At around 9:30pm on Sat night, I was able to find the SJ vs St Louis game and watched like 5 minutes. Then all out of a sudden it stopped and from then on it was "Video not available." I think it was a live broadcast and it allowed you to watch from the beginning. However, the live broadcast probably ended around 9:30pm so I was cut off.
Right now the little bugs and inconveniences are an annoyance but I expect those will get fixed. Big picture, it's still a big win IMO - we have access to all this content - any game in the league at any time all in one place, good picture quality, pregame content, etc.
I don't care much around all the extra stuff Apple is doing... I just want to view games with as good of in game coverage we can get: great camera angles, crystal clear picture (how are these not in 4K at this point), announcers, etc. IMO ESPN+ is better than Apple so far.
ESPN+ was lousy though in terms of breadth of coverage - blacked out games, unavailable games, etc. Apple is every game available any time (except for when those links disappear :-( ). I may be getting mixed up between ESPN+, hulu, and youtubeTV because I used them all, but sometimes it was also hard just to find the games. The search function in Apple works as it should - fuzzy match, etc., all the things you'd expect on a modern site. There's no problem finding any game.
I never had a problem finding games on ESPN+, but I generally don't go back after watching and almost always watch live. I'd really like more camera angles... how the hell is there no goal line cameras? Put a small camera at the base of each corner flag and/or embedded each goal post (inner and outer). It's all probably due to FIFA, but screw FIFA.
I often don't watch live due to some other commitment or just wanting to have the ability to fast forward thru stuff.
i really miss having 1-2 MLS games to watch on Sunday. I really don't like apple's vomitous approach to soccer broadcasting.
How about if you watch a couple of Saturday night’s games on Sunday, if you can manage to not see the score first . But otherwise what’s the difference?
Well fellas, now that all the games are no longer free on Apple TV I probably won't be watching much Earthquakes. I'm sticking to my pledge not to be a STH under the current ownership regime, and the subscription is a terrible value compared to my other streaming services that I already pay for. Cowell is going to start bangin' them in any week now, but I guess I'll miss it. It's ok, I probably watch too much soccer anyways!
The inflation to watch MLS hasn't gone up all that much since 2005... It was 69 bucks back then. So I see no reason for the complaints at the cost for AppleMLS.
Ah, but you didn’t get to see every game live, didn’t get to see ANY game on demand later and didn’t get to watch ALL other MLS games. Oh yeah, no Quakes ii games or academy games on Comcast either. There is some value to Season Pass.
Ah, but I attend all home games in person, some road games in person, and I cannot recall an instance when I wanted to watch a Quakes game (for free) on Comcast that I could not watch it live. I don't watch sports events "on demand later." I never learned to use a DVR. When a game ends, I can read the news reports, get the box score, and watch highlights on Youtube. I don't care to watch "ALL other MLS games." I used to watch whatever Sunday games were on ESPN and FSI, but now, under Apple's new world order, as @mjlee22 has observed, that option is no longer available. So I will be watching far less non-Quakes MLS than previously. Any Quakes ii games I wish to see will be in person. The rest I can read the detailed reports from @jeff_adams. I get the Apple Season Pass for zero dollars (as a season ticketholder). That is the value I ascribe to it.
Incremental cost of Quakes games in my Comcast subscription, which I still have without rebate notwithstanding the loss of said Quakes games. You are disingenuous in suggesting lack of understanding that Quakes were always free on TV.
I think the only lack of understanding here is you not seeing that I am just (using a British idiom) taking the piss with you.
I came here to say the same thing. Any resemblance to Zlatan is purely coincidental I'm sure . "It's your pleasure to meet me" -Zava
