Bellingham is a ready made, day one star for us. But if we sign him, do we need Mason Mount? I don't think so. But we would need to sign a ready made water carrier, somebody like Amrabat or Mateo Kovacic (could be available after the chavs' huge spend). I'd then take a flyer on a free transfer, somebody like Skhiri from Cologne or either Asensio/Ceballos from real. These moves alone would eat up anything we'd have to spend. If we don't buy Bellingham, go buy Mount and buy Khephren Thuram. But just as important as improving the midfield is re-stocking the talent elsewhere in our squad. I love Gvardiol, but the odds are we won't be able to get him (whether we buy Bellingham or not). Evan N'Dicka would be perfect as a) a free transfer, b) he plays as a left-sided CB, and c) is friends with Konate and has played alongside him through all the French age-level squads. I'll happily sacrifice Matip or Gomez to see him come in. At this point if PSG wanted Virgil for 50m I'd let him walk out the door to facilitate more turnover. And I'd look to add some more talent to the front line with Bobby likely to leaving. Marcus Thuram would be a) free and b) a hugely talented addition to our front line at an optimal age. Or maybe (finally) sign Sarr as he's actually capable of playing on the RW for us. Let Klopp have next season as one to integrate the new players while pushing for a CL spot, and then in 24-25 be ready to battle in his final two seasons for the league and CL.
Or, I gave this lot every possible opportunity to show me they still belong here and the have flunked. Dismally.
I was just watching some of Monaco vs Nice and Thuram is having a monster game. I've seen him a few times now, and he should absolutely be on our list. The other player I really like is Manu Kone at Gladbach. If I had 200 million plus to spend it would be Bellingham, Thuram, and Kone.
