so at what age would you allow children to decide that chemical castration and removal of body parts is the right thing for them? as to my surrender.... congratulations, you have won the internets!
right, we did have a discussion on education and how did that end up? more money and more regulation? because that has worked so well in the past
I get the impression you have no idea what the process is that a person undergoes before they have a sex change. You seem to think it's a decision as quick as deciding if you want coffee or tea for breakfast. It's not. Most people I know had to go through years of counseling before their medical professionals would sign off on it. You would be better informed if you actually talked with people who are transgender and with those who actually have had a sex change instead of relying on the over-the-top lies of Republican politicians and their propaganda networks. At the very least you can watch the film Transamerica as an introduction to what is involved, or you can just remain incredibly ignorant and spout off ridiculous things as is your custom. But, I expect you will continue to demand that the government controls their lives like the good Republican you are.
Republicans struggle with the idea of consultative health care between patient and doctor. They prefer the government to tell doctors and patients what to do.
https://www.thefp.com/p/i-thought-i-was-saving-trans-kids There are more than 100 pediatric gender clinics across the U.S. I worked at one. What’s happening to children is morally and medically appalling. To begin transitioning, the girls needed a letter of support from a therapist—usually one we recommended—who they had to see only once or twice for the green light. To make it more efficient for the therapists, we offered them a template for how to write a letter in support of transition. The next stop was a single visit to the endocrinologist for a testosterone prescription. That’s all it took.
and Leftists struggle with independent minded people who do not fall in line with their latest attempt to break down every last vestige of society until nothing but the State remains
So, you admit that you don't know any trans individuals and their families. Got it. Not in the least bit surprised. This statement (not really an article) is from Bari Weiss' new website. Interesting choice of source material. That is a decent article so far. I am not sure whether to believe her account without verification, though. Probably should read it thoughtfully, but skeptically.. However, it sounds like a clinic that should improve their protocols. Glad to know there are now 100 centers for transgender assistance. That is more than I expected. Now, so many more trans kids will receive help and therapy and the medical attention they need and deserve. The medical centers need to do excellent screening of the people they assist. That is so key. They should not treat someone who is not in need of their assistance and they should treat all trans people who need their assistance. Not all trans people want or need this treatment and, as the article states, it appears that perhaps not all of the people seeking treatment are appropriate candidates for the treatment.
Please find an independent minded person and introduce them to BigSoccer. I'd quite like to meet them.
Well, that saved millions of lives, probably many millions. It has nothing to do with the conversation.
IF she is correct, then that clinic needs to be examined. Again, all the people I have talked to who have had sex-change operations have gone through years of counseling. Given this report came out a few hours ago, this reminds me of the time you went on a rant about a North Dakota man killing a teenager because he was conservative. Of course, that turned out to be bullshit, even though it had been immediately broadcasted by the Republican propaganda machine while the more reliable media did more responsible reporting. Doing a quick search, I see the Republican propaganda machines are already blasting this out to everyone - no surprise there. I will wait to see if this is corroborated and if it is, then it needs to be addressed. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that trans people exist and they should have autonomy over their bodies. Furthermore, it is inappropriate for people like you, people who are scientifically ignorant and extremely bigoted toward the LGBT community to make decisions concerning our lives.
Yes I'd want independent sourcing on this one Weiss is a conspiracy theorist - see her 'work' on cancel culture and the twitter files
Funny how Right wingers are immediately glomming onto a piece from Bari Weiss' new site. It's like there is something up with that.
The speed with which it has been picked up by the Republican propaganda machine makes me think something is fishy, and it isn't Wanda.
As with climate change, there is a big market for this kind of grift, compared to few dollars available for people creating quality content. As I pointed out with Taibbi, Weiss hasn't disclosed her arrangement with Musk on the twitter files. Was she paid for it? Did she put her findings to the people concerned for comment? Journalistic credentials of her substack (that's what this is) near zero IMO
And so Weiss earlier this March raised “a few million dollars” she said (pegging it round at between $1 million and $5 million) to expand. Musk is not among her investors, she said. The venture capitalist Marc Andreesen, a bitter critic of mainstream American journalism, had helped Weiss with the launch, according to two people associated with the project. She wouldn’t comment on whether he is an investor, but said The Free Press will disclose investors if they cover them. “If you were going to invest in a media company, Bari would be a great bet,” said the investor and Musk ally Jason Calcanis in a direct message. (He and Weiss also wouldn’t say whether he had invested, and Weiss said that “when we raise a series A, we’ll disclose our full list of major investors.”) https://www.semafor.com/article/12/18/2022/can-bari-weiss-bite-the-hand-that-feeds-her
I know there won't be a response, but I'm curious... How is it that the party of small government and personal freedoms keeps trying to tell lots of other people what they can and can't do? They pretend to base it on their particular religious worldview, but they also can't seem to find the words in their holy book that support their worldview. In other words, they just don't like something and don't want people to do that thing -- and they'll make up whatever bullsh!t excuses they want to rationalize it.
What is this thing you are referring to? What is the party of small government keeping people from doing?
