Agree. I'm really xxssed off with samardzic, a top talent who we invested so much in. Just can't understand why he would opt for serbia(No disrespect). And I'm sick if these sub standard footballing nations who pray on the elite teams with dual options. The likes of Turkey, morroco produce nothing but prey on duals of other nation.

Glad Paul wanner is sticking, and we must make sure we tie down future national team prospects ASAP. Was dreaming of Wirtz, Musiala, Samardzic in the same team!

Samardzic was never helped that his father NEVER wanted his son to play for Germany. There was an interview in past where he was ranting at how they aren't German and that he wants his son to play for Serbia but it was the choice of his son. Unlikely he had no influence in the decision too. I don't think its coincidence that Di Salvo talks about not only winning players but their families too.

that's also why I could never 100% root for Morocco. That NT was just poaching players from France, Belgium, Germany, etc. Like more than half the squad was poached players and then you see none anywhere caring about how they just took advantage of the money and investment of other countries. Morocco and Algeria all their recent success is from poaching. I think the FIFA rules on duals need to be more strict and harder to poach. Let countries dev their own players.

but reason why dfb is reacting because we've lost too many recently.
Stanisic, Tillman, Samardzic, Gedikli, Matanovic, Yildiz, Uzun, Chiarodia, Vidovic, Simic, Appelkamp, Konigsdorrfer and so many others. Like majority of this quick list were with Germany too and bailed.

only + news for us is that from 02-onwards we have more AM/W prospects than ever. Although sucks to lose Samardzic we still have way to make up for it. Its only a matter of keeping of likes Wanner, Ibrahimovic, and everyone else (won't name them all) in the program.

you might as well replace Samardzic with one of these youngsters instead. But what sucks is that Samardzic could have been ready for Senior NT between now and Euro. Rest is 2026 WC MIN. So now we are forced to wait some years.

still likes of Schade, Burkardt (when fit) etc are good options for present and can play all attacking positions too.

I can't help but LOL at Turkey. All those players poached from Germany and they can't even qualify for the World Cup.

Seriously, before they went on their poaching spree they did a hell of a lot better, finishing third in the 2002 World Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the 2008 Euro.

Kuntz had sooooo many disastrous results as Turkey coach, LOL.

I actually liked Turkey in 2002 and 2008. Gave us a good game in 2008 SF and in 2002 gave a good run vs Brazil Twice.

too bad loser Rivaldo showed himself to be pathetic diver. Too many players impossible to like or praise them when they are A-Holes.

I remember Rivaldo got fined for that cheating, but said something like “In football you have to be sly” and Roberto Carlos defended him and also admitted he himself ‘had simulated many fouls including winning penalties’ during his own career and that "It's moves like that that can make you world champion. You have to be intelligent. Brazilians have always managed to get other players ejected using their intelligence." or some other such shit in the aftermath.

Disappointing tbh, as I did admire that Brazil team at the time but that put me off them a bit. Too bad we couldn’t beat them in the final.

Ronaldo admitted that the Germany final was not easy and had Neuville not hit post whole match would have been different. Also add no Ballack too.

The majority of Balkan kids dont identify as Germans and their parents who came here in the 80s 90s and early 2000s definitely have way a lot more affinity to their first homeland, so it was always going to be extremely difficult to get any of them to play for Germany. The rest of dual nationals as you said if you show them a path to the first team then they will likely choose Germany.

Being successful as Germany was between 2008 and 2016 meant there wasnt much room for younger players to break through as we were stacked with champions league and world cup winners so players coming through were always going to be ignored for proven players that have experience in going deep in tournaments and winning trophies. The shift should have come after that 2016 EC and before the 2018 world cup but the DFB and Löw obviously believed that they could squeeze one more deep run out of the core of 2014 world cup winning team.

Covid didnt help things as it made it impossible for any of the kids coming up to be capped since there wasnt much football at club and especially international level.

We had a huge win in Musiala, who one could argue is more English than German at least in Footballing sense, and while it would have been nice to have few of the others you mentioned I think we have to accept that you win some and you lose some and I truly believe the Musiala win probably outweighs all the losses you mentioned above.

Again, I want the DFB to do better at retention and it seems they are addressing this issue now so hopefully more players will see a future under Flick.

Those parents are ungrateful. They left their homelands to war or lack of jobs which they got in Germany but their reactions is dislike towards their adopted home countries. But even those Balkans kids they are playing for Germany to begin with so they aren't against it just that dfb isn't doing enough to convince them. And no even Balkan kids if you show them path they'll also play for Germany. All duals these days need pampering but dfb seems reluctant to do that.

that isn't 100% what happened. As 2010-2012 is when loads of young players brokethrough. You have to remember that Germany 2000-2008 was an aging/older squad. It was the 2010 Youth revolution that kickstarted the 2014 WC win. But issue is at some point, Low made it super super hard to breakthrough. One had to be amazing for numerous seasons+constant blacklisting+Low loved to be bias and have favorites and door was rarely open. But back then as I keep saying # of duals was super easy to manage unlike now and forever going forward.

Musiala was already a crazy dribbler before he left Germany and was destroying older kids in Germany. When he went to Pengland they saw how good he was from day 1 that he was put to play vs older kids and destroying them. Kid was talented from day 1, not like he became amazing because of England. He also didn't get his Penglish passport until 1 year before he returned to Germany. So yeah Pengland was calling him up for longest time when he wasn't even eligible for them just so that we can't have him. That's definition of them poaching him from us. He only went to England because of his mother's studies and returned to due Brexit. When he came back to Germany his game was nowhere near finished and he got all the final touches in Germany. For years he was constantly talking about doing extra training, shooting training etc with German coaches. At end of day, only thing one can argue is that he was dev in BOTH countries. As dev doesn't end at 16 y/o, for me always disengenous when anyone tries to argue all dev was done in England. As of now Musiala has now spent more time in Germany than England too. 9 years in England vs 11 years in Germany and counting.

one player isn't enough. You need a pool of options not a few. And not every player mentioned is a AM/W some were CBs and others CFs. Chiarodia is a CB that Bremen sees as one of most promising in Europe for example. We are losing talented players and will continue to do so in future.

its not about winning some and losing some, its that dfb needs to change their attitude. As I mentioned they HAD too much of a whatever about players who play for Germany leaving but then try to win over ones that don't. That makes little sense.

also we are Germany we shouldn't be losing duals to anyone. Its SUPER EMBARRASSING that Germany was very close and still is of losing Wanner to bloody Austria a team that rarely qualifies for anything. And that we are losing duals to 2nd and 3rd rate countries.

Germany had a really great track record with duals UNTIL this PAST YEAR.....

expanded Euro (2016-onwards) and Expanded WCs (2026-onwards) gonna make keeping duals even harder than ever as every players wants to play NT.

For very selfish reasons I hope Wirtz ends up at Bayern, he would create a great partnership with Musiala for club and country, but I also hope he stays in Leverkusen for another season. I think Xabi Alonso is great for his development.

Bayern should integrate Wanner-Ibrahimovic they don't need Wirtz. I get the temptation but they have their own talented players but just constantly love to block them.

Wirtz looking like based on all reports and himself/family like he's not leaving Bayer until 2024. I think because of his long term injury and not wanting to risk home Euro 2024 he's staying put but after that he's a goner.

yes Barca has money issues for now but things can change by 2024 and reality is he's linked to every top club in Europe anyways.

    Emre Can on...
...his return and the first training session: It's nice to be back. We all always have fun. The guys are up for it, the pace was extremely high. The intensity and level were very good.

... the summer fairy tale of 2006 and the 2024 European Championships at home: the solidarity back then in Germany was extreme. Our goal must be to be one with the media and the more than 80 million people in Germany. The fire has to be kindled - and then the boys feel it on the pitch too. If we can do that, we can have a very, very successful European Championship here at home in Germany.

... prominent names that are missing in the squad: A few names surprised you - not those who are there, but those who stayed at home. The coach has an idea and these players will surely come back in the future. But it's now a chance for the new players - or like for Florian and me - to show ourselves again. But when the squad was announced, we were all very surprised.

... Marius Wolf: I've always liked him. He was always on the gas, did his thing. Marius has always had top quality. He's done great over the past few weeks. He can become an important player in the national team. It's no secret that no player has settled into the right full-back position. Marius can take his chance, I trust him.

... his role in the team: You will see that in the course of the measure. Everyone knows how I play soccer. I love throwing myself in for my team. This is important for me. I want to prove myself, want to play football. That is always my goal and will always be my goal.

... BVB's good form: Things have been going well since this year. We're a really good team, but we haven't always played well. But we always showed mentality. We can take that with us to the national team. You saw it at the World Cup with teams like Morocco and Argentina: they were teams. You can achieve so much if you tear yourself apart as a team - then you can be very, very successful.

    Matthias Ginter on...
... the summer fairy tale of 2006 and the European Championships at home: The World Cup, these are crazy childhood memories. I was in fifth grade. The whole streets were full, everything was decorated with German flags, there was public viewing everywhere. The whole country was behind the national team. Heroes stood on the square. That was incredible for everyone. I know what it can trigger in a country. It is a huge goal to restore euphoria and cohesion as well.

... the public unit: Of course that was great. It was nice to see that so many people, children, young people were there. We saw a lot of friendly faces, wrote autographs, took selfies. It's important to be close to the fan and not so distant. Basically, you can go two ways: On the one hand, the sporty one. When we perform and are successful, that's a good way to become one with the fans. The second track: you take measures like on Monday. If you're not so distant, you show that you're on par with the viewers. These two aspects are very important to get where you were five, six years ago.

... the team: Everyone who is here has performed well through the club and deserves to be here. Florian is a huge talent, he has a lot of potential. Emre too. We know that things haven't gone optimally in the last few games - if you can put it that way. But we are ready to go full throttle and just give something back to the fans with passion - on and off the pitch.

... his role in the team: It was often emphasized that nobody was really happy at the World Cup - whether you played or not. But that's done. I try to do my best at the club and get in the best possible shape. Things are going pretty well at the moment. When you're invited here, you always want to step on the gas. The coach decides everything else.

... the pecking order in defence: I've been with the national team for over nine years with breaks. I think in Toni Rüdiger and Niklas Süle we have two great central defenders who also perform well at the club. Until the tournament there are only friendlies. On the one hand, this is an opportunity for those who have just joined. But it's also important that we deliver results to build anticipation for the tournament. It's a balancing act. But the coach has to decide, we players can only offer ourselves.

    Florian Wirtz about...
... his return to the DFB team: It was fun to be back on the pitch with the lads. Training was a little easier for me today because I still played on Sunday. But it was a good feeling again to be on the pitch with a lot of good players. I'm looking forward to the next units.

... his role as a beacon of hope: I don't feel any pressure. In the end, what matters is that we perform well as a team. I have to do my part, find my way into the team and find my qualities. When everyone is at their best, we can play good football as a team. I don't let pressure get to me. We have a very good team here, I'm happy to be part of it.

... an axis in the team: We haven't trained that much yet, so you can't say too much about it. Everyone has to prove themselves in training. I don't know whether I'll then be part of an axis. I try to step on the gas in training, to show my qualities.

... his serious injury: I no longer have any pain or after-effects. The knee has healed very well, we have worked very well in rehab. Fitness was the problem in the beginning. I had to get them back through games. That was a little more difficult. I think I can still work on a few percentage points to play really well again. I like working on myself. I will continue to do this over the coming weeks and months.

... his game idea: I still have the same idea of the football game, I didn't consciously change anything. My idea of the game is good passes forward, being dangerous and important for the team, getting involved, with everything that goes with it. I always try to do my best on the pitch - here too.

... the European Championships at home: I would like to be there, play a good tournament with the team and inspire people in Germany. That we go out together and celebrate together. It will be a very nice experience. Rudi Völler said that we can be happy. We intend to be well prepared and play a good tournament. And I want to play a good tournament for myself, contribute to the team and help the team go far.

... Jamal Musiala: It's a shame that Jamal had to leave injured. I hope he recovers quickly. I would have been happy to be on the pitch with him. This only happened once for a few minutes. It would have been fun to see how it fits.

... Rudi Völler: It's nice that he's here. I have good contact with him. He is always very honest and an experienced man who can help the team.

looks like lost Samardzic because Flick was being late to act. This is also why we lost Stanisic too because Kuntz was too late and also because Stanisic was like Germany U21 vs Croatia Senior NT....obvious which he would take.

I mean COME ON, Serbia coach has been saying he's gonna poach Samardzic back in Fall and Flick acts towards him like NOW......also that Serbian coach made it clear that he can be involved ASAP is what lured him.

but continues to show how incompetent dfb is. Flick and Low have a habit of calling up players like last second WITHOUT talking to those players until super close to call ups. And now top talents last second effort instead of making effort from get go. Had he had these talks with him post WC22 back in 2022 he would have likely succeeded in keeping him. Likely Flick was too busy analyzing why we bombed, LMAO.

this is growing issue with duals.....more and more and more of them DON'T want to play U21 or YNT. Once they breakthrough pros they want Senior NT, its that bloody perspective NOW NOW NOW. Same reason we lost Tillman who was like he didn't want to wait and see if MAYBE down the line he'll get Senior NT call up or not so bailed for call up NOW.

Cancellation to DFB: Samardzic plays for Serbia – already decided before Flick called
"Hansi Flick tried very hard for me and for his part showed me a way with the senior national team, which made me very happy. Of course it's an honor when the German national coach calls you," said the 21-year-old midfielder in an interview with "Sport1". "Nevertheless, at that point I was already sure that I wanted to play for my parents' home country."

one should recall that Low purposefully called up Gnabry, Sane, Tah, Henrichs etc to Senior NT for the sole purpose of perm cap tying them.

some of these played Senior NT, got perm cap tied then dumped back to U21, LMAO.

so Low was well aware that one needs to act on any and all relevant duals ASAP.

Lesson to learn here is all duals are opportunistic.
Samardzic and Tillman both talked about playing Germany U21 and U21 Euro but moment other NT Senior NT door opens they bail......don't take anything anyone says as factual. And you are legit forced to pamper them and you need Senior NT coach involved, U21 isn't enough.

Less we forget THE LAST GOOD ACT of Low was winning over Musiala...

England was like Musiala didn't do enough for Senior NT, so U21 ONLY for now.
Low comes and convinces him to play Germany and he did tell him no promises that he'll make Euro 2020 that he has to work for it.

and something often missed by Pengland fans was that Musiala was NOT eligible for Germany U21 last cycle as he played England U21 qualifiers. So for us it was Senior NT or NOTHING.

who was the idiot in this situation??? Southgate.

for top talents who breakthrough pros early and perform, show potential you have to make the Senior NT move ASAP. The Senior NT coach has to be contact early with those players too.

Flick comes in seems oblivious to how all this work. And now Germany is gonna change their whole model as they are well aware that winning duals is a field of its own, lol.

Agree. Some excellent points as usual. It's imperative we take duals seriously and tie down big potential duals ASAP.

But let's not forget guys, in Wirtz and Musiala we have 2 incredible talents that are generational, with other high class performers who can help them. Yes we build our reserves and back ups, but I'm really exited for the next decade in which we can reach the fifth world crown and a fourth euros.

I think its more that they are lured by whole
"Your never gonna make it with Germany but can be a star with us." Argument.

struggle to make 10-20 caps while you can have over 50+ with us. etc.

I'm confused by the existence of dual nationals in Germany. I perfectly remember reading that German Law forbids dual nationality, but these dual nationality players show there are ways to circumvent that. How come?

Germany doesn't allow dual passports after X age so what happens is that those duals rennounce their German passport when they ditch.

some duals don't have non-German passport but since they are descent and eligible they can aquire it. Like supposedly Mehmet Can Aydin one of the duals poached this month of March by Turkey/Kuntz didn't have Turkish passport so he got it to go play Turkey Senior NT.

funny thing in all the Germany stole Miroslav Klose from Poland BS....even though he's 100% German dev and his father is German......he renounced his Polish passport years before even getting DFB call up.

"Klose relinquished Polish citizenship at age 18, opting to keep his German passport."

So Klose was ONLY eligible for Germany.

a Oliver Neuville although born in Swiss to German father and Italian mother. At 18 y/o had German and Italy passport, later only German.

after X age (I forgot which age it was) one has to decide which one you keep.

This is why Jogi is the real master of keeping the talented dual player to stick with dfb. Back in 2009 he successfully convinced Mesut to play for Germany, fast forward 2021, it's Musiala. He even already talking about the excitement of the future of Germany with Moukoko while the kid is still playing for the u15/16. Meanwhile, Hansi seems to be the total opposite of that.He looks like that one awkward lonely uncle that you rarely meet.
