I don't know names but Galaxy was voted to be anywhere between #1 and #6 in a media poll, meaning some think we'll be #1. Note that I am not one of them, but I expect a playoff team with a dominant Puig.
There are idiots everywhere. Anyone who expects the Galaxy to be anywhere close to #1 at the end of this season is an idiot. We lack finishers all over the field, we severely lack depth, we have a mediocre left back, a so-so keeper, a rookie center back, our best forward is 50-50 to miss half the season, our coach hasn't been able to stop counter attack goals after years of trying. We cheated our way out of being able to participate in the summer bonanza of transfer signings. We are no better than we were last season and the result is that we are headed for another "strive to make the playoffs" season, just like we have since Klein took over. Mark my words. And if you disagree I will be happy to put some significant $$ on it.
Galaxy supporters are actively trying to save the club. LARS president @samoabob on how to do just that, and why it matters. #LAGalaxy https://t.co/R2AWqYdVyp— 𝕁𝕠𝕚𝕖 𝔾𝕒𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕢𝕦𝕖 (@JoieGalactique) March 15, 2023
thank you for posting this, it was a good read. a couple of things stuck out to me, and what I think is the best reason to boycott. and the Klein history at a glance also mentioned in the article was Andrew's opinion on the what the future of the Galaxy should look like and what needs to change to make it one club again and it sure sounds like what LAFC is doing, sadly
A lot of people around here have been lamenting the failings of the front office, the marketing department, the scouting, the poor signings and contracts, etc. for years. The idea that Klein needs to go is not new. The SGs finally got fed up with only doing banners, hashtags, and airplanes. The boycott was the next step.
This isn’t exactly Klein Out, but it’s bringing in a guy who is really well respected at doing what a replacement for Klein on the sporting side would do Sources: Will Kuntz has joined the LA Galaxy front office.Kuntz spent 2017-22 with LAFC, helping build the rosters that led to one MLS Cup and two Supporters’ Shields. He joins interim sporting director (& head coach) Greg Vanney, technical director Jovan Kirovski and more. pic.twitter.com/4eQThvRpng— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) March 18, 2023
Everyone’s mileage may vary but if they combine this with a Klein exile to a “business only “ role then I think the SGs should take the W and return. my humble opinion.
This would be a big win, but I also think there are many steps Klein and the FO need to address on and off the field. For example, just last week, we were talking about how horrible the away viewing parties are, and this week, season ticket holders are talking about how long it took to get their bucket hats, which ended up being too small. They need someone who can address these concerns and make fans like us feel appreciated.
That is the essential question. I would expect him to be DTK's replacement at a minimum which I would expect to include player contract control. I hope they also up the staff lawyer position so it includes MLS rule compliance. It can be inside or outside counsel but they can't afford another rules violation.
Galaxy’s legal is handled by AEG in-house counsel, but you don’t necessarily need to be a lawyer to do internal league rule compliance. Having said that, Kuntz, who happens to have a JD and went to LAFC from MLS where he was part of the negotiating team for the 2015 CBA, should be well-versed in the rules and will probably be the major upgrade in that department.
I’m not overly optimistic about Kuntz. Not because I don’t think he has the ability, but because we are a disorganized mess without a structure to integrate talented individuals add to the organizations forward momentum. It’s like brining in Zlatan to the mess of a team he joined. It might paper over the cracks, but eventually the organizational dysfunction will make the situation untenable and they leave. I hope I’m wrong, I hope this is AEG trying to save face and gracefully exit Klein from influence, but I think it’s just as likely Klein is still running this club in to ground and Kuntz has washed his hands of the whole thing.
It just occured to me that if the SG's are not back in the stadium for the LAFC game, it's going to be a disaster. There were times last night you could hear the players yelling, imagine that void filled by LAFC supporters ...ughhh. Will essentially be an LAFC home game. Also, we heard all this about Klein stepping away when te Kloese came, I no longer believe it.
I like the Kuntz hire. The kind of people we should be looking to hire are people who were successful running something at a poorer franchise (so they would be willing to leave for us) or someone who was second in command at a high-quality franchise who needs to move in order to move up.
First, I don't know how much budget control Klein has with things. Nevertheless, there have been non-soccer operations things this spring that should have been in his wheelhouse (as Beirut has pointed out) that have been mishandled, I think given this combination, he should go ASAP. regardless of what I post below. Second, I suspect given Klein's apparently negligent management style, that DTK is the one primarily to blame for the Pavon contract mess. The league office pretty much said as much when they setup a requirement for a future punishment if he ever returned to MLS (regardless of club). Because of the above, I have some hope (but not a lot of confidence) that AEG (and Klein) will stop messing around with DP signings and let them be handled by the soccer operations side.
Was very excited to find out that my TWO season tickets got me ONE child-sized bucket hat. It's like now they are just rubbing our noses in it....
I saw a picture of an adult man with that ridiculously small hat on some website (perhaps Twitter). Might that have been you.
I haven’t even got mine yet. I did see a fair amount of people wearing small bucket hats Saturday night can make this stiff up with our FO.
I’ve gotta see these bucket hats. Don’t know what that is. I’m picturing a teeny fluorescent orange hard hat that can’t for on an adult head.
The Dynamo also sent me a child size bucket hat, guess it's a trend this year. I just gave it to my son. Plus, the box it came in was freaking huge, which takes up a lot of room in my collection. Not a fan of the packaging. It easily takes up six seasons worth of other member boxes.
