Divorcing herself from the palace in the video will get her more support than embracing it. If shovels aren't in the ground in Arlington Heights in the next 5 years the Bears lease will likely run out before any move. Then MLL (or her successor) can really tell the Bears to f off to BFE for their stadium.
This is a discussion about architecture in Chicago, which means planners need to be able to think outside the box: A 40,000ish capacity soccer venue with covered seating for weather considerations and making the matches loud. Concerts put another 10-15,000 on the field. Solidier Field was originally open at the north/Field Museum end. Build north end seating as movable to the north to expand seating for larger events and nobody will bypass Chicago for a big tour. The Stones will be dead and buried by then (except for Kieth).
We are NOT allowed to disparage or even talk about billionaires in this thread!!! [emoji50][emoji50][emoji50] They are sweet and precious creatures and must be cherished... allegedly.
Agreed! You have to think of it like this -- if they were a good investment, then the teams or the leagues would be making it themselves, so they have total control.
I'll tell you what, an MLS team in a 35k stadium that sells alcohol in Evanston would make a great rival for the Fire.
Imagine a scenario where between a rebranded 1997 Chicago FC and an expansion FC North Chicago, one is a lovable loser and the other is a perrenial contender. I'll figure out which is which after a few beers and shots of Malort.
Would have been interesting if that USL team had done their deal north side of downtown. With the Fire out of Bridgeview, I wonder if someone- USL-C or USL-1 would ever consider putting a team there? Big market, although they have not had much luck as second teams- I would say Miami FC not setting the world on fire, who knows what is going on with Queensboro, Orange County FC is not really LA. Will be interesting if Fort Worth gets that team how they do in the DFW market.
Granted they played in bridgeview and launched during COVID, Chicago house ac attempted to go division 3 and failed pretty hard. I think that original USL idea on the north side would’ve had a better chance
A bit of background on the first season of the House. https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...ouses-open-cup-run-and-his.html?edition=29575
is this post suggesting the Reese site for a new stadium? you may know this, but there's a group with a huge master development plan for the site https://bronzevillelakefront.com/
yeah, it's an interesting idea as I understand it, that was going to be the Olympic Village site if Chicago got the 2016 Olympics
When that failed it was offered to the Fire as a location for a training center. That’s why I associate it with the Fire.
