As a Lions fan, I personally blame the field for Jeff Okudah's inability to tackle in this game and thus the Lions missing the playoffs and will hold this against Charlotte FC forever.
The Dynamo stadium has a new name: https://www.houstondynamofc.com/new...ell-energy-announce-stadium-naming-rights-agr
You get one corporate name, after that you just are “the MLS stadium in (wherever)”. True for all leagues, all sports.
If the Bears move to the 'burbs, the Soldier Field location seems like a great place for a Fire House. If the Bears stay put, then there is a 326 acre parcel that was already considered for a stadium/entertainment district in Arlington that needs a buyer. I am sure MLS would prefer downtown. I am sure the city of Chicago would prefer to keep the Bears downtown.
Chicago is financially strapped and isn't going to tear down Soldier Field to replace it with a SSS. Mayor Lightfoot has an election in a couple of weeks so she was making promises to the Bears if they stayed but didn't really have a mechanism to fund them. Fire can tarp off the upper decks but playing before small crowds in NFL stadia would have the ambiance of MLS 1.0 homes like Giants or Arrowhead.
This looks fire. Need a pro team if we making stufff like this🔥🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/A4qsdselzQ— Brayden (@BamKamFan) February 17, 2023 Are Indy 11 and their billion dollar stadium coming to MLS?
Sad part is that the Fire were a great MLS 1.0 team. Now?...not so much. The rest of your post is right on.
Maybe, if they can afford a billion dollar real estate deal, they can afford the MLS entry fee. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-pictures-BILLION-dollar-stadium-project.html Note, the billion is for the whole project, not just the 20K stadium.
Yeah but we include the price of a whole neighborhood they built around SoFi stadium when talking about the most expensive stadium in the world, so why not here?
His first reply tweet indicates that he is aware of the 11 and their current good attendance. A later tweet repl by him says they “need to go major” so I think that was his general intent.
If they build the 20 K stadium, and they have massive existing support base, throw in local city support, hard to knock em back for an MLS spot.....
-------------------Could be in interesting market. No MLB or NHL to share sports dollars. 20k might be a bit small as some newer stadiums going larger. However, if they build where they plan to, the Oil Dome is across the street and they could use that on big or special event games. I just hope the new place is a grass field- no new SSS should ever have a plastic field, otherwise, why build a nice SSS?
Watched some years ago maybe 3 or 4 a doco on famous teams ..... What was interesting aside from a couple i.e. Real... many of the big clubs come from smaller cities.... say Liverpool, Man U by way of an example... the conclusion was in big cities say New York there is lots of competition from all sorts of areas and often lots on international events whereas in smaller cities there sporting teams come to represent the city... The doco concluded it would be better to have a team not in a major city i.e London but still in a large city... Hard to tell if it was a great analysis ... but it was both a good watch and if Indy has no MLB, NHL or NFL teams .... then from the outside it seems logical... but hey I am from Australia so have absolute zero local knowledge on either Indy or USA viewing patterns..
Indy has NFL (Colts) and NBA (Pacers), but no MLB or NHL. I'd love to see Indy Eleven (great name) jump to MLS.
St. Louis having very impressive stadium wide tifo during their home opener... Just 😮! This is looking really good and once again, this is the sort of stadium everyone in MLS needs. #stlcitysc #AllForCITY pic.twitter.com/EhhNPombFc— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) March 5, 2023
