my point is that you don't have to be a dick to the guy just cause you don't think he's not good enough. Your comments show that you're the one with the problem.

Lets see, you have the #2 and 5 picks in the draft and two allocations coming and now one of the best judges of talent in the U.S., so I'm sure you will get some scorers for next year. You guys got off real cheap.

I doubt he will lose sleep, just wondered if he had a say would he have told Nick to give the #5 and another pick and keep Faria. My guess is he liked Faria because the Fire wanted to trade for him last year (If you can believe the rumors.)

I'm sorry to see Faria go. He may not have been the world's most skilled or graceful goal scorer, but he got the job done! With our luck he'll triple his goals with the Fire. Isn't that the usual Ex-Metro star curse we always get hit with.

God help us if this is the case next year!

There'll be plenty of out-of-work strikers over the next four months (I'm betting Harris and Pineda Chacon, for two, with Twellman and Serna likely returning), and I'm sure Mr. Bradley will be looking at all of them. How much cap room do you have? Diallo and Ramos alone must make a chunk of change available.

Watch any league in the world and tell me how many of the open goals and other sitters Faria missed, that a WORLD CLASS STRIKER is going to miss!!!! Not 50%. It is not just that he missed goals by taking them from all over the pitch and in difficult positions. I would discount those, as with any other striker and less than 50% is expected. It was the absolutely, slam dunk misses that drove people nuts with Faria. Hustle? You couldn't have expected more from Faria. Goals, we could have.

Another one living on the moon. I can't wait till we have another player like Comas here who not only misses the sitters that gets the few of you up in arms, but he also misses just about everything else and creates zero chances.

First of all, "WORLD CLASS STRIKERS" miss sitters all the time. But, let me ask you a question. How man "WORLD CLASS STRIKERS" make $45K a year? I'll give you a clue, the answer rhymes with Nero.

If you compare Faria with "WORLD CLASS STRIKERS", of course Faria falls short. Just like Petke, Jolley, Akwari and the rest of our defense all fall way short of World Class Defenders. Just like Williams, Davis, and the rest of our midfield falls short of World Class Midfielders, etc., etc.

Apples and oranges. If you want MLS players and their small salaries to compete with WORLD CLASS players, then you've set your expectations unrealisticly high.

Jesus, how come so few people on these boards understand the reality of MLS and the Metros?

And besides, if Faria had that great first touch and finishing 2nd to none, he wouldn't even be playing in MLS.

Regardless, he's gone.....we will miss the goals, but I think we should be able to pick someone up to fill the spot...Christ, we lose our leading scorer almost every year.....plus, we got Bradley.....fair enough.....

Now, I think it will be fun to see them work in Razov, Wolff, and Faria.....The fire Offense is going to consist of three guys tripping over each other, fighting for the same space...

As they said in the movie "Greek Wedding", apples and oranges are both fruits.

The reality is the WC, not your imagination. Those MLS players looked pretty good in K/J, despite their small salaries.

Anybody can have a good run. If our players were so good for such a bargain how come they ain't in Europe? And don't say the MLS is asking for too much.

If I were Crew GM I'd be willing to trade you Cunningham (MLS's top goalscorer over the last two seasons) if you could come up with a right winger worthy of the trade...

WORLD CLASS STRIKERS MISS SITTERS "ALL OF THE TIME"? If you mean that World Class Strikers, as a group, will miss sitters, that is correct. If you suggest that any individual World Class Striker misses sitters often, I disagree. Those are not World Class Strikers.

Let's be a realistic. Faria was a good MLS striker. Not world class. Not a waste like Comas. He scored some nice ones, created some nice ones & unfortunately, missed some sitters. Yes, he always hustled, but we had to give up some sort of quality in the deal & we did. Hopefully, we'll find a replacement as good or better. Do we go the SI route or try to acquire someone like Dante Washinton or Rhine or someone along those lines? That's the question now.

I talked to Faria at camp a while back when the season was just starting. He said he thought he could score 18 or 19 goals this year. He was very confident and that was his goal. He wanted to play well and possibly get a shot in Brazil.

A tomato is a fruit also, but you wouldn't want it in a fruit salad.

Yes, the US MLS players looked good in Korea, but how many players on the BRAZILIAN team played in MLS? How many of the other MLS foreigners played in the World Cup, for that matter?

he never wanted to try brazil....he wanted to make a name for himself in new york.....the difficulty in playing in brazil was the reason he came over in the first place.....you can be sure he is truly disappointed in leaving the metrostars....but very excited to come back to giants stadium and score some goals next year....

O.k. Clint's totals since coming from LA in 2000

2000: 13 goals with Metro + 3 with LA & 3 goals in the playoffs against the Burn in the Quarterfinals.

2001: Clint was on the verge of another 10 or 13+ goal scoring spree season, but because of the ACL knee injury he only got 7.

2002: With his time on the US Nats & World Cup. He scored 4 goals. So in a 2 1/2 year total Clint has 27 goals.

With Faria's two year Metro total at 20 + 3 playoff goals in 2001.

A total for Clint Mathis 27 Goals
A total for Rodrigo Faria 23 Goals

These numbers are regular season & Playoff goals combined. If you want to bring together US Open Cup goals as well. Both Mathis & Faria have scored two goals each.

2 For Mathis in the 2000 US Open Cup
2 For Faria in the 2002 US Open Cup

A grand total now for both players.
    Mathis 29 Goals
    Faria 25 Goals

Amazing how simular these numbers almost are if you count all goals from the MLS Regular Season, MLS Cup Playoffs & Lamar Hunt US Open Cup competition.

In other words we better draft a damn good player to score those big goals that we will miss now that Rodrigo Faria is with the Chicago Fire. Maybe the Faria Bashers are seeing performence, but I see the numbers. It costed as a damn good hard working Forward that could have been apart of a gigantic 1-2 scoring punch with Clint. Now we need to see who is available and who wants to play for Metro upfront with Clint including Senior International spots that are available now. Who we draft as well as tweek a few things here and there.

To all the Faria Bashers Fook You. We gave up a goal scoring machine Look up the numbers, I have.

When the f-did this conversation turn into whether or not Faria is world class????

He's not.....he is an adequate MLS player......thats it....

Comas and Valencia had good years for us too....they just stayed that 'extra' year and sucked it up....maybe we got rid of Faria while his value was still high.....

    Somewhere or other
I'm sorry to see him go, and I felt he really had the desire to play for the club, but getting Bradley was worth losing him.
