Someone is throwing Wayne and the ownership a bone. There is a rumor of an 18 team playoff format this fall.

If they go 28 I feel we could be looking somewhat good.

Yes but that will be in a 50 team MLS. :(

No - at work. Couldn't make the 2 hour trip out as my son had a 2K in Rowing to be back for.

No - I'm DCU first. Much to my chagrin. I don't worry about LAFC this season. Especially if they end up with Aubameyang replacing Chicho. Having a local team to watch just dulls the pain from watching DCU week in and week out.

He's just a freshman so his goal was an 8:45 2K and he did it in 7:45. So a whole minute better than what they wanted. He's happy, I'm happy. My kids now do sports I have no history with so it is easier to just allow them to be happy with the effort than if it was soccer/lacrosse/tennis where I'd probably bit a really big shitty sports parent. Oldest daughter (16) - Gymnastics, Youngest Daughter (12) - Volleyball, Middle Son (14) - Rowing (though he was on the LAFC academy team as a U12 but Covid kinda wiped that out).

Santos must not be hurt, because he's in the first starting lineup for DC's TWO games today against San Jose.

San Jose win the first game 2-1. DC scored on a second half penalty (no idea who, probably Benteke).

Bono must have given up the two goals in the first game. Let's see how Miller does in the second.

0-0 draw in the second game. Ku-DiPietro was the captain.

I think Goff reported that they are 1 win 2 draws and 3 losses on the preseason tour. So we are roaring into the season with no where to go but up!

Sure but we have new players that are presumably better than our last season squad. So once they learn each other's names and settle on a single language on the pitch, we are going to be great!

Yes, one final burst of optimism before the season starts is necessary to make everything all better and ignore the problems...

Given the lineup, according to Goff, its an interesting choice to give KDP the armband, especially with how much it seems like Rooney likes Durks

Miller; Najar, Sargis, Pines, Samake; Hopkins, Durkin, Morrison, Rodriguez; Ku-DiPietro, Berry.

and oh yea, so much for Ravel being in Manchester.

One goal for, two against! We will exhaust the other team due to their efforts in scoring so many goals and then we will win!

Maybe for this pre-season he is looking to provide a bit more incentive for young guys to step up. Not that Durkin is olds...

I think that Rooney selecting TKdP as captain is part of his attempt to build culture by having competitive, mouthy guys to take leadership roles. That is Klich's reputation as well. While I certainly respect Birnbaum's long service, they guy was not an in your face type of leader. He came across passive and the team last year, in particular, didn't have that nasty edge that can grab a result in a 50-50 game. Sort of like @revelation, I think this team will be better, but whether or not it will even sniff the playoff line is certainly an open question.

Projecting 5pts/6g to a full 34g season means 28pts - just one more than last year and definitely well out of playoff contention.

Lets you know just how bad our bad losses were last year that the same projection puts us at a -11 GD this year versus the woeful -35 GD last year.
