I’m as critical of our players as anyone, but let’s remember that MODRIC was voted the worst transfer when he came in Liga his first season.

Tchoumeni is quality. You can see it when he plays for France and flashes here and there for us. He’s lacking match rhythm and fitness after the WC and the flu.

He’s going to be a great player for us for many years.

Tchouameni has been off the boil for a while now. He's been a good signing but it's fair to say the WC hasn't helped his form with us.

 

The idea that some had that we just had to replace the veterans with younger players and then we'd instantly " run teams off the park" was always a fantasy IMO, it takes time for players to gel and like them or not, despite the many flaws some think they had/have, the standard set by KCM was very very high, youth alone cannot achieve that, quality and time is needed, we have the quality, they need the time, a scarce commodity in Madrid unfortunately as we always have to win.
