Yeah he will likely have to hear questions about it. But he made his statement months ago. He moved past it with the team and he will be there to work hard.
This isn't excusing his World Cup behavior, but the point, which you apparently are missing, is when parents act like that, it will have an affect on the kid, almost no matter what the age. Probably a little hard to concentrate at the moment, because these things do affect people, whether you think they should or not, whether you think a 20 year old should successfully shrug it off or not.
no doubt this entire situation affects Gio. How could it not? it all needs to just quietly go away. Danielle and Claudio have certainly not helped their son here. I realize they are being protective - but their son needs to just focus on his craft and not think about family issues and publicity. at this point they can only react to where they are - hopefully they choose the wisest approach.

I thought he was mediocre at best vs Chelsea...but then again, so was much of the team. Actually, no, they were garbage.
It was 6-1 the game was over. Not sure what else you would call it. You really think Malen is better than Gio? I'm rooting for Dortmund and was critical of folks pushing for Gio to move but I expected him to start with Brandt out. Obviously it worked out fine for Dortmund today but the thread is about Gio and he isn't going to get back to peak performance without some starts.
He's 20, going on 21, and has been living independently, and overseas, for the last 4 years. That makes him an independent adult. He could have told his parents to let him manage his situation with Berhalter himself - preferably by training so well that Beerholder had no choice but to play him in Qatar - and, not to mention dissociating himself from their petty spite. This sorry tale has just a little too much of him not being able to be his own person but a chess piece in his parents' revenge mission against the bum hand life dealt them 20 years ago.
The rubber hits the road for Gio now. Dortmund in first by a point - crucial time to show you are a team player. Same for the next 2 weeks with the US. I hope he can block out the noise and focus. I have been critical of his attitude during the cup, that's over as far as his part. I'm rooting for Gio - I really think the next 3 months are going to be important for his development. Go get em.
I would have preferred Gio to start over Malen 100%. My point is; 20 min is NOT garbage minutes when you have been riding bench and getting subbed in with 3 min to go. But yeah, end of the day, Malen got it done.
People here have zero patience. The moment Puli didn't start two games in a row, they wanted him to submit a Xfer request too. Clowns.
And yet you've posted almost 62,000 (!) messages here. Nearly 4,000 messages every single year for 16 years. Weird! You must like interacting with clowns.
