third and lose a third. That was his vision and now it appears it is his vision and 36% win brick ceiling. There are no clues or signs he has or wants a different vision and in the two longer periods he has had to work with the team, they only got worse and scored less. Whereas DeZerbi took Potter's same players, improved the players, has scored 15 goals in 2023 and wins 50% of his matches. I was excited with the Potter hire, I was very wrong, he is out of his depth and more time will only help dig us deeper into a bottomless pit.
Well as it's something that is as rare as hen's teeth, then perhaps not..............but there again how do we know? I don't think Mourinho's Chelsea ever put 7 past anybody, in all the Premier league games he took charge of his biggest win was a 5-1 defeat of Bolton, he also had one 4-0 win against Blackburn, no sixes, no sevens and yet it doesn't seem to have dented his reputation at Stamford Bridge much.
As we all have known for years Barcelona are cheating scum. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64918604 Barcelona have been charged with corruption over payments the club made to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, a former vice-president of Spain's referees' committee. Barcelona have been buying the referees. Who knew?
Barca paid Negreira and a company he owns a reported total of 8.4m euros (£7.4m) between 2001 and 2018. Barcelona coach Xavi, who won eight La Liga titles with them as a player between 1998 and 2015, said he had no knowledge of the payments and never had the feeling his team had any advantage. Barcelona are now the Lance Armstrong of football. They need to be stripped of their titles during that period of total corruption. Everything they won during that time is null and void.
Conte going down swinging here. "They're used to it here. Don't play for something important. They don't want to play under pressure. They don't want to play under stress. Tottenham's story is this. 20 years there is the owner & they never won something. Why?"— Dan Kilpatrick (@Dan_KP) March 18, 2023
Definitely. Not like he doesn’t have a point, either. Thing is Spurs have been done a long time. I think they held onto Pochettino for too long. Jose and Conte came way too late for them.
He’s obviously daring them to fire him…but then he gets paid, right? If I were Levy and wanted to be a real d!ck, I’d make him quit if he wants out. Conte may be right, but he also never takes any responsibility. He’s faultless in these results? They deserve each other.
Fun Fact de jour: Matt Law @Matt_Law_DT · 1h Over the past 20 years, Levy has hired 10 permanent coaches, who, between them, have won 61 trophies before and after managing Spurs. Between them all in that time, they have won one trophy at Tottenham…#thfc
