Marco doesn't get minutes in 2 games so he and his agent go on a media rampage to blackmail the club.

The hell with him, we don't need mindsets like on the team, I hope he isn't renewed.

I can't wait for him to talk sh!t about the club, Perez, Carlo and Zidane once he's out.

Mendes is trying to shop the guy around. I think he chose the wrong agent if his intention was to stay at the club.

While that might be true, Marco himself isn't a stranger to brainfart interviews or recurrent attitude issues, he just has a longer leash at the club vs players like Rodrygo or Tchouameni.

    Good player...could have been great.
    Nothing against him...just isn't elite.

    Right now..we need elite.

Amazing transfer. I never fully bought into the hype but still thought he'd turn out much better. Decisive in big matches, some great supersub performances. Only like 5M too.

You're not going to get elite at the kind of money he's on. When it comes to cost/value he's been an absolute home run.

Good point. I’m saying time to invest in elite level for our attack….for elite level money if that’s what it takes.

He's a Pedro level player tbh, if he moves on, the only time you'll hear about him is when he mentions the club

Continuation to this. He's only 27 but he's not going to get better and I wouldn't be surprised if he declined rapidly. He doesn't have the workrate off or on the pitch, if he did he'd fulfill more of his talent.
For 6M for a player that will player rarely, I'd rather give minutes to Rodrygo to see where he goes or to some of the kids.

But on the other head he does score goals and is 2nd or 3rd top scorer for RM in recent years.
And we do need some Spaniards in the squad. We basically only have Asensio, Carva, Nacho and Ceballos and none of their future is really safe.
So it's unrealistic and probably rule breaking to get rid off too many.

He is a good squad player on a team that has lacked scoring prowess through some periods. I’d keep him

but if he wants a bigger role than he has to go. He is simply not good enough to get more than what he is getting

He is a squad player, what did he think his status is.

He's never been a starter for any fixed or extended period of time, he doesn't even come on as a substitute in many games. It's been this way since day one.

Maybe if he had actually improved as a player over the last 5-6 years it would justify a significant pay increase but as is he's lucky the club is even offering a renewal

I don't read too much into it. It is the job of a sport agent to talk big during a negotiation. They all ask for a salary increase even though he and his client understand the reality of the situation. Perez will eat his agent for breakfast liked he did with Ramos' brother.

Yep, and as much as I hate to say it, at this point he should be getting minutes on the right wing over Valverde, considering recent form.

I was never a fan of Asensio but it hurt even me that his moment was taken away from him by the slightest of margins. He was genuinely proud at that moment, would have crowned a good game from him. And it would have been a wonderful way to commit to the club and win himself an extension after a solid season (obviously without a pay rise).

Asensio is the worst - a player who thinks he’s really special and much better than he really is. He couldn’t be arsed most of the time he was here when it came to tracking back and was the quintessential flat track bully who could score a hat trick against Mallorca, but shrink in the big moments as a starter in all of those games Zidane game him. The hype got to his head early on and he really thought he was good as CR7, and was never able to recover. He’s happy to coast here at Madrid and be part of the glamour associated with the club as a rotation player and complain if he doesn’t play - than be a starter at smaller club.

Good riddance if you ask me - let’s give his spot to someone who can possibly develop.

Ironically, Madrid needs more players who perform well against the Mallorca's of La Liga.

Well he botched the penalty against them that caused us to drop 3 points this season.

Brahim should return next season so I don't think Asensio will renew his contract. I am not sure if Brahim will be a valuable player on the team. he will end up in Asensio's situation, but it is worth a gamble given that the situation on the team is not good. Asensio's career here is unlikely to improve while Brahim can at least offer some room for a hope.

The guy who replaces him might actually be worse. For all the praise Rodrygo has received it's hard to say that he's done better than Asensio.

What we have with Asensio is a player who didn't become a star, but considering cost and end product, has been an absolute success for the club.
