Fox paid millions to settle their fabricated Seth Rich story and are now being sued by Dominion for over a billion dollars for their bogus voting machine conspiracy stories. We can go back and forth showing examples of news orgs that have to retract stories, and they all don't have the same standard on when they will admit wrong, just like politicians.
Speaking of Simon Dawkins, here's a little interview after the game. I guess he played some in the 2nd half in midfield. I didn't really grok who all their players were (he was #8). I don't remember Simon being quite so bubbly when he was with the Quakes, but then again I don't remember seeing him interviewed. And maybe now he has a sort of "glad to be here" attitude. His production was fairly low last year (1g, 2a in around 1500 minutes, something like that). I did take note of #7, Adrian Rebollar, who caught Cade from behind, or at least seemed to have not much trouble keeping up with him and snuffing out a run (Cade had the ball). He was a standout player on CSUMB and is a Watsonville native, and was somewhat productive with MBU last year (4g, 1a I think). https://www.montereybayfc.com/origin-series-adrian-rebollar/ 🔈 Hear from @SimonDawkins87 and Frank Yallop following tonight's preseason match against San Jose— Monterey Bay F.C. I'm super inspired by the Quakes today. I just have this very good feeling about the season. Championship... not setting the bar so high I come out pissed off. However I am extremely optimistic. I think top 5 in the West... 1 - Austin 2 - Galaxy 3 - LAFC 4 - Nashville 5 - San Jose
Yup... more reason for optimism, we have a good team (Nashville) with the league MVP being replaced by an expansion team (St Louis) with a fairly mediocre roster. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_City_SC#Roster Also not terrible that the LA Times is writing articles like this: The Galaxy, once the model franchise for MLS, have suddenly become a joke
That's Doyle's depth chart. A couple of depressing observations: All but one of the starters were with the team last year. There are only 3 additions that played professionally last year. Where's all the optimism coming from?
Here are the links to both sets of depth charts... Matt Doyle knows a fair amount about every MLS team, but that doesn't mean he knows who the Quakes #1 goalkeeper will be Armchair Analyst: Matt Doyle Where MLS Eastern Conference depth charts & rosters stand for 2023 Armchair Analyst: Matt Doyle Where MLS Western Conference depth charts & rosters stand for 2023
More reason for optimism: Biggest transfer needs: 7 clubs that must address roster holes 7 clubs with big roster holes, plus another 5 at the bottom, and the Quakes aren't even listed!
Well I'm not as optimistic as some are here. I think we'll be better, but maybe incrementally, not a whole bunch. A couple of things about the depth chart: 1) Daniel will probably also be a starter, that makes 2 new players. And then Akapo has yet to play a minute with the team - that's 3, Trauco's had very limited minutes - that's 4, and Rodgrigues limited minutes - that's 5 new or newish players. 2) Based on the game in Monterey I think we're going to have an inverted triange (inverted double-pivot?) center midfield with the d-mid behind and two 8/10's that play kind of side by side. So the Yueill / Monteiro spots are essentially equivalent and we can divide the non-d-mid mids up any way we'd like based on that. In the game, Yueill and Monteiro lined about pretty much even, with Monteiro on the left and Yueill on the right. When we did a "line change" in the 2nd half, it was Niko on the right and Baldi on the left. 3) I don't think Baldi is a d-mid. He played one of the 8/10 spots against Monterey. He does not play like a d-mid based on what I've seen so far this year. 4) I doubt Cruz Medina will see any 1st team time this year. 5) I hope to see TT get some time in the midfield - Luchi mentioned that he's played there in the past. So if we ever see it, we can add him there - somewhere.
More good news, at least in the "western conference is a zero sum game" sense... With season opener approaching, status and whereabouts of Loons star Emanuel Reynoso remain unknown Reynoso has been away from Loons training camp for more than a month. The reason is believed to be personal issues in Argentina — not professional, nor legal. Reynoso has been mentioned in transfer rumors to European clubs; and the 26-year-old faces the prospect of a trial for an alleged assault in Argentina in December 2021. Manager Adrian Heath repeatedly has said since training camp opened the week of Jan. 9 that the club was “hopeful” Reynoso would join in a matter of days. That stretched to weeks, then a month, with Heath saying Tuesday there was no timeline. Reynoso is only... their most important player by far, and the guy everything goes through.

I was wondering why we don't give Munie a number, but then I remembered we haven't signed him yet. I'd be very surprised if we didn't. But until then he's number " ".
I think this exposes the Galaxy were never a model franchise, but could only succeed when the league bent the rules to accommodate their cheating. Now that there is a fair playing field, the real culture is being shown.
Look at Trauco's legs. Baldi's not bad. But Monteiro probably has the skinniest legs I've seen with a professional soccer player.
Why do you spell Rodrigues RODGRIGUES? Thompson hasn't played a second in midfield this preseason and he's been runout with the 3rd team for the most part. I'm ok with him not playing much, it means our bench is getting better. Truaco and Rodrigues aren't new players they've made their debuts. Saying they're still new because of limited minuets is a double side. Because by that account Skahan is a new player still and Bersano was a new player every year. Baldi is a Center Midfielder. He's nor a 6, 8 or 10. He's just a natural. Not going to be super creative, and not going to be elite on defense. We didnt play a triangle against Monterey. We pretty much played a LINE at one point, pivoted to a 2 man etc. I don't think you've seen anything other then grainy 10 second clip from Social Media.
On quick review, I don't see players that are less familiar, like Cilley, Tingey, and Butts. Seems like they are no longer in camp?
Maybe training with Quakes ii? I believe that team has only 15 players on it’s roster right now and at least Emi Ochoa and Cruz Medina could be with their National Team.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Cilley and Tingey have roster spots so they have to fit in plans somewhere. Don’t know if Butts is going to get a contract or is still in any camp. There was a 3rd draft pick whose name I don’t remember
