Lionel Scaloni on Retegui: “We have very good players in his position. Right now, we were not convinced to summon him. I hope he does well in Italy.“ pic.twitter.com/HCldc3xaYq— All About Argentina 🛎🇦🇷 (@AlbicelesteTalk) March 21, 2023
i'm hoping Juve move for either Gigio or Vicario. I don't mind Szczesny... but either of the two would be an upgrade that we sorely need.
He looks well built but yeah the height difference is there, but really,if you study his game it's quite reminiscient of Toni. Either way though like you said he's going to be at the big dance next year and it'll only help the talent pool
We are beyond desperate when we are hoping for Serie B strikers with 10 goals to pan out for gli Azzurri. I agree we are stacked at midfield and winger. We are also solid on D and have good goal keeping. But, that striker problem is a big one. If we don't solve that soon, we will struggle to unlock teams that sit back on us.
Mancini is killing this team anyway so there's little hope. He's exposing himself as the biggest a$$clown known to man. He's so far beyond Lippi version 2.0 and Ventura at this point, I'm literally predicting we'll finish third behind England & Ukraine/North Macedonia. He's moaning there are no options when he ignores literally dozens of options under his nose. There is no excuse to bring in Emerson at this point. The talent pool in Italy is way deeper than Mancini wants us to believe. Italy strikers have never set the international game on fire. Just need hold up play, intelligent runs across the center backs, work rate and passion. There's no shame looking to Serie B for the future. At least 50% of Serie A teams barely field 3 Italians on any given starting lineup, Serie B is starting to get saturated with budding talent which never really used to be the case when bottom half table teams still played several Italians per game. Ambrosino getting good minutes at Cittadella also.
Also for the first time in a long time I like Juve's strategy...Allegri kills that team. Pirlo needs to return.
Finally, that 2021 EURO team was THAT good. 1982 & 2006 level good. Destined. Refused to lose, refused to give up, refused to lay down. Legendary. They deserve to go down in history as great.
Mancini is doing what is necessary, like he said every national team has neutralized players now.Clubs like Udinese, Torino, Spezia, Maldini's Milan are not helping. You must find other alternative methods. Italy will look more like a club team now, get used to it people. The 80s and 90s are not coming back
He could do more, and scout Serie B players like Azzurrifan87 mentioned. There's bound to be some solid talent there that's being repressed because of Serie A's antics. Mancini needs good scouting in Serie B and do like Scaloni does and call up the most promising scouting players and work form there. Obiviously he can't do that now in the short term, but for the WCQ's this is something he can do. If Azzurrifan87 is correct in saying there's some solid talent in Serie B.
Italy won world cups with oriundi on the team 3x. 1 Euro too. History repeats. I don't see a huge problem with the exception of young talent getting a fair shake.
Yeah it’s good I guess. The FIGC should setup coverciano South America HQ. A permanent base that poaches talents from Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. Talents that aren’t good enough for their home countries but are great for Italy. This is a road map for success and it’s not embarrassing at all. But then why stop at South America? Coverciano Nigeria is also a great idea. Maybe we can’t poach Osimhen, but maybe there’s an Osimhen junior hiding somewhere in the slums of Lagos
His father said that Udinese have already made contacts. The papers report that both Milan teams want him as well as “other European clubs”.
I think Totti's agency scouted him for a while. Playing in Argentina doesn't mean he will make it in Italy or Europe but many talented players come from there so he may know more than any of us in regards to how he plays or will play.
Too many things being said in Italy right now. There are people that are excited calling him "the next Vieri". Others think that if he was as good as Mancini thinks, he would have already been on a team in Europe. Let's see what the field says
Italy need to dip into the African market. Maybe in the slums as you saay or maybe a child soldier needs guidance.
You've said this before. Are you African and want to be Italian? Italy's immigration policy is not France's and that's a good thing. It's one thing calling up an oriundi with familial ties to Italy and signing an athlete just to sign an athlete. The latter won't happen. Go cheer for France.
This is a probable lineup for tomorrow according to Di Marzio. I don't know how reliable it is. But interesting if true. It looks like Mancini is going back to 4-3-3 with Pellegrini as a false winger. He did this vs. Germany in the nations league to some success.
