Works for me. Presumably he'll take up a supplemental roster slot of some sort.

FWIW the guy who I'd like to see step up this year is Parente. He's no longer a callow kid who's found himself in the deep end. He'll be 23 next month and he's been working out with the team for two years. I would think he needs to start contributing or go find a real job.

We've obviously got to get more from the guys already on the team as we aren't getting any major new talents. Parente along with Matan and Zawadski are players that I like some of what I've seen from them and believe they might be able to step up from potential to some amount of MLS production.

I like Zawadski the most from that group. I think it's mostly because of his size. Artur, Morris, Parente, Matan, Yeboa, Cucho, even Lucas and Nagbe are all fairly small. Having a big strong body out there (that also has some talent) is something we've missed. Not everyone can be a Midfield Boss, but I'd like to see Zawadski get some chances to play at the #6.

I think Zawadski will be a solid MLS player. It sure of his ceiling, but I but he’ll be around for a while. Parente I’m kinda out on, he reminds me of Luis Argudo.

I wanna see how Mo Farsi develops. I think if all Nancy asks of him is to run up and down and send in crosses, he can do that pretty well. I wanna see what he can add to his game. He’ll need to evolve if Moreira is playing RCB, because then he’ll be the starter at wingback probably.

There was a leak maybe 2-3 weeks ago. It didn't look all that different from the famous "funeral kit" although this one had yellow trim.
I want to say the Nationwide logo was also yellow.

    (Assuming this leak is real.)

I’m pretty sure they were referring to the official release. It seems later than usual this year.

    My bad on both accounts.
And yeah, it does seem later than usual.

I think Adidas is delaying them for some promotion reasons. I've seen several big clubs make these tweets. It's almost like when the crew had those logo things around town in 2013. That was Kress's best idea.

Also those training kits are nice. Adidas has had a good year in my opinion. I bought a ton of stuff from dicks just plain adidas

Possible loan deal for 29 year old Serbian center back Aleksandar Radovanovic currently with Kortrijk.

"Aleksandar #Radovanovic, like Marko Ilic, is in the spotlight of a club from the #MLS. @ColumbusCrew wants to unseat the defender at KV Kortrijk. Both clubs are negotiating a possible lease. #KVKortrijk @nieuwsbladsport"

Radovanovic is not listed on the roster at KV Kortrijk and I can find no record of him making an appearance in 2023. In fact the last time anything shows he played in a match was last July and hasn't even made the bench in six months.

Kortijk is a terrible teamthat plays in a stadium that doesn't seat 10,000. They're fighting relegation and sinking like a stone.

Seems to say the goalie is also being looked at by MLS. I can puzzle out some dutch from knowing German.

Something like "R as well as Ilic is being looked at by an MLS club. Columbus Crew wants to get the defender away from KV Kortrijk. Both clubs are working on a possible deal."

He’s certainly working hard to add terrible short term loans to his repertoire.

Iggy was a loan too. If this guy is the same level as him, I hope it’s a loan.

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/aleksandar-radovanovic/profil/spieler/339501

He seems to have been a regular starter for the first chuck of the season, then had a muscle injury, came back for a couple games, and hasn’t played since Christmas.

Kortrijk is one spot out of the regular zone. Rado’s only other club experience outside Serbia is with Lens in France, when they were in Ligue 2.

I think I’ll pass. Either get a legit CB starter (doesn’t have to be DP level, just a solid guy) or get a depth piece that is young and can improve.

    NO MORE 30ISH YEAR OLDS!!

Good point. Then again, for all we know it could be a loan deal with an option for a 3 year contract afterwards.

On the "we don't need no more 30 year olds" theme (for which the threshold seems to get lower and lower as time progresses; this guy just turned 29 in November), if this is a legit rumor and the club gets him on loan, it would have absolutely no effect* on our ability to acquire other players in the future. We have open roster slots, lots of roster budget space and MLS funny-money. I don't really see the down side to a cheap, no strings attached acquisition at a position where we're so thin.

Regarding that asterisk, our mysterious number of actual international players makes it impossible to know if the club might need to buy another int'l roster slot from some other club in order to sign another foreign player shoudl we want to do so during the summer window.

I get what you're saying, but this is clearly a guy whose career is basically comatose after bouncing around for more than a decade, never able to stick anyplace for very long and, at 29, his career clock is ticking. If you haven't made it by the time you hit 30, there's pretty much zero chance you ever will.

He's desperate to revive a career which basically looks dead in the water; he's a guy in his prime who isn't able to get PT in a second (or third) rate league on a bottom of the table team.

Long term commitment or not, I really hate to see them cluttering up the roster with guys who would seem highly unlikely to amount to anything.

Fair enough. Let's see what - if anything - comes of this. The odds of it being total bullshit are fairly high.

You do have to wonder how a player like this would even pop up on an MLS club's radar. Everyone's looking for a bargain, of course. Still, years in the Serbian league, with a short, unremarkable stint in France (the peak of his career, presumably) isn't much to go on.

Getting him on loan does affect our ability to sign guys in the future. It’s a cap league. There are only so many spots. What if a perfect fit comes along in another month or two? Or the summer?

Agents reach out to teams all the time, show them a five minute youtube video, and teams sign the player. Yes, it use to be much more common than it is now, but it still happens.
