last goal for Cincy happened because Gimenez couldn’t clear the ball: header out of bounds for a second corner attempt then weak clearance attempt to lead to the goal on the next corner
This felt like the Charlotte or Columbus home games from last year. No improvement. Same old BS. It shouldn’t be surprising because we basically have the same team. Thanks Heitz.
Neither had a perfect game, but Mueller earned a PK and got us our third goal while Guti assisted on Kacpar’s goal and sprung Mueller for the play that earned the PK. Guti had a noticeable drop in impact and work rate as the game went on, and Mueller had some moments as well, but as far as measurable impact and the old eyeball test, they were the best we had out there last night imho.
Based on how things have gone, and we’re going, I thought for sure he was going to draw cards and be unavailable next week. He was so mad, but had enough wits about him to realize he was in tilt and walked alway. I may have it wrong, but it sure seemed to me that, after Mueller’s dive drew the PK, CIN had 5 or 6 players flopping excessively and then jawed back at us and the ref ‘just doing what you were doing’…and by the time Kacper yanked on the guys arm to get up, we were tired with how far they were taking it. And it really was sophomoric as hell. Hate that diving/feinting/acting crap
Him rubbing his eyes to mimic the player crying was Blanco-esque in its awesomeness He was probably lucky not to get a card, but moments like that would make the Feds a good rival if we ever stopped sucking enough to be rivals with anyone.
Ezra did some things right to get us to 3-1 with that decimated injured/suspended roster. I don’t want to diminish that. He just seems to miss on tactical changes in the second half. Let’s get him some tactical support and see if we can get our second half up to our first half levels. Maybe I’m off base. I want him to succeed. Just spitballing.
to be fair to Ezra, coaches of other teams are often brining on legitimate scoring threats off the bench and Ezra has guys that should be playing Fire II or USL filling his bench last night was the most extreme example of it, but it’s almost always the case that the bench has had no real weapons for the entire Heitz era
Better update my "goals allowed after the 80th minute" chart from last week [emoji23][emoji22][emoji24]
I know the weather was bad but that's awful. No reason to be below 10k. MN sold out last weekend with similar temps and heavier snow. Other northern teams did the same
Wasn't the MN game an opener? I don't blame people for not wanting to see this team until it deserves to be seen.
The wife & I decided to sit this one out at home where the food was cheaper, the beer & booze was better, the seating more comfortable, and the temperature a lot warmer. We'll get back together with everyone next time. I've been thinking about, . . . what if . . . the Apple+ feed was projected on the side of a building next to a parking lot and we could have a 90 minute tailgate. Sigh . . .
I got a chuckle from a comment on the mls attendance thread. Someone said the fire need to get Precourted. Don’t they know we are already getting mansueto’d?
when i saw a clip of one of the goals on fb, i could see the stands and thought, "wow, there are only 20 people in those four sections."
Honestly...I am done with going to see any soccer when it is <40 degrees with potential for rain/snow. I did that for years and it is just not so much fun to me. I hate..HATE that the north holds home matches in March and even first half of April when we could be playing in Miami or Dallas then. This is not American football where wintry conditions oddly seems more...right to play and spectate. This is soccer. So yes....I will do my silent protest every year when I think 3 days ahead of match the weather looks cold or cool and rainy...and change my ticket forward.
I wasn’t even cold. I mean, it was cold out but I dressed for it and didn’t even need to zip up the coat.
Have I mentioned here how much I hate Souquet at this point? I haven't seen him provide anything truly positive for us, especially defensively. Which is kinda important in a defender. Both of those last two goals were on him. All the open spaces left for the wide open player to score were due to him being dumb and ball-watching. It's like watching U-7s.
