I’ll take a bit of time while I wait for the game and read. Still showing The Cock but I don’t trust them.
Chelsea have now won just two games in their last 14 in all competitions. oh, and today they lost against a team that has no manager.
I think their squad deffo has some weaknesses. If they can sign some players this summer they can turn it around maybe.
Good interview with Rafa...https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ee-ancelotti-we-dont-talk-about-istanbul-much Mods - I didn't know where to put this...
Absolutely wild reffing in the ManU-Leicester game. Sabitzer should walk for a straight red. Var says nah - nothing to see. Rashford blatantly offside on a goal - to the point the announcers even say this will be called back - VAR magics up a line not attached to a defender's shoulder to find a way to keep Rashford onside. The effort being made to make ManU relevant is so openly obvious.
it's basically disgusting now, the bias and / or utter incompetence is so blatant. those decisions were jaw-dropping. and there were a bunch of other minor decisions that all ran in MU's favour. plus -- if LC had any kind of composure in front of goal they'd have scored at least 4 in the first 30 minutes. they ran MU ragged, repeatedly.
very good good piece on how Qatar's purchase of Manure is a completely dreadful idea. we need to see this kind of thing in the UK/European media every damn day. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-sale-qatar-bid-al-thani-b2284763.html Since “sportswashing” is really about influence and the appropriation of institutions, and never about as simplistic as public relations or image, it’s difficult not to describe this takeover attempt as the next step in its evolution. We are several levels beyond hosting international tournaments at this point. It makes it all the more incredible, and an utter indictment, that the Premier League did not take the chance to upgrade its Owners and Directors as regards state bodies and influence. They had ample opportunity and warning in the 16 months since the Newcastle United takeover, and Amnesty International UK are on record as saying they are still waiting for a follow-up from an October 2021 meeting. The fact that its two most famous institutions, United and Liverpool, went up for sale at the same time should have only made the alarms louder. It could now leave the damning situation where three of the Premier League’s clubs are either owned or influenced by the three major states that most immediately drove the Gulf blockade. This supposedly great English competition would become the preserve of a political rivalry that takes in far graver themes, not to mention the highly-criticised human rights records of those states.
for those who missed it - no video I can find but this. shame the ref didn't get a good view of it, eh?:
Wow! that was awful. He could've broken his leg. That ref should be ashamed and what good is VAR if they're not going to do something about that. They can't even fix the blatant errors.
Chelsea have not scored twice in a game since the start of November and despite all of their new arrivals in January, they were unable to sign a recognised striker. Former Blues striker Chris Sutton said Potter "has had a lot to deal with". "With so many players coming in, he is uncertain on his starting line-up so he has chopped and changed and you never get continuity when you do that," Sutton said on the Monday Night Club. "Goalscoring is a problem. But I like that Todd Boehly, on the face of it, is backing him long-term." .... so do we all, mate, so do we all
I can understand how bringing in so many players has created problems for Potter. Trying to integrate so many new guys to the team , the league , the country etc can present plenty of problems for a coach. Serves 'em right. Long may it continue
it needs a really, really top-notch manager to figure out what the best 11 is from that ludicrous squad, and it'd take a few months of trial-and-error formations to do it. Potter is never gonna do it.
