You are correct Looks like it’s #LAFC not the #LAGalaxy in pursuit of Leeds attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz. Polish international is currently on loan at Ibiza. https://t.co/G1OARvFgNo— Mike Gray (@MikeGrayAFC) March 20, 2023
Except in this case, looking at the Galaxy's needs at winger, another midfielder is pretty low on the priority list. This is especially true for a player who is likely to be a young DP or U22 initiative signing.
Unless Bogusz is a speedy winger or forward who can get behind defenses and is a good finisher, I'm not terribly disappointed.
The #LAGalaxy have acquired a 2023 international roster slot from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for General Allocation Money.📰 https://t.co/N9dVMgqUy5 pic.twitter.com/Bmlh2mMq0T— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) March 21, 2023 I assume this is for Aude
The price of an international roster spot has really increased over the years. For the longest time a spot could be purchased for $50k. The Galaxy paid $150k in GAM for this spot per the announcement. I wonder if the Galaxy will sell Efrain as he has now become relatively expensive relative to his production (unless his homegrown status reduces his cost).
We actually got a bargain. NYCFC paid $325K in GAM for two spots from Nashville in November, Orlando City paid $200K in GAM to Portland for one international spot in January, and Columbus paid $190K in GAM to Sporting KC for one international spot in January. https://www.nycfc.com/news/new-york...s-international-roster-spots-from-nashville-s https://www.orlandocitysc.com/news/...national-roster-spot-from-portland-timbers-fc https://www.sportingkc.com/news/spo...neral-allocation-money-in-trade-with-columbus
That's a good question. It would make business sense to sell him to an LMX club, especially in light of the news that (according to the press release), Efra is a TAM player now; becoming roster compliant meant that "midfielder Efraín Álvarez will be shifted from an MLS U22 Initiative roster spot to a Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) roster spot."
I think we’ll push it through, but I miss the confident days when we’d sign Keane on Tuesday and have him all set to play on a Saturday (simultaneously offloading JPA to Chicas). While the Quakes spent weeks trying to get their international DP cleared and moaning he wasn’t available for the Classico. Our front office certainly knew the inner workings of INS to move quickly back in the day.
I ask again (to make this relevant for the roster rumors/signing etc thread): Who is our third GK (who will back up Klinsmann while Bond is out)? Vanney said Bond has a jammed right shoulder. rough estimate is 2-4 weeks. #LAGalaxy— Damian Calhoun (@DamianCalhoun) March 23, 2023 My guess is that if the trialist Tasouris wasn't signed then either Simon Jillson or Aaron Cervantes will be called up from G2 under the Affiliate Short-Term Agreements rule or under the Extreme Hardship rules (which apply when you have fewer than two GKs available).
A more complete injury report INJURY UPDATES:Chicharito: Working through "Return to Play." Still has a week to get through that.Costa: Back to training next week. Expected to integrate back into the squad over the next 7 days. Bond: Jammed Left Shoulder. 2-4 weeks.#LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) March 23, 2023
The #LAGalaxy sign goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes to short-term loan from @LAGalaxyII.📰 https://t.co/TOL7P9S1tS pic.twitter.com/qtRlU80gop— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) March 24, 2023 There is the answer about the third GK, for now at least.
I think that’s a 4 day loan and he can only be brought up that way 4 times, but it’s a good way to save salary budget by having two senior roster GKs since we have 3 GKs with the G2s.
The Galaxy doesn’t learn. Players do as they please. Zero care we are about to be 5 games into the season, and we got a head coach in Vanney downplaying it all cause a lot of it is his doing… https://t.co/vv2g0ndena— Jorge (@Jayundftd7) March 29, 2023 Smells like buyout and call me crazy but the player the galaxy is probably looking to replace him will probably be isco. https://t.co/PURbXRiOib— G’s Central (@GsCentral3) March 29, 2023 Just in case you’re trying to put some puzzle pieces together. Lots of conflicting reports. But also a lot of reports for a player who should already have his kind made up.This sets up a buy-out option for the Galaxy IF they want to move him. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/Lb4eZmL2o7— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) March 29, 2023 seems like some smoke around a possible Costa buy out this morning. Would be the admission of a colossal ******** up if it happens. But who’s ******** up? Klein? Kirovski? Vanney?
I should say that I'm 100% in favor of dumping Costa. However, I can't imagine who is available to replace him as a DP before the end of April closing of the transfer window. What quality player, that would join us, is available and unwanted or uncontracted by a club at the end of March? Can't be a big list. Isco seems the main name out there but there was an article about him in the Athletic last week that made him out to be lazy, an attitude problem and a player best in a spot we don't even need help in (puig's spot). Isco’s fall from glory: The ex-Real Madrid star without a club at 30 - The Athletic Our team is aimless.
It's frustrating, although maybe possibly theoretically acceptable, for fans not to know the answer to this. All they owe is are wins, a fun environment, good benefits, and....well, they're not providing those. But we don't technically need to know who signs players. I'm worried that the Galaxy itself doesn't know who is in charge of this.
An open roster spot would be more productive than Costa. And if our new Asst GM (GM?) is involved in filling that roster spot then even better.
Honestly, seems like a classic post-Keane Galaxy DP signing. We have been so reckless with most of our DPs since Keane. Even Zlatan was a huge gamble coming back from injury and he’s arguably the most successful signing of since Keane. Buying out two DP contracts in 5 years is an incitement at every level from Kirovski up to Beckerman.
Does the Galaxy hold the record for most DP's bought out of a contract? It's the right move, hoping that there is someone we have in mind to replace him. As @mbar said, I'm not sure Isco helps our team.
Costa can leave. No to Isco. It would say more if we kept the spot open until winter in hopes of finding a piece that fits then to add in a name to sell tickets. We all saw this coming with Costa. Awful decision making by an awful FO who proves time and time again that they’re playing Football Manager or FIFA 23 career mode (badly I might add) instead of trying to run a real supporter focused club.
