I didn't like how much pressure we sustained in the first 20ish minutes. I felt it got a little too deep, a little too threatening at times. That being said though, Roma had sustained up until the point where they usually rally and start to tire out the opponent and come away with more opportunities. The defensive line reacted badly to Zalewski getting played on his flank by Zaccagni, I felt like Mancini should have read that and dropped half a second quicker to double-mark Zaccagni. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't know why Mancini's recovery was so casual with Zalewski being isolated as a CB in that split second. You could even say Smalling shouldn't have pressed forward, and rather should have let Wijnaldum cover his man in that zone. I don't see much wrong with that ball by Dybala, it could have been a touch cleaner yes, but if Ibanez saw ahead of him and two pressing opposition players then he could have just booted it up rather than taking such a poor touch. The fact that he attempted to dive in on that is even sillier. Though, he should have never gotten the first yellow, it's still up to him to make the right decision once the circumstances change. I don't think all is lost. Frattesi would have offered us such a hang, still ruing over Zaniolo not accepting Bournemouth.
It was an awful touch from Ibanez and then a simply idiotic attempt to win the ball back given he was on a yellow. Overall an unforgivably bad reading of a situation. Small mistakes will happen but stupid mistakes like this in big games cant happen. The fact I think it was a harsh double yellow and sending off overall is neither here nor there. Now to bitch about the refs. There is no doubt we are not being treated equally when it comes to bookings. Seems we're in the book for minor things a lot whereas the oppo are generally allowed to get away with a lot more before a yellow appears. (Mancini is an exception however.....)
In that moment he has two safer passes beside him on the ground. Zaleski and Cristante. The obvious pas was into Cristante who would have done his usual first time touch back out to the wing to zalewski . Simple and safe recycling of possession that they so often use. It was just a touch casual when it didnt need to be. To leave your teammates with a bouncing pass against Sarri whose players, they will have been warned about his press and such passes. Its just not worth the risk as we seen. Small details make huge shifts in a game. Roma are getting pretty good at managing games all the same but this was a moment that could have been easily avoided. Sarri's players can look nonengaging and then in a second, they're on top off you. Bad touch leading into an instinctive lounge.
For what it’s worth, I thought that Roma played their asses off defensively after Ibanez screwed them over. Quite a few “out of nowhere the Roma defender flew in to block that shot/service” plays.
Oh, Mr. Pathetic shows his ugly face again. Save yourself another humiliation will you. I have humiliated you countless times, I won't be wasting my time with you any longer. You are a lost cause. P. S. Good luck with the rest of your pathetic life, I hope the nurses welcome you back when they find you at the happy, clappy farm.
Roma legend Roberto Pruzzo: “Roma must ask to have their games refereed by officials outside the Italian federation.“On Sunday, Roma received a yellow card after every foul, and Lazio had a yellow card once every five fouls. It’s a war between Roma and the referees.” 🔥🟡🔴— Football Italia (@footballitalia) March 20, 2023
bunker mentality. wish pioli and ex milan players were like this. putting pressure on corrupt serie a
6 points fumbled away to Cremona and Sassuolo. Losing to Lazio. And still only 1 point out of the top 4. Keep hope alive.
You really need to finish top 3, not 4. The danger is Juve get their points back. I agree that Europa is the likelier route to the UCL and should be prioritized.
It’s like this team is doing everything they can to avoid finishing in the top 4, just at the time it seemed most achievable.
Well, you know they're crazy about Shitanez, kind of like how we adored Paolo Negro back in the good old days!
Mm I see what you mean as I take a look again. The best option there was Cristante, it was a forced ball.

Looks like a soft foul, but with the way Roma play, they are constantly testing those waters with referees. From time to time, those calls go against you, right or wrong.
