Also, if Lower.com Field is the Death Star, are we the baddies? As for the match, both teams will be missing players for international duty. The Crew will be without Zelarayan, Degenek, and Room. We also have a few injuries to sort out. That being said, Atlanta has a good number of players out for international duty: Thiago Almada Miles Robinson Giorgos Giakoumakis Derrick Etienne Jr. Luis Abram Ronald Hernandez Machop Chol Not having Almada and Robinson hurts. Giakoumakis, their new DP striker, just started his first match of the season and bagged a goal, but they'll have to rely on Miguel Berry up top. Etienne has added a couple assists to his name while soaking up minutes as a sub. Abram has been the first CB off the bench (mostly garbage time), so their depth there will be tested there. On the Crew side, I'm comfortable with Schulte getting the start in the net. I'm less confident about the backline (Where have you gone, Josh Williams? Crew nation turns its lonely eyes to you.). And, obviously, we can't just replace Lucas. Anywho, Nancy's March to the Olentangy, crush these scrubs, goal the ball, win-yay-yay-yay, etc... Discuss.
Lose by 2. I'd be happy with a Grouchy Point and I suppose I'd be happy with a one-goal loss, considering what I've read.
Me: If the weather is going to be yucky, then do we want to wait until the April 15th game? Markus: No. (Thankfully, the weather forecast for Saturday keeps perking up in the afternoon/night…)
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Good thing we have Ramirez oh wait Bez and his roster are always … nvm Only good thing is Atlanta is missing a lot of ppl. Start JRR and let’s steal 3 points at home lol
Thankfully we have a veteran presence like Kevin Molino to pick up the slack and hopefully punch in a few goals....
I'm sorta bummed about Etienne missing out. Viewing a player returning to his former club, scoring, and not celebrating while his teammates mob him, is football's Bittersweet Symphony.
Just saw from Murphy that Ramirez is back and Vallecilla will start on Saturday. So I'd assume something like this: JRR Yeboah - Matan Sands - Morris - Nagbe - Farsi Quinton - Vallecilla - Moriera Schulte EDIT: Or maybe Ramirez starts? Christian Ramirez played 45 minutes with Crew 2 over the weekend. They expect that he can play at least 45 minutes for #Crew96 this weekend. Wilfried Nancy isn't sure yet if he'll start or come off the bench— Bailey Johnson (@BaileyAJohnson_) March 22, 2023
I’ve never been one to complain about MLS playing matches without national team guys. But man… part of me wonders if I should even watch this game.
I think I'd rather see Ramirez start. I'm always worried about bringing a player on as a sub who could reinjure themselves and then requiring another sub. I'm guessing the medical staff has an idea of how likely a reinjury is, but then again our medical staff doesn't have the greatest track record.
Well, with a home crowd, we might get lucky. Also, the weather may level things out a bit. It should be rather wet.
4 starters from last year? That’s not a competitive team. Though I suppose we weren’t much better last year. A draw would suffice.
