Never in my life has there been a more annoying band than the Ramones. And it doesn't surprise me that a fair number of punk musicians are right wing. But when your ideology is anti-establishment, that line can get blurred easily Either way, there's musicians out there with attempted murder, murder, pedophilia, violence against family, and so much more. Lot of talented ones and untalented ones.
Different strokes. I find jazz horn noodling, with a dude in a beret playing upright bass & a guy on drums as boring as Lawrence Welk or English period dramas on PBS.
I'm just going to eat my popcorn while the great "I hate your music" argument goes on. Unless someone wants to hate on my personal favorite genre, comedy music written for fast food commercials of the early 2000's. Don't go there because if you do, we're throwing down.
So if you only like the bareheaded ones, that eliminates Devo? Or is it berets specifically that disqualify? And if a guy on drums is out, that kinda limits you to Velvet Underground, Prince, the Bangles, and the White Stripes? Oh yeah, the Go-gos and Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women...
He's not noodling. The fact that YOU can't comprehend what he's doing doesn't make it noodling. You've got the whole genre in the wrong generalization group. You're thinking of stupid shit like Wolfman Jack-sounding mofos who wear shades when it ain't bright and fedoras when they ain't gangsters. And that stupid Cab Calloway garbage. I know the genre had to go thru ragtime and blues and swing and other bullshit to finally get to bop, but once you get there, you don't need the beret. That's not what this is. Think instead of that horn player being a combo of Denzel, President Obama and Skip Gates, none smiling. The Welk Orchestra could play. Bruh, show us on the doll where that music, art or literature teacher hurt you. You consistently avoid anything that challenges your mind. I'm trying to wrap my brain around your even liking soccer enough to have found your way here. Seriously, what's up w/you?
I swear I don't know how Nathan East plays with that waste of a cumshot. I really don't. He would have made plenty of money playing with a lesser known but better smooth-ish guitarist, like Lee Ritenour or Larry Carlton or Earl Klugh or even the non-jazz George Benson. Clapton's only appeal is that he's more famous than all of them, and probably commands more money. So basically Nathan is nothing more now than a sideman for an aging rocker. Post-Cream, he has Promises. That's about it for me.
I don't mean jingles. I mean some of America's greatest music. and the kings themselves, Meaty Cheesy Boys, here at the at the 1999 Billboard Awards making fun of boy bands right to their faces. Do you know how many years of searching it took me to find all three full-length songs from their promotional CD? And there's so many more. Flat buns. Shroom and Swiss. Frosty Posse. Spongebob Got Back. That's about it, actually.
Look: I'm just going to need you to chill the fvck out about the Ramones. I've had a shitty day. I don't have the energy to get into this. The Ramones were a lot of things, but annoying was not one of them. If you were annoyed by them, that's on you.
Just cause I don't kowtow to the prevailing widom of the Jazzerati here on P&CE, that shouldn't upset you any more than you ridiculing who can "play" and who can't upsets me. I find it amoozing, TBH.
Wheva. The schtick doesn't do you any good. Nobody is this uncultured. You farted out loud in school and laughed. I just know it. Probably undergrad school, lol
You don't get it. I call it noodling because I don't give an F about it so there's nothing for me to "get" Just like I don't care about Russian folk music, a dude playing a didgeridoo in the Outback or how bitcoin works. If everyone had to be a "genius" to play music we'd basically have classical, Charlie Parker & Miles Davis (so I've been told), and of course - Queen.
Oh no we can't. They're geniuses who can play so they must be on the list. So we're keeping Queen eh?
